What did you try to do?
Normal qualifying prior to the 17th race of the season, French iGP. My car stats were:
Acceleration 199 (200-1 from combo Rednote + Elves);
Handling 200;
Braking 200 (195+5 from Bridgerock);
Downforce 200 (190+10 from Rednote);
Fuel Economy 70 (72-2 from Elves);
Tyre Economy 36;
Cooling 39
Reliability 20.
My suppliers were: Rednote, Elves and Bridgerock.
Quick comparison: current leader in our league had Acceleration, Handling, Downforce and Braking on 200 and fuel eco 80.
What happened instead?
I qualified 21st, even behind some usual backmarkers. League leader qualified 4th, with a time 0.150s faster than mine on same compound.
Did the problem happen while using wi-fi, mobile data, or both?
Wi-fi
Did the bug happen in the app, on PC, or both?

If this is not a bug and is working as intended, I'd appreciate if you could not just delete this thread and actually tell me what am I doing wrong. This is a particularly frustrating issue I've been having since the new qualifying system was introduced and I need to know how / if I can overcome it. Thank you in advance.

I am in the same league and my car stats are
Acc 199
Bra 200
Hand 200
Down 200
Fuel eco 84
Tyre eco 43
And I was also 0.150 faster than him
Mark Wickerbill medal 5197 4 years 115 days ago
I’m also in the same league.
My car stats were
Accel 200
Braking 200
Downforce 200
Handling 200
Fuel eco 83
Tyre eco 43
I qualified 0.149 faster today. It’s been very consistent that Damian’s quali times are horrible throughout the past several seasons. We often compare car development and his quali times don’t seem to match up when compared to his car development and that of the cars regularly beating him.
Damian Diaconu medal 5000 4 years 114 days ago
Just to add up some data, for today's race I had same stats as in the post except fuel eco which was 97. Another player in the league had acceleration,handling, downforce and braking on 200, tyre eco 50, and fuel eco 141.
I qualified 14th, while he qualified 17th. Needless to say, in such a competitive league as ours, this ruined our race.
So what's exactly going on here?
Alexander Fass medal 5000 4 years 112 days ago
I honestly doubt the gap from P9 (my team) to P20 (Damian Diaconu) should be this big. This occurence is no outlier. Damian is a championship contender who already won multiple titles in our league and has qualified lower than P10 throughout most of the season. Would love if somebody can run the numbers on this because it's clashing with the competitive integrity of our league.
Thanks in advance.

it must be the drivers causing these differences then. How do their heights compare? (I can't see the image above too clearly because I'm on phone)
edit: I saved the image and looked over it, Nico is 0.03m shorter than, I've heard rumours that taller drivers are better in this game, perhaps that is the problem? For now the only solution I can think of is trying a few different drivers and seeing how close they can get to the front.
Damian Diaconu medal 5000 4 years 109 days ago
I just saw a similar thread on this forum regarding the qualify, so there is a problem with this system after all. Anyways, the 0.03m difference imho doesn't justify the 11-place gap; also, i happened to qualify behind people with worse drivers, lower lvls and worse cars than mine at that point of the season, so it just doesn't make any sense. I'm starting the new season today with the best stats possible, so let's see if that still happens.
Damian Diaconu medal 5000 4 years 108 days ago
2 races into the season and my quali situation is worse than ever. Despite having a 5 star Acc CD, 5 star research and 4.5 stars, maxed-out, 1.89m tall driver, I achieved 21st on first race and 22nd on second one (yet on same compound, even behind less experienced managers and spending everytime all the points achieved) and finished those races in 5th (after running out of fuel on the last corner) and 2nd, while Alexander qualified in the second race on 3rd (with 18 design points yet to be assigned on car stats) and obviously won it. It's like I'm having 2 performance scores: one for the race, which follows the actual car stats, and one for the quali that follows wierd rules, completely different from the car development. Is it my driver? He's on par with all other top runners except 0.03m smaller, maybe he's bugged? How can I tell the "slower" drivers from the "faster" ones? Or I'm just looking at the wrong thing?

im sick to the back teeth of the qualifying system im always 16th and 17th despite my development being on par with everyone else, race ruined race after race
why waste my time spending an hour racing when i know even from setup i have no chance of competing
you taken the fun out of the game for me personally
Jack Van Challis medal 5000 4 years 104 days ago
I have a similar situation, one that has been apparent for 6 seasons or more. In the season that i won a pro championship, i won 8 races out of 19 but didn't get a single pole position. One race i started 14th and 17th and got a 1-2 with a ten second advantage at the finish at one race. Now a few seasons into a very competitive elite league and I'm generally finishing in the 5-10 region, but I'm rarely in the top 15 or even 20 in qualifying. It takes so much time and effort to move through the pack when my cars have race pace somewhere on par with the leaders. I assumed it was down to how i develop the car, or hidden driver stats that unfortunately make both my drivers weak in qualifying, but if it is down to a bug or something else then i hope it can be sorted
Andrew Higgins medal 5000 4 years 104 days ago
thank you there are loads of bugs in the game and thats 1 that needs sorting

I agree, i love this game but it's by no means perfect. I can live with the other bugs because they don't happen all the time, if this is a bug hampering some managers in qualifying then it's a daily problem. It's like trying to win a marathon in flip flops ??

@Jack: it will most likely be down to car... Unless you are yo-yoing up and down the grid, it is most likely poor (or even just wrong for this circuit) development that is at fault. What is good in quali isn't necessarily best in the race (e.g Handling in the final sector for spain: In the race absolutely crucial to get DRS, in quali, important but no-where near so much. Even developing something like downforce instead of more important stats like acceleration, Braking or handling, can make your car slightly slower. But back to the "bug" above (same car, slower quali)... This I have no answer for ?

For a long time i assumed it was to do with me and the car development, and it probably still is to an extent. I'd rather have a better car for the race than qualifying. But I've consistently had results that contradict that. For instance, first race of a season, after a whole season with an optimal CD, I'll still be slower in qualifying than lower level managers, with worse drivers and worse CD. Like i said, i absolutely love the game, and if the problem is down to me then i totally accept that. But i have experienced situations that make me wonder if something else is up. Thanks for your input too, I'll try some things and see what happens ?

I saw those teams and they have CD's at their team level + drivers with good driving abilities (the most important driver aspect that matters for qualy). Not a bug since research can take huge gaps to nothing in a couple of races.
But going back to original thread, it indeed has something wrong with 2 similar drivers having discrepancy on 1 lap runs. I've tested some possibilities but they seem to be inconclusive as there are a lot of things different than what I expected. Hope it can be cleared out some day.

I understand what you're saying, and yes, i am in a league with very competitive and intelligent managers. But i also always have cds at my team level, and both of my drivers are now 20s across the board on driving skill. I've tried different approches to design and research and it only seems to hinder race pace, with little to no effect on qualifying.
I'm not complaining, i absolutely love the game, and maybe i just haven't figured out the right balance yet, but the difference is so huge it makes me wonder. Thanks for your thoughts

I've been going back & forth with Jack in my thread about this. I had the same issue in the last 4 races, with everything maxed at 200. If that sheds any light on the situation :/

Bumping this because the issue is still unresolved. Damian and myself have swapped drivers prior to the season to make 100% sure the issue is not driver related. Damian keeps getting qualified in the double digits while i am getting top 5s constantly with his ex-driver who couldn't get a top 10 quali for most of the 20 races our league is running. Would like someone to look into this issue and get into contact with Damian if possible. The issue seems account related for reasons unknown.
