Ive had another idea to add to this where you get 4 drivers and 2 are race drivers and the other 2 are like reserve drivers where they only do a bit of testing to maybe speed up development or improve default setups.

I would just prefer 1 test driver (Reserve). If you had 2 then there wouldn't be many other options on the driver market that are actually decent.
It's a great idea but I think it would be better with just 1 reserve driver.

I agree with Chaz that 4 would be too many but I like the idea of a 3rd driver,

Would be good to be able to run a race with a 3rd driver to see how they compare without losing the old one.

At the moment, it's a bit of a tossup when replacing drivers and if the one you let go is snapped up there's no way back.

New driver can be firstly created at Young Drivers' Academy and trained as a third driver, then announced on the track.

Like this idea!

That would work but I don't think you can go past level 8 at Rookie tier.

However, since I have played this game, this has been the best idea by far! Props to Ciaran! :)

Strange topic.

Not really, it is a good idea!

If we were true to IRL we would have a 3rd driver, but we would never promote him. Instead we would buy a driver previously used by another team when a seat needs to be filled. :D

And ask a retired 44 year old first!

But jokes aside I really would love to see this! :)

In an old, old F1 manager game you had the possibility to hire a test driver. You'll needed one in case one of the other drivers couldn't race due to illness. I think that would be a nice add-on to this game. If you don't hire a good doctor, and train your drivers health regurarly, you have an increased possibility of a driver getting ill.

Maybe it would be nice that if test driver cannot exceed a certain level in personal development.

That's a pretty accurate observation, Izo.

[Third driver is needed when your basic drivers can't race due to illness or contusion.]

Terminal crashes and contusions in iGP - very discering suggestion.

i think illness would be a good idea and would give a reason to get a better doctor!

Like the idea of illness combined with the 3rd driver and doctor!

Shame that none of the developers are saying anything about this :(

I'm not sure what Davide Valsecchi will think of this suggestion.

The devs rarely comment about new ideas on the forum.  If they agreed or disagreed with a suggestion it would kill the discussion so it is better that they don't comment and let us argue/discuss all the pros and cons with an idea.

I can assure you that we read all forum entries, including suggestions.

Sometimes a suggestion stands out immediately & we usually say straight away that we like the idea & will try to find a place for it in our plan.

As Jake correctly says though, sometimes the idea is refined by discussion & so it is better to leave most suggestions open to debate in order to see where the conversation takes them.

Just to digress for a moment...

I can also assure you that we take notice of every comment about the game, good, bad or indifferent. Our customers, (this means you), are our quality control process & as such we rely on you telling us what you think about all aspects of the game. We are a small team too, so our capacity for new ideas is limited, which means suggestions from you are an essential part of improving the game.

Yeh - thanks for that Andrew.  Having read my post again it might sound, to new players, as if the devs and other staff don't take any notice of the forum.  Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.  The forum is a really good place to kick ideas around and so inform the team just what people are thinking and how the game might develop.
