The first stage, released tonight, improves AI behaviours and address bugs with them not respecting adavanced strategy. They will also prevent advanced strategy from "hijacking" the strategy during a race while the manager is attending. Once you are in the race viewer, you will be solely responsible for strategy, regardless of what you have set on advanced strategy.
Some managers took this to mean that there would never be any advanced strategy options applied prior to the start of the race. To clarify, it still applies advanced strategy on the starting tyre, even if you attend the race. However, if you manage the race live from any point, it will no longer apply advanced strategy automations from the point at which you join.
The next downloadable app update will introduce the ability to change the starting tyre before the start of the race. This option will be available if the weather suddenly changes from wet to dry or vice versa between qualifying and the race. This is what was referred to as the 'second stage' in the blog, and is yet to be released.
By implementing it this way:
- Attending the race will give you full manual control of strategy.
- Not attending the race will mean the strategy is automated by 'advanced strategy' settings.
- Attending part-way through the race will be automated by advanced strategy settings until you join, then it will be manual.
