We had some unexpected problems which needed time to resolve. Therefore the update will come later than expected.
Here you find the information: http://igpmanager.com/news-article/24/q2-update-set-for-late-july-release

I think he was referring to the fact that today is the last day in July, but I could be wrong.

That is correct and I know that.
But as I said. There were problems which needed to be solved immediately. This took time which was planned for the update.
It's not like we don't do anything. Currently we have a closed beta test where some other bugs occured. These must be resolved before we can launch the update on the live server.

Cool, thanks for keeping us updated on what's going on and not just keeping quiet like most devs do :)

May want to do a quick blogpost about it being delayed? It'd be quite good for user / dev communication <3

I can't write any blogposts. So sorry for that.
We are working hard on the update to release it asap.

In all fairness, Marcus has a point, because it was initially rescheduled for the end of July. This has been a very busy period for us and things are moving in directions we couldn't have predicted even 4 weeks ago. There's a lot of buzz around iGP at the moment and we're putting as much effort in to developing partnerships as coding. Some of these opportunities only come knocking once (especially for a small start-up), so we intend to pursue them.

My expectation is that we're looking at another couple of weeks at least before the update is released, but the silver lining is that the service is still expanding, just not in ways anyone could have predicted a few months, or even a few weeks ago.

Given the way things are headed I'd say it's likely we'll move away from the quarterly update model to something more flexible (if we haven't already). Over time, the quarterly model has proven a hindrance to really growing the service. Because of how it squeezes you on time, it leads to unimportant objectives being put ahead of important ones, and that's not the way we want to work moving forward. We want to combine development with building partnerships and branching out in to more forms of motorsport.

Of course if fingers are going to be pointed at anyone, they can only be pointed at us. But our policy remains to be open with the community, and you can be sure that we are still working as hard as ever.

Thanks for keeping us informed Jack.
I am glad to hear you are going for a more flexible approach, there is nothing like tight deadlines to get people annoyed when it doesnt happen.

Good luck with the attracting big businesses and sponsorship deals to the game.
You will all be famous - one day :)

More forms of motorsport?

Potentially a Sportscar GP manager with GT and prototype cars on the track at the same time?  Where can I sign up for that. :)

Sorry, the reasons are not acceptable to me. I finish my season and leave.

Devs are nice guys. Best intentions, but the product is not what I want and going into a direction I dislike.
As well I don't want to be treated like an addict searching for the info about timelines not met to find it in "Gameplay assistance".

Nothing in the "news and announcement" section. Last time I needed to log off to find, what still prominently is presented on homepage "Q2 update end of July".

And to be honest: "it's likely we'll move away from the quarterly update model to something more flexible"

Jack, you never were at something like "quarterly updates". Last time it came a bit late and it misses most of the features coming "later" (some of them we are still waiting for). This time update didn't came even close to the first and second announced date.

What "quaterly update model" are you speaking of?

The wise Loh shall now share a few words;

There is no release date for Patch 1.2.1 (dubbed as Q2)

The development route of the game should be 5-7 months between large content patches such as our Q1 and Q2.

Without breaching the NDA, I can confirm we have tested some new features, some other features are yet to be added to testing.

There has been a tonne of bugs as of late on beta, many are difficult to resolve.

More features are yet to be added to testing, and again this will generate more bugs.
My advice to the playerbase

Be calm, if the Q2 patch is released now, you will be more angry than you are now.

Be constructive and helpful, advertise your Wit and intelligence, maybe even help develop the game like several people like myself have.

Sometimes you can get to anxious and forget that programs like games are made of threads, when one thread is lose, and you remove it, another one or more comes undone.
Also my advice towards later developed different car types, I would be wholesomely against it as it will weaken the community as more different race types will thin more leagues.

So be patient, let me and the other testers bombard the bug page with issues to get fixed, we'll make sure the game is in working order for you. -stares at Jack-
And in due time, you will have some great fun on your hands. In the meantime, I know that 98% of the playerbase can vastly improve in that time.

How do you even become a part of that beta testing, and if anyone can, do you need a certain background of knowledge/experience in IT or something, or do you just need to be an active iGP manager?

I'd be up for helping test too. I don't have a software background, but I've done web design/programming for nearly 15 years, so I have a fair bit of experience troubleshooting computer-type things that don't work right. (I still need to report the bugs I found in the current 2D viewer; haven't seen any mention of them in the forums.)

Several people were invited to test that beta Jason.
These people were chosen by several criterias.
