Dave
Being able to release staff for others to pick up was an absolute boon for when established managers wanted to help out smaller teams in their league.
I understand that the dev's need to combat unfair practices, as a small few ruin it for all. If the dev's are going to close off that loophole then what about adding an option to direct sell to another player? Then we can have the choice of auction and hope for the best or being able to release to a named team so long standing managers, like myself, can continue to help the newer teams as best we can.
I'm out of words, really.
If the "
sell now" option or the drivers/staffs without contracts were indeed being exploited, then you need to present us with a solution for a problem that 99.9% weren't even aware of, not straight up close the door without any previous warning!
I, for example, was having a problem as my drivers contracts ran out in a messy few races in the league. Thankfully José returned them to me, but it was after a few days. In the meantime I had promoted 2 young drivers to sell to someone in the league or just move them to another account, but now I have 2 new drivers that won't go anywhere until I can safely move them over, if this is even possible... ?♂️
As a big loss wasn't enough, I made the mistake of being off for a few days and lost a 5* CD ?♂️. Guess what? I can't even trust my shortlist to find a substitute anymore! ?
Summary:
You just threw into the bin 2 features of the game (sell now and shortlist);
Infuriated a lot of managers, if not all;
The 'problem' might still be unsolved as those doing this can also lookup for good drivers/staffs as soon as they go into the market in a matter of time and;
You haven't proposed a solution!
So we might have to wait months, if not years, waiting for a "feature" that hasn't been implemented yet or isn't even been developed at the very moment the
"update" was launched.
As Dave said, negotiating directly with the intended buyer might be a 'solution' for some cases, especially drivers for new managers, but it isn't good enough IMHO.
I really appreciate your work, but that's just a step backwards without a workaround solution ?
Anyway, if you intend to add a negotiation system, try not to copy Top Eleven as they have:
A cap for the very best football players to sell on their "great deals";
Has a restricted period to negotiate (only very late in the season) to "prevent" gains in using multiple accounts by buying player at a young age and training it up;
Has a significant high cost to the system, giving few tokens to the intended seller and;
Has a limited amount of players available to buy.
Especially, P2W.
