Change the duration of the race instantaneously or not

When do you want to apply the changes in the duration of the race?

35.58% (132)
Next race
64.42% (239)
Next season

Hello managers,

Currently, league hosts/administrators can change the duration of the race instantly, so changes would be made for the next race.

We’ve been reading a lot of suggestions from managers who think that the fairest thing to do would be for those changes to be applied for the next season of that league. In this way it would give managers time to foresee this change and be able to adapt, or look for another league.

We here at iGP Manager would like to hear your thoughts on how this should work.  Please let us know how you feel about this.

Thinking about it I'm in general in favour to give league hosts a free hand about this. But I don't know how often irresponsible hosts cause problems with this, though I'd rather find a way to identify bad hosts instead of limiting all. Still, if it's a common problem then locking it might be necessary, and the legitimate reasons to change race lengths (like just doing a shorter race instead of postponing, or trying a schedule in which certain week days/tracks, are done as sprint/endurance races) are rather special and shouldn't be that commonly used anyway.

I think any changes should, ideally be kept til between seasons, but making that a strict rule is wrong in my opinion, just because there may be a time when, for some unforeseen reason, a change has to be made immediately  There probably wouldn't be time to ask admin to change things so the ability to change things has to be from the next race, just in case.

José, when you say duration, do you mean only the race length, or also the speed? Because speed also impacts the time you need to attend a live race, to the same extent as race length.

If it is left as it is now, the possibility is offered to each league, to choose when we want to carry out the change of schedule. If managers want it to be the next season, they just have to wait, while if it is limited to the next season, it creates discontent with those who want to change the time as soon as possible.

Hi,

There are sevaral factors that will change only the next season.

For different Race Duration need other tire tactics and strategy and reliability and cooling and mental.

Change the speed of the race is also important only in the next season.

Different Speed gives other kers use, and other live tactics.

My viewpoint is absolutely: only in the next season!

Definitly next season.
I think we can all agree we all join a league that fits our timetables/ schedules best.
Some people may only have 30 minutes a day to watch the race.
If the length (or time of the race) would change mid-season people who want to watch the live race, cant anymore and are forced to find a new league mid-season, and forced to accept penalties due to basically "not their fault"
(Forcing a season-fixed time of race, will eventually interfere with daylight savings twice a year tho, so.... ye.....)

I cant remember the last time regulations were changed mid-season in F1, or any sports for that matter.
But feel free to refresh my memory.

In response to Frank, id say: time or length changes should not be a hosts decision at all.
I truly dont believe in dictatorship.
Imo if something affects 45 people, those 45 people should come to a democratic decision by vote.
(Which should allow leagues to change it again for next race, if they put it to a vote and agree they want it next race)
I voted next season, but i can see how both can be valid as long as (imo) it is done by vote.

So maybe no change is needed,
I think it is a hard one.
Glad its put to a vote!

Next race but allow players to leave a league with no credit penalty within 24hrs of a change being made.

Also a great solution
Tho i think i wouldnt like racing for championships, and then having to leave due to changing racelength.
The penalty incurred is neglectable in comparison with the unsatisfactory feeling of not being able to finish the season u started.

@ Bo

Like you I race daily so a couple of weeks at most wouldn't be too long to wait however some leagues only run once or twice a week.

I admit it could only happen to a very small minority of leagues but potentially a choice which everyone is in favour of could be locked out for 4 months if it were season based.

In those circumstances you can request the changes on the forum? Create a poll and keep it up as proof to the developers that the majority would like to change. Surely that's better than having dictating hosts doing as they please?

In which case, go to the forum's main page, click the 'help and support' section, once there click the 'post new thread'-button.
Think of a title in keywords for the top bar, and state ur question as clear as possible for all to understand in the big box below the title bar.
