It really ticks me off how these three things aren't able to be seen outside of 2D mode, and it makes it hard to stragetize if you don't know how much fuel and tyre wear you have left. It also prevents you from pitting if your tyre wear is at 0% and you don't know this, so you start suddenly falling behind in the rankings while not being able to do anything even if you know what it is for an entire lap, which by then can be too late if it's a very tight race.

i totaly agree with you, it woud be nice to see fuel and tire stats

2D-Pack should be renamed "premium features" then.

Because race infos (fuel, tyre, temp etc.) are the main features 2D-packer are looking for, i guess.

It can ruin people's strategy of the game without the fuel, laps left and tyre wear known to them. It is nearly pointless for someone without 2D to watch a race.

The 'Timing Screen Telemetry' is not as bad as you are saying, i agree the info available to subs is good but you can gain tyre wear info from the times you are setting. Not always easy i know but there has to a benefit for people paying for it.

Now thats not to say people not paying for it cant be competitive. Ive seen a few non subs crack the top 20 in the game which in itself is an awesome achievement

I know, but what can iGP offer to make people pay for it, if the fuel, tyre wear etc.. is available for the free users ?

If the only benefit of being a paid-user is the 2D... i think nobody will pay anymore... because watching dots with number on it running on a JPEG is not that funny :D

Maybe it would be good to add basic and advanced telemetry, basic for all, advanced for paid...

Yeah, payed users just 'buy' an advantage now over non-payed users. Livery is nice, but it's not really part of the game. 2D is nice too, but I often use the text-only pane as well.

At the very least it would be nice to be able to control KERS in the non-2D verson. For those of us who have paid for 2D on one or even two accounts, it'd be nice to control 2D on the accounts we don't have 2D on that we're spectating. Also may be nice for non-2D'ers all together.

Thank you for your Feedback.
The team are working on a way to give more information to the Non-subscribers. In the later future, you may get 2D for free while subs will get 3D track to watch from.

Just remember, the subscription is no more than £2.49 (US$4.06) pcm in a year deal of £29.99 (US$48.74)

I'd like to enjoy the tasty goodness of half of a delicious pizza, but I don't want to pay for the whole pizza. Why can't I have four or five pieces for free? I don't want all six.

I think the pizza companies had better sort this out.

Great sarcastic metaphor.

A 3d track seems pretty overkill given the current problems with the game. As been harping on about this since this time last year (well, just before/after the first update came out). All a non-2d player needs is the current system, fuel levels and tyre temps. This enables a player to race on pretty even ground. The 2d mode becomes part of a premium feature set with further statistics and strategy information that hardcore players can use to review. Livery editor was a good start on this type of feature set.

I went back and found my original post here: http://igpmanager.com/play/?url=forum-thread/1219

I think Jack, Andrew and everyone else involved do a great job but at the same time the priorities seem a bit strange. The development system will be great when its delivered but rather than a 3D mode (or even stuff that has been in previous updates such as sounds/car icons) I would've preferred to see things like:

The ability to force players up/down tiers in private leagues so players can play together - or allowing "private leagues" where players can be grouped together regardless of tier

Be able to switch from a 1 car to 2 car league without having to recreate the league from scratch.

Real life factors in racing based on things such as push/driver skill/other level - eg. driver mistakes

Ability to re-watch races in 2d mode (if a subscriber)

Ability to see if previous race setup was wet or dry when loaded

Ability to manage races on iOS

Java problems solved (I know this is ongoing, but hey, this is a wishlist)

The ability to chat before races (which broke in update 1)

The ability to purchase rewards for leagues (eg. Winner of the league gets a 1 month 2d pack purchased by another player)

2d mode to remember previous settings (so you don't have to turn auto-kers and other settings on/off every time)

The ability to delay races if needed on the league admin side (handy for things like christmas)

Increased telemetry for subscribers

More updates from development team (or from a community rep tasked with the job of updating)

A more regular/announced update schedule - even if fuzzy.
I know I'm only 1 person and people would have wildly different opinions, but the above features are things that I can't understand wouldn't be addressed before a 3D client is even thought of. All those things above are the things that keep your players here, keep them subscribing and expand the player base by increasing usability. A 3D client is a nice gimmick that isn't needed at this stage. I know many people on the fence about subscribing that aren't renewing because iGP aren't addressing these fundamental usability and ease of use issues. I won't be renewing my sub and I've been here since day 1 if the above aren't on their way to being addressed. I love the game, I just want to see if be successful but the development path that is mentioned sometimes (not all the time, plenty of times its on the right track) really has me scratching my head.

Just to clarify a point - 3D isn't going to be happening anytime soon.  Most the above issues mentioned by Kade will be resolved and fixed long before anyone sees 3D.  I gather there is far too much work being done on the game as it is, to progress any 3D developement.  But I assume, as David says, the subscription perk will be 3D - which I can assure you will be worth it.

Instead of building into the free applet if this idea is planned, why not just build a version of the 2d applet that doesn't load the track image? Just give them the exact same applet and make it not load the track image on purpose if that is possible, this way free users still have the same functionality as 2D users and they can actually use their weather station aswell (at the moment it's completely pointless for a free user)

WOW... So much BS spouted from 1 or 2... How the hell do these people remember how to take an intake of breath ever few seconds.. :D :D :D

100% FACT that the paid people have a huge advantage and I will ALWAYS tell the F2P players what is going on with their cars during the race... If they bother to sit there watching timings that they have 0 idea of what is going on...

I am one that can complain as I am still on a rolling subscription and pay my £5 per month every month.. So I have more than a right to moan about stuff as I am paying more in to the game than most others..

F2P NEED more.. I have said this over and over and will always go on about it until something is done.

F2P is boring as hell and I 100% understand why people sign up and then they are gone within weeks as watch a board of times is meh at it's best..

Paid people should be getting extras behind the scenes

Paid in to browser games = faster ranking with better equipment and so on to help your Team / Player grow.. but once it's game time ANY level 10 should be able to beat another level 10 Paid or F2P.. It should be all about how you set your team up.. Once it's game time.. It's a level playing field..

The main thing is that when the F2P goes from level 10 to 12.. The paid members should be between 13 and 15...

Paid accounts need other things instead and give the 2D for EVERYONE...

Also the 3D... REALLY... wow.. That is a good one.. We've only been waiting for over a year for simple fixes to happen and 3D is bought up... More chance of the Mayans predicting  the end of the world before 3D is needed or wanted over simple fixes... Oh wait..

The ability to force players up/down tiers in private leagues so players can play together - or allowing "private leagues" where players can be grouped together regardless of tier
Recipe for abuse, this system would be rather disruptive to managers aswell as favouritism on who gets to race who in the league. This however can be simply accomplished by disabling Promotion.

Be able to switch from a 1 car to 2 car league without having to recreate the league from scratch.
The problem with this idea is that, their are 32 different teams, being changed to 32 2-car teams which would result in a 64 car grid. You won't want that, on a stability concern.

Real life factors in racing based on things such as push/driver skill/other level - eg. driver mistakes
Already implimented and is on live. Drivers forgetting to pit is one.

Ability to re-watch races in 2d mode (if a subscriber)
Ideally this would be a great idea, but the server is too limited in performance for 200 managers looking at 200 races, also to store that much information would require alot of storage space.

Ability to see if previous race setup was wet or dry when loaded
I've requested that Andrew allow a grid tire/fuel change prior to the start of the race, instead of relying on an automatic system to switch the tires. Starting at the back you want to be heavier to get clean air at the end of your first stint to pull some laps away.

Ability to manage races on iOS
This is generally due to the incompatability with Java on the iOS, however Jack is working on making it work.

Java problems solved (I know this is ongoing, but hey, this is a wishlist)
It will always be a wishlist. There is no way to clear up all the bugs, considering the programming as a thread. Some of the thread is split, you remove (Fix) that split and another one unravels.

The ability to chat before races (which broke in update 1)
This was working again on Beta, however broke again, Andrew is working on the problem.

The ability to purchase rewards for leagues (eg. Winner of the league gets a 1 month 2d pack purchased by another player)
This would be heavily abused to get free 2D. At the moment, Jack and Andrew are trying to reduce the number of exploits found in the game, including free 2D races.

2d mode to remember previous settings (so you don't have to turn auto-kers and other settings on/off every time)
While this would be beneficial, this however would leave you with a dilemma if you cannot attend your race. Your drivers never used KERs, cause it was auto-switched off.

The ability to delay races if needed on the league admin side (handy for things like christmas)
The Moderating Team is expanding to work with more readily response on issues for restarting, postponing, and delaying races.

Increased telemetry for subscribers
There is currently a new GUI being Designed, in Jack's Head. More on that another day.

More updates from development team (or from a community rep tasked with the job of updating)
New moderators will be able to do this for the developers, aswell as more announcements, and monthly or quarterly Q&A

A more regular/announced update schedule - even if fuzzy.
The problem is, we don't know when updates will be available for release, let alone release them on time. The come when they are ready, like bigger games, specifically MMO's do not disclose the release dates of their games and expansions until they are very close to completion.

Just to say - I have to use Mobile Timing, as my laptop is broken. I just spend especially long working out a good strategy.
And I get good results too.

snip

I'm going to snip a lot of it out since I don't want to requote the whole post and some of it is nice to see - a lot of it is a cop out though. I'll go through a few.

Promotion/Relegation disabling does not solve the problem of playing with friends - if I play iGP and have for a while, get a group of friends online/at work in to it, they all enjoy it, then the stars have to align for us all to be in one group - or we have to start brand new accounts to make a league with promotion/relegation disabled and keep us together. There are ways to do this simply - enchance the private league system to have an option that disables things like ranking, promotion, relegation and ignores your tier. A game flagged as a 'private game' is basically an independent game that you can play with friends without the outside factors. I know this technically may be difficult, but that's a money spinner. People like to play with friends. People like to bring their friends to their games. Friends bring enjoyment and enjoyment brings subscriptions.

Switching from 1 to 2 car leagues - don't allow it to happen unless the league has 16 players or less. Simple. Most of the scenarios where i've seen the switch happen is because players are leaving the 1 car league game and the grid has shrunk, so 2 cars are enabled.

Driver mistakes - I can't say I've noticed any real driver error in races past fuel issues. If it does occur past that, how about some feedback so we can adjust push level based on driver mistakes as well? Commentry exists already. Another addition to the game that would enhance racing

2d replays- I'd be surprised if 200 people watched 200 replays at once. I think your assumption is waaaay over inflated. As I write this post, it would require over 50% of the online managers watching replayed races at the same time. Still, it's a feature people want and something that would justify the inflated subscription cost.

Purchased prizes - Can you give an example how this would be abused? I pay the subscription fee, it's deducted from my credit card/paypal and the site keeps it in escrow for the winner of the league/tier I determined in the league admin settings. The game gets money, winner gets 2d. If the game is always getting the subscription fee and someone is paying it, how is it open to abuse? It's the same as any other subscription except the winner, instead of the buyer, gets the subscription. There is little difference between this system and gifting a subscription.

Saving settings - Put a warning on the screen and potentially a confirmation dialog. Personally, I'd rather have it keep settings and risk the odd race without autokers than have to redo it every single time. Or just make autokers a setting that isnt carried across but everything else is.

Delaying races - My request wasn't for site admins but for league admins - give them the power to pause/postpone a league for a set period of time - say up to 5 days - for things like Christmas/Easter/other public holidays

Feedback on updates - You're confusing 2 very different things here - progress/update vs release schedule. I don't care about a release schedule, I don't need to know what day something is going to come out. What I don't like though is no information whatsoever. We have a blogging function on the homepage that is largely unused. Don't give dates, but it would be nice to say 'Hey, we've hit some problems with the new development system this week and it's blown us out by a few weeks' and then the following week 'Hey, we're working hard on this! Still looking at a few weeks', then again, 'We nailed that problem but it opened up some issues with the new UI' or something. The site has blogs, twitter, facebook and so on and it uses all of them poorly. Once again, this doesn't need to be Jack or Andrew - you readily tout the problems and features that are upcoming, why can't you do this each week? Or, if you're busy, someone that has similar knowledge? It's community management 101 - keep your players updated and involved. Currently the only way this is achieved is through this forum and nearly all of the traffic is through Bugs and Suggestions. You will find all major MMOs and bigger games always release information when there is a large community at hand.

You'll notice that I skipped over some points - this isn't because I'm ignoring them, its because either you explained them well or I know what the answer was anyhow and I still listed it as something that should be a priority (such as Java issues and iOS development). Although we tend to have different viewpoints on many factors, I appreciate the time that you take the time out to reply here. I think critical debate is great for the game and can only move it forward.
