We have a league that we started around August this year just for school friends, we all had fresh level 1 accounts so it was all fair towards the end of the season we were around level 4,5 and my friend Jordan bought a level 14 driver who was dominating in racing when we all had level 6 drivers from traing them. People in the league all wanted me to kick him for cheating because he got the driver the marketplace in the forums which they patched because people shouldn’t have had access to drivers higher level then them. So I asked him to sell the driver so we would all be on the same page with drivers, he said “no” and tried asking him the next day trying to show to him why and he said “no, make me” so I threatened to kick him for being unfair in the league and he said “I’m going to leave first “ because he didn’t want to be in the league, then he joined because I didn’t change the password at the time, the next day we care to an agreement that he could keep the driver until level 13 because we could buy level 13 driver and train them to level 14 he said okay. During the first race of the season last Wednesday he was sending me a bunch of hate messages I tried to ignore them but then I responded saying didn’t we have an agreement and he said something along the lines of “now your just going to win every race” saying I was doing it just to win. Which I wasn’t I just wanted a fair league with everyone on the same level and standards. So at the end of the race he asked me to kick him, so I did and then changed the password, and now he wants to join back and use his level 14 driver

Finally we here the other side of the story! You did see the other thread he started about it right?
I think you where 100% correct and fair indeed.
He seems like an ok chap though, I can see his side too but I think he is wrong. I do hope you guys can sort it out, this is just a game after all, and not worth the negativity. Real life is too precious!
Best of luck with the league Dylan!

If you had told me after a race or 2 last season when you had already won the championship and nothing mattered I would have done it but you only decided since it’s the beginning of a new season to do it so you can win it all which you are going to do without a doubt.
Chris Py medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
May I ask what age you guys are? You should be arguing about girls, not a driver in online simulation games ;D
Jordan How much did you spend on that driver? Perhaps I can cover it somehow?
Jordan Sutton medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
Chris I’m not looking for compensation for him i just want to know if it is a justified ban or not?
Chris Py medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
Sorry mate, In my opinion it is. It is not fair for you to use a level 14 driver when the others use level 6-7 drivers. That is all he is saying, stop using that driver and get back in the league and race with your mates. I think you are too hung up on that driver actually, there are so many ways of getting an edge. This game is built beautifully, because it will favour those who are behind to catch up (research points etc). Just play smart and you will be caught up in no time.
Jordan Sutton medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
Well as you said by playing smart I bought the driver and again I would have been completely fine with Dylan telling me to stop earlier I would accept that if he told me after Japan or Brazil or Abu Dhabi ( I bought him in time for the Japanese gp) I would have sold him and he would be history but he told me not even a day before the aus gp when I had setup all completed and everything prepared for the race.

Having read both sides to the story i do think this is a fair enough ban. All of us want the racing to be as fair as possible, and using a level 14 driver you bought off a glitch at level 5-6 isn't fair at all imo. I think both of you should just shake hands and agree to race fairly and not have any arguments. And Chris, they are probably around 12-16 seeing as they are in school
Jordan Sutton medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
Even with my “glitch” driver I still finish 30 seconds behind his second driver so I don’t see why he complains
Chris Py medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
Well I don't know why it took him so "long" to tell you. But regardless, since it is not possible for any of the others to get a level 14 driver, you have to agree that you have an unfair advantage don't you? You can argue that he have other things that is better than yours which makes you fall behind, but whatever it is that he got, you can get too.
@Jordan: Is there anything Dylan can do to make up for it, not informing you about his thoughts about the driver soon enough?
@Dylan: Can Jordan do anything to solve this situation and leave this all behind?
You guys need to talk to each other and not do it here in the forum. Give each other a call and tell each other what you feel in a calm and respectful manner, and try to put your selves in the other persons shoes to see it from their viewpoint.
That's all I can say. I really do hope you guys sort this. And if not, at least let the fighting stay in the game and do NOT take it out in real life.
Best of luck guys!
Jordan Sutton medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
No what can he do to make up for it?
Regardless I’m in a new league and able to keep my driver without childish hosts ?

If the rule was clear for everyone that it is not allowed to buy high talented drivers, then the ban would be OK for me. But if Jordan did not know about this internal rule, how should he have followed it? To tell him afterwards he should give away his driver which he luckily found does not sound fair to me.
So wether the ban was fair or not depends on the question wether or not everyone has known about the rule not to buy better drivers. Otherwise to upgrade your staff and drivers is a valid way to develop your team. And everyone of your league has the same options to do so, which makes it fair again.

I think that you missed the point Hein. It's not about buying high talented drivers, it's about a glitch that allowed Jordan to buy a level 14 driver while he was still level 5 or 6. That's simply something how this game is not build and it happened because of some kind of loophole in the code I guess that such an action is possible at all.
It's of course not Jordan's fault for buying such a driver although one can understand that the others don't like it because it's contrary to how this game is supposed to work. That the communication between the two didn't work as it ought to is just another string of events which escalated the whole situation. But I think it's fair to say, even without telling sb. beforehand (simply because it's such an unusual event), that the manager should not be allowed to use the driver until he reaches that level himself. If he has to sell him or not, is in my opinion not that important, but using him in a league race seems unfair and should be prohibited (at least if the host or the majority of managers in that league want it).
Another case of such an unusual event is when some managers have 100 accl at the season's start. A simple kick and rejoin solves the situation there, too. But of course it's sth that's not being told beforehand to everybody simply because one doesn't expect it to happen.
So I hope that you two can get together as friends again and put the whole matter behind you.

Fair or not... there are probably arguments for both opinions, you see it also in the vote that people are completely divided over it (7-8 while I'm writing this). Personally, I wouldn't have banned him. After all, yes, it was a level 14 driver, but he had only talent 11. If you find yourself a level 6 or 7 driver with talent 20 (and if you ask around on the forum, there are some high level players who are willing to generate these for you and sell them, certainly if you would explain the situation you guys were in) you have already a faster driver with more potential than what Jordan got thanks to a bug. So no, I would not have banned him, I would have taken it as a challenge to anyway still try to beat him. A driver is just one piece of the puzzle to get to a winning strategy in iGP, the beauty of the game :)
Having said that, I can now start to put on my "police-moderator" hat and start investigating the accusations of sending private hate messages and based on all facts and figures decide to temporarily mute one or both managers. But I honestly hope that is not necessary. I read that you are friends from school, so Dylan and Jordan, like others here have suggested already, I really hope you can get together, talk it over like real friends, make up with a handshake or a hug and get going again without hard feelings between the two of you.
Do you think you can do that? Or will I get forced to take actions I don't want to take on 2 friends who should be having fun together and talk at school over how great last night's race was?
Self Help medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
Jordan: you shouldn't have send the hate messages, and “cheat” with your driver
Dylan: You were right but give him another chance
Memo Leiva medal 5000 5 years 168 days ago
Neither managers should be put in a situation to where they get handed any sort of punishment due to this incident.
After all, it`s a game`s negligence the root of the issue.
Both managers have already endure the potential loss of their real friendship through this mishap.
Clearly neither one of them are at fault here. Therefore in my humble opinion; iGP should rectify the issue by compensating their entire league-tier for their inconveniences and to what now has become a-not-so-fun environment.
I`ve been playing for just a year, and already have heard about similar issues numerous times.
These kinds of issues shouldn`t be happening, but they are. These are well known weaknesses of the game. As long as they don`t get dealt with, they`ll continue to occur. We as players should not have to go through this process because malfunctions get neglected.
My apologies for going off topic.

It's true, Johnny, I did not capture that circumstance. Of course you cannot make rules about glitches you don't know about ;o) Still I think, Jordan was just lucky to catch this driver.
Hamlet Rodriguez medal 5000 5 years 167 days ago
There`s no win for either manager here. Both are right by their own merits.
Like Memo stated above; it was and still is an Igp negligence that led to this mess. I thought compensating the entire tier was extreme, but it makes total sense. I can just imagine the tension and added comments on their league`s chat wall.
Igp should make it right by acquitting the managers involved from any wrong doing in this incident and moving forward.

Since it's due to a bug in the game more than anything no player should get any punishment from iGP at least. There is no way anyone in the league could have anticipated such a glitch, but I also believe that continued exploitation of the glitch, even after hearing how the rest of the league would be disadvantaged and being asked by the league host to not exploit the bug there, is not indicative of sportsmanlike player conduct. Not saying that it necessarily warrants a ban, but just a general thought.
Still, I have to say that driver level isn't the biggest indicator of driver performance. Talent is. So even a level 20 driver with only 2 Talent would lose to a fresh Talent 20 driver from the driver academy, for example. But since the manager was asked not to use the high level driver obtained through the glitch, they could've instead just kept them as a reserve at the very least, especially since they've spent money and tokens on them. But that manager's low leveled Talent 20 is far better than that level 14 driver he got, so I'd actually recommend just finding Talent 20s and ditching the lvl 14 11 Talent once you get another Talent 20.
That said, it is not decent conduct to engage in petty or hateful arguments and messages, regardless of how the situation with the driver was handled.
Frank Thomas medal 4985 Moderator 5 years 167 days ago
Personally I think the ban was fully justified. The driver was acquired exploiting a bug, probably accidentally as Jordan was too new to the game to realise it, but after his league mates pointed it out the right thing would've been to replace that driver, regardless of the actual qualities of the driver or how strong the teams in the league are (cheating isn't OK even if someone else is (currently) better after all). Further, answering with insults, or threats, both private or on the league board, is a no go in any case and excluding a player from a league for that is OK in itself in my book.
