Quoting an older post made by someone time ago, no matter what tyre I'm on, my Qualifiying is awful. My level is 20 so my car is always up with the best so its hard to understand when I have to come through all the pack each race.
The last race is exemplary: I'm pretty sure to have the proper attributes for the track (Sakhir). In fact in the free practice my cars were only 0.007 and 0.049 behind the leader.
In the Qualifying the results have been 0.464 and 0.468 from the pole.
What am I doing wrong?
This is ruining my seasons from two or three championships. I don't think I've forgotten how to play - I won 32 championships. :) I tried to change drivers and staff but nothing changed.

Doing another example in China (a race that I won at least) in Quali the gap was 0.260 and 0.317. Too much for same level cars, staff and drivers. This happens always.

Assuming that other managers are doing a great job.
Only for my knowledge :)

Not to down play your frustration, But you're putting way too much thought into practices and qualy.

Practices are simply to get the driver's setup..... nothing else.... whatever time is posted during practices has absolutely nothing to do with his performance on race day.

I hope I don't go too off topic here.....

Qualy is the one aspect of the game that the devs have admitted to being rather random, soooooo..... equally I wouldn't read too much into your qualy performances. It is what it is...

The true numbers are on your post race reports. That's where you get a more accurate picture of what your drivers are doing vs. your car's design points setup in correlation to your suppliers.

If you haven't yet.... have a read......from Jack

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi, I appreciate your reply and read what Jack said :)
I understand your point. In fact I do not care so much about practice but is a fact that suddenly from 2-3 season my cars stopped working in qualifying.
I know that the qualifying has an aspect of randomness but always my cars are back even in those GPs I which I clearly had the fastest car (or one of the fastest) in the race.
In a close league the starting position is crucial because of traffic and this situation eliminates every fun possibilities.
I am not speaking only about the best managers in the league who have better starting position than me but...in many races my cars start behind others that are clearly less developed than mine...in fact in the race they arrived so far from me.
I'm pretty sure that there is a "dark pathology" that affects some accounts for some reasons, despite what the developers are saying.
Is there a way to check for you if all is working properly for a particular account?

A proof of what is happening is also the second part of the season, when the best managers have the cars all maxed out.
So, how good drivers (changed many with the best attributes), proper staff, ideal setup, car maxed out, fresh engines and same tyres could result always in a bad qualifying compared to the others? :)
The only way for me to do a better or equal quali than the others is to have the best developed car. You know that when you are playing with best managers this is almost impossible...

practice tells you something, but not everything, because everyone is doing it different, like in reality you can hide your real Performance there. I for example, do It after the race with less health, so obviously i qualify better than my practice. some players do just 1 lap to get the Setup right and can have a bad lap, so they will also have a better qualy than shown in practice.

The quali itself is not totally random, but has a random factor. Your driver is going for 1 lap and does not always have a perfect lap, like you can observe in practice, when you do it with all parameters equal you can see, that there can be a difference between the laps of 0,5 seconds. that happens in quali, too. 0,5 seconds can be 20-30 places in a competitive league, but everyone has the same problem.

towards the end of the season everyone has maxed out the car, so it is normal that you can have bad starting positions. I observed that everyone in the game understands to develop the car to some degrees. you can have a small advantage at the first half of the season, due to better research and Development. just have a look into your car section, from the Computer Version  there you find what Teams maxed which statistic and you can see that the majority has maximized the important stats in the 2. half of the season.

When, you perform, better at the end of the season, it is because you are managing the race better and/or have a better strategy, not your research or drivers or Team are better.
the top Teams in my league have the same situation and dealing with that is part of winning the championship, in top leagues there is no free lunch.

Drivers? when you don't race against level 15 or lower, everyone has top drivers.

This situation brings some equality in the game and makes it a Bit tougher, i understand it can be annoying, i have to deal with it, too, but everyone is affected equal and whoever wants to win an easy championship can chose a weaker league.

Just to add to Bastian's.

As per Jack, there's very little difference in performance between levels 18 to 20 managers and drivers. They purposely designed the game that way to level the field.
That matches what Bastian is talking about. In a competitive league where the lowest manager level is at least 17 there are "no free lunches". every wrong move may cost you a hundred of a second/lap. It adds up quickly.

Off topic;
I haven't heard of any manager coming from pro to elite and winning Elite on their 1st season.
