Darren
As I'm the dev that is for the most part maintaining the simulation code I can only apologise for the amount of time it has taken to investigate and attempt to resolve this issue.
Please remember we are a small team and we don't have the big budget of a AAA game to hire a big amount of developers to look into bugs and at the same time develop features to keep us ahead our or at least on par with out competitors.
To this point, we have recently, as noted by Jack in his forum post recently, have been working on what we believed we needed to, to help the game and the business in the future. Meaning we have been working on other parts of the game and services. The simulation was put to the side for the most part on this with nobody really having the time to fully investigate the issues reported.
We have been listening to the community and addressing what we can. We have got to a point now where we can start putting our energy and concentration on the reported issues with the simulation. Like the 'Prape' bug, qualifying, flags and safety car bugs that have come up since around christmas time.
Over the next few days I'm hoping to do another patch to the back end race simulation that should go towards the prape bug fix. It may not completely fix the issue outright but because there is so many variables and complexity to the race simulations a bug like Prape could be down to more than one issue having a knock on affect to others.
I would also ask to the person that mentioned about the 5 cars overtaking in one corner, is this a recent race? This bug was reported before the latest update went live and should be resolved. Do you have a race id where you saw this behaviour and I can look into the logs.
Please do remember we are listening and we are addressing your issues , it just takes a time due to the size of our team and we will get there.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Darren, pls test this patch carefully before putting it out there. Bad memories spring to my mind when i read IT-people (no disrespect) using words like ‘patches’ and ‘hotfixes’ with a ‘knock-on-effect’.
In my experience (other games but also in my professional life) these solutions, when not properly tested, solve one issue but create more problems or bugs then they solve. If not properly tested, these are the kind of patches that have the ability to cause mayhem and ruin races or seasons.
And i wouldn’t like that because i’m totally hooked. For which i have to say: well done, you guys created a great game. Easy to learn hard to master, well balanced, no adds forced upon us, thats darn hard to accomplish. Also, no childish features like having to collect boxes for engine parts or famous drivers. Last but not least: it doesn’t give me headaches which is pretty rare (i suffer from migraine pretty easily).
So please don’t overwhelm us with new bugs by trying to resolve old bugs, thats all i’m asking for.
Thx in advance
