Today we have launched two brand new dry tyre compounds for iGP Manager, the Super Soft and Medium compounds. There are now four dry weather compounds available, they are: Super Soft, Soft, Medium and Hard. The wet weather tyres remain as Wet (Intermediate) and Wet (Full).

Performance changes

Here is a rough guide to the changes to help formulate strategies for the first race:

  • The new Hard tyre is more durable than the old Hard tyre
  • The new Medium and Soft compounds fall in the middle, between where the old Soft and Hard compounds were
  • The new Super Soft tyre is grippier and less durable than the old Soft tyre.
  • The performance of wet tyres remains virtually unchanged in this update.

All tyres will now start at optimal temperature at the beginning of a stint. This is a temporary measure until we introduce tyre warmers at a later date (which will allow you to customize the starting temperature). This will reduce situations where a manager not attending a race may hold up the pack. It also makes it easier to still compete if you miss the start of the race for any reason.

Advanced strategy changes

The advanced strategy options have changed for wet weather. Instead of the old method, which was "if it rains, after X laps fit a wet weather tyre", the new method will determine when to fit a wet weather tyre based on the amount of standing water on the circuit, ranging from 0-5mm in depth. This will only come in to effect when it is currently raining. For example, if you wish to pit immediately for wet weather tyres if it begins raining, you would specify 0mm water depth for the moment to pit. If you want to wait until a lot of water has accumulated on the circuit you would select a higher value, from 1-5mm. These values correspond with the water depth in the weather widget during a live race, with 0 being empty and 5 being full.

FAQ

  • Is the current performance of the tyres final?
No. We always encounter new scenarios that we could not factor in to testing during a live release, and we will be open to refining the performance further in the weeks ahead.
  • Will you be adding any more tyres?
No, we believe four dry compounds are more than enough!
  • What's the point of this update?
To increase the variation in strategies and to reduce the deficit from non-attendance of a race, both for the non-attending manager, and anyone impeded by his or her car on the track.
