Hello,
So today was a race in Malaysia in our league. It was raining in Malaysia. But before the race start it had stopped raining and the track was wet through out the race until it became dry on lap 49. We used inters throughout the race as it was wet.

Many managers in our league were disqualified becoz of tyre rule including myself. Whether it rains or not as the track is wet it is considered as wet race. Then why were we disqualified??

If u are suggesting I had used any dry compound tyre for the last stint, i would not have disqualified,

Then why was he disqualified for changing inters to medium compound tyre??

Regardless of whether a track is wet if it doesn’t rain during the race it is treated as a dry race and requires 2 dry compounds.  This is a known issue/feature of the new rules and there are several threads in the forum about it with answers as above from Mods.

The rule is: "2 types of tires".
So a strategy with I+M+M should be considered valid...!?
It would be easier to understand and it would avoid disputes...

No it has to be dry tyres.  Here is the details from the official announcement when the rules where introduced.  You can find in the Announcements Section.

2-tyre rule: You will need to fit two different dry compounds during a dry race. If it rains at any point during the race, the rule will be automatically disabled. If a car doesn’t follow the rules it’ll result in an automatic Disqualification / DSQ on the results and any points scored will be deducted.

What it doesn’t state is that races with wet tracks, but no rain during race are treated by the system as dry races.

And that's the problem : if it rains before the start and the track is wet for 45 laps on 50...you'll have to put on 2 types of dry tires during the 5 laps before the end.
On the other hand, if during a race it rains for 2 minutes...that the water rises to 1mm and then dries quickly, we can keep our tires dry and put on the same type of tires until the finish.
This regulation is a bit strange...no...??

There are several threads about this and Mods always answer that that is how it is currently designed.  Jose”s post on this thread is the first time I’ve heard it described as a bug so hopefully it will be addressed in a future update in same way the Brazil pit stop bug was fixed a couple of days ago.

It’s only been around since 2 tyre rule was introduced so a matter of months and yes I agree it is silly that races with water on track aren’t treated as wet races. (Posted from my second account).

I've been through all the race results from our league and interestingly enough though, people who used inters and only 1 dry compound were not disqualified, including even 1 manager who used inters all race with only 1 lap on softs in the middle. Only managers who used exclusively inters were disqualified

There are plenty who have just read through the forum threads. Can’t post the link as on iPad, but type ‘Disqualified but Why?’ and you will see a good example with reply from a Moderator.

It happened to me in Japan earlier month in an offline race (ok maybe not the best example as advanced strategy caused it , but principle is same).  Set strategy for M-S-S.  Qualified on S, it must have briefly rained after qualifying and then stopped with wet track at start.   First lap on Inters and then pitted for Softs for rest of race.  Disqualified for not using 2 dry compounds.

P.s.I’ve looked at your race for Japan this month and see what you mean so this must be an inconsistently applied bug 🤷‍♂️

It's a good start...

The rule would just have to be changed.

The rule : "2 types of tires except if rain"...
would become : "2 types of tires except if the track is wet".

Assuming they can program it to recognise the difference.  My understanding is that it’s all linked to it actually raining rather than the track being being wet.

You see from mine and Mahaar’s experiences at Japan that the rules aren’t working now as intended and are being applied inconsistently.

I totally agree with it.

This should be the rule.

A race should be considered wet when track is wet
Whether it is wet for half a race or full race, it should be considered as wet race only.

They could. How does advanced strategy work now?

I think they should check the track when countdown is 30 seconds to go, then they can manage the race as they do now. The missing information is the water level when race starts, if it will rain during the race it's obvious that is a wet race.

So according to the rule they should have also used 2 dry compound tyre rather than 1 dry compound tyre.

And what is result of this??
Managers from Rookie, Pro and Elite lost their scored points just because one guy didnt follow the rules!
And to make things worst, the guy who complained about it in the first place - left league.
What a great league management.

What was the outcome of the poll and what was the host supposed to do? Also did teams scoring points in Rookie and Pro actually follow the rules? In Elite the picture was clear, at least in points no team and none of the others I checked followed the two compounds rule, so by rules everyone should've been disqualified if the race was a no rain race or no one if there was rain. So skipping was the correct call with the rules in mind, as understandably frustrating it is for teams loosing those points. Was the poll favouring something else?
