Hi Folks,
I think its safe to say that in its current format (which I love!!) the foundations of this game is strong leagues. I think you find most of the top leagues have engaged active league hosts. To make sure the game continues to grow I think it might help if you provide some additional tools to the league hosts?
1. Polls. Its mentioned before, but its very handy for getting consensus on many different things like time changes etc and also just for creating ways to interact with the league members.
2. Automatic in game mail generation. I mail (or try to at least) every new member to the league. Its the same mail, welcoming them to the league, outlining the league rules etc. It would be nice to be able to have it setup to auto send the mail to any new member of the league
3. Ordering of Activity page in the current managers screen to be able to order by "joined" as well as last login.
Just bumping this one up, mentioned it to Jack when he was checking in on a race. Really think these will help in retaining new players, specially number 2.
In addition to the above I would also like to suggest -
6. League Host highlighted. There is currently no way to identify who is hosting a league anymore.
7. League Ranking. Everyone wants to be the best, to be the best you need to race the best. Its hard to know what leagues are really worth joining. Rank them.
8. Holiday notification. Allow managers to set themselves as "on holiday" to avoid being kicked etc. Have it inform the league host "player X is now marked away, and will not be active for y days".
i'm agree with you whit almost all points!
Expecially the point 7 and 8, I've just started this game but I find hard which leagues should I join, and expecially for the Holiday I would say that I've heard some player complaining about it. A setting could be added for example if a player is no more active for 3 or 4 days at the end of the leagues he froze, so his racec, points and money. That could be wort. :)
Better league management tools
To improve the organisation tools for hosts of leagues and improve communication between league hosts and participants, we're going to be adding some new features. There will be a poll system, a league mailing system for hosts, a welcome mail and an auto-kick feature to remove inactive people from leagues. We hope to add this in June.
The auto-kick feature: does the league host have to set the auto-kick, or is IGP itself just going to kick everyone in the entire game that is inactive for x amount of time?
Just wondering--it would make more sense to me if it's the latter. =)
I think the auto kick feature cannot be left to the host. One of the things autokick by the game would do is eliminate thousands of dead accounts that are now running in leagues in which no one (not even the host) is active. This would greatly relieve server loads. Two season's of no log-in should clear the books fairly quickly and leave some room for hosts to manage inactive players so that their pro tiers do not fail to promote.
Auto-kick period could be set by host, this is yet to be determined. A clear warning would need to be shown on each league, though. Personally, I was thinking something like 2 weeks by default.
The auto kick feature is a difficult one for sure. I know in the British Racing League I run a 5 or so race limit unless you say your going to be away.
But I try and make sure to mail everyone the league rules when they join.
When you marry the proposed functions to auto mail new joiners a short period is possible, while a default one of may longer than 2 weeks would work for unmanaged leagues. You would see ghost leagues clean up with a month or two!? Better for everyone. I know if I have control I will set the auto kick out as far as possible and manage it personally. But I do think it's an essential function for clearing out ghost leagues.
