It should take approx. 15 minutes to resume normal service.

Jack, I didn't understand just one thing: you said "if that's what you want..." well, what is the other option? Leaving the thing as it is, running and deal with the results that may come from this?

We're in the process of developing a concrete policy for race postponement in collaboration with the beta testers. When that comes in to force we'll be able to say after X minutes or laps the race will be postponed. Along with that we'll be introducing a policy of guaranteed uptime and so on. At this point in time there is no policy so asking is only polite. :)

15 minutes, thanks. i will have enough time to finish the race off if that happens.

As most were on the last or last few laps is it an option to end the race as it stood - like a red flag situation?

yes i got that bit about the simulation server resetting, it's just i have other things to do, very busy most of the time.

So either wait, or go and do what you need to do. This is a game, one would suspect that anything more important should take precedence instantly. We'll hold the fort.

i would not mind the red flag situation, i am interested to learn more about this new process incase of a simulation crash.

Well.. I just think that developing a policy for race postponements is not gonna cut it, even with a guaranteed uptime policy. As we can see, bugs can happen anytime. How are you going to guarantee an uptime in this game?

Maybe you should make an open poll to ask the users about it, before introducing it. I don't know, explaining the topics and giving options to us so that it doesn't become arbitrary.

learning about it fully before hand, giving the readers a chance to form their own opinions then the feedback can help the developers come up with a good system that would benefit everyone, in an ideal way. but as a business, this approach may not work.

Jack or Andrew, there is a post in this topic here http://igpmanager.com/play/?url=forum-thread/2142 by Kev Higgins that we could really use your response in the issue.

Thanks.

Yes, The race continued with 2 laps to go - it was a nice end to our season.

What a finale. Pity only 3 of us were here to see it :@

Our race restarted, then managed 7 laps before the 2D and controls on the live timing crapped out. So now we can just watch the timing...

the game just made long enough for me to get that win and make the pro class, it still looks a bit unstable when using the 2d viewer.

My race just started, but lost connection early on Lap 3. There's still no controls. Race is still going. Now lap 5. Watching my driver fall down the table because I hadn't backed off yet. Not pleased.

Well this is great. Objective was P2, started 5th. Got up to 4th before the controls died. I'm now last of the 10 remaining cars.

Ah, finally my suggestion for a delayed race policy from February is being put in to action ;)

All this problems again and again...
If you would have called iGPM a developer project in BETA state, with the posibillity to support development - like the CARS project. - every thing would be fine.
But I have payed for a one year subscription of a game and not a try of a game...

Complaining that the game is considered 'beta'? Give me a break. This is a game that's constantly evolving, mostly for the better. Occasionally things will screw up. That's the cost of having a game that's on-line and available ALL THE TIME. Beta testing is tricky in that circumstance. Static would suck. No development? No change? No imprivements? Sounds pretty crappy to me. Put up with the occasional messed up race in the name of progress? Sure, why not? Always remember, this is a GAME! Nobody's life depends on how the imaginary cars do.

I understand that everyone wants good results and get frustrated when things screw up a race, whether it's the player's fault or a bug in the game. I get frustrated with it too. But occasionally things happen beyond anyone's control. Ever been playing a 'traditional' game (RPG, Sports, whatever), forget to save, and then have a rash? Same thing. You paid for that too. Do you get pissed off about that too and throw the game away, wait for a patch, or figure out a work-around?

Shit happens. Get over it.

Well said Joel.

It is frustrating when things don't work in the way that they should & when races are won & lost as a result. But this frustration is nothing compared to those who develop & manage this game. No-one wants it to work more than they do.
