Hide KERS usage

Hello to all concerned. I realized a long time ago that it is necessary to hide the use of KERS, rivals should not know at what point it happens. And I'm far from the first to think about it, take a look at this publication: https://igpmanager.com/forum-thread/3102 Even more than eight years ago, the players talked about it, but they were ignored. I didn't even bother to come up with another title and took it from the author. And I wouldn't have written about it at all today if it wasn't for this guy who reminded me of the problem. And yes, this is a real problem! Instead of independently tracking the pace of rivals, we have players similar to Pavlov's dog. I have specific and detailed suggestions, but it is also important to me that other thinking players respond, because this is a very important topic for discussion.

Hi there Vlad. I would say absolutely not. Also I think it's not polite to ask one more time after being rejected to request a feature.

If maybe it can be a league rule for a league you manage but I can't see it getting implimented for a variety of reasons


  • It's very clear without the UI cues that it's being used

  • Everyone can see it, it disadvantages no-one.

  • It's also similar for viewing like real life Motorsports.



I much rather see regenerating KERS to help with Fuel Management with No Refueling League Rules.

There is nothing impolite in my insistence, because I am talking about what I consider important, and I am not the only one. It's not polite to reject reasonable ideas without allowing discussion to begin.

Yes, I agree, this is what is called the beginning of the discussion. After all, I did not offer to attach square wheels to the cars or place springboards on the track, I'm talking about reasonable things.

No real racer wants his rivals to see and know what he is doing in real time. Isn't that clear?

It's a good idea and I've been thinking about it, but before the players vote I'd like them to get to the bottom of the matter. I know that most people always choose the most convenient option, as a rule, this is what they have long been accustomed to. But my suggestion is a bit revolutionary for the game... It requires a more thoughtful approach than simply choosing the option you like.

I absolutely agree.
In reality, when you're watching a viewer, you're aided by an operator giving you a nice picture and there's a lot more to show you.
When you're driving a car, for some reason you don't see the plumes when you use ERS, you don't know if your opponent has ERS, and you don't know how much fuel is in his car.
And just like that I agree with Pavlov's dog reflexes. It's dumb.

You are confusing ers and boost. In all championship in which there is boost, all the teams have the possibility to know how much boost a driver still have. Then that s right that then you have a small delay as this info will be communicated via radio but it is totally wrong to say that in real racing the oponents do not know how much boost you still have.

ERS is something totally different and nothing to do with the boost we have in this game.

Like "separated Push for Engine", this sounds good on paper but in reality would be frustrating for managers.

First, with the absence of the boost usage and approximated remaining boost, the management of the race would be a bunch of unknowns, even for the best managers of the game. It's not like we have real-time gaps and the ability to see both ends of the leaderboard or having someone else taking care of the car(s) like motorsport teams do IRL.

Second, for longer race distances and/or 2 car leagues it would be near impossible for the average manager, or even great ones, to keep up with how much boost they think their opponents have and/or on which of the cars.

Third, have you ever played at 2.0x? Because even with the current system it's actually hard to check all the cars around you and still manage Push Levels with enough time as corners come one after the other. This is even harder for mobile users!

Now imagine this: if you were doing your race and suddenly the car in front pulled away seemly using boost, so you react... but if this "boost" usage was actually a lag spike? Would you know for sure before reacting or would you be more at a disadvantage on poor connections?

I actually enjoy the current system not because it's perfect, but because it gives margin to interpretation and experience to make better predictions (boost remaining not being accurate) and reacting time for a battery popping up, especially at connections with high ping, which is common for a world wide game played in multiple platforms.

P.S.: On the poll in the other suggestion thread the "YES" is actually losing at the moment 😅

knowing the amount of their opponents' remaining boost is like playing card games with an open hand. what is the interest in this? most races after the last pit stop turn into trivial acts when competitors have so much information about each other and the outcome of the race is effectively a foregone conclusion without any fight. yeah, the races will become more difficult, but it will also add to the excitement.

It’s just a confusion of names, don’t get to hyped about it, he means Boost, and it serves the same purpose in this game

Of course! And I wrote earlier about why this happens.

Unfortunately, but if a player has problems with the connection he is doomed to lose in such situations, regardless of whether he sees the indication of KERS or not.

Great analogy, I didn't remember that and had to use a more convoluted comparison. But for me it's more important to just remove the indication on the track, it would make the players more independent in the race relative to each other.

One option would be to update your opponent's KERS balance in a separate tab in the race interface, where the information would be updated after each lap. Personally, I would like this to be only a few times during the race, for example every 10 laps and after the finish of the race, but apparently I am too demanding...

But what I would like to suggest is a counter which counts how many times your opponent did use boost. 
I mean not the amount just how often they pushed the button.

For example:
Guy A pushes boost and hold it for 10%….
Guy B pushes boast and hold it for 1%

Both counters will say they used boost once, but you don’t know how much they use.
This could be add a new tactical element to confused your opponents

I agree to you. Your opponents may be confused. But, after all, this is only meaningful in close races, not in races where the managers' car are far too different to others in terms of race pace.
On the other hand, if the KERS usage is still there, managers can choose their time to deploy the boosts more correctly (maybe turn it on together with the DRS, etc). In my opinion, this one can become a league rule.
 When I use the KERS, it currently just not enough to charge through your opponent (i mean, especially in low level, it doesn't help you a lot in terms of overtaking or race pace). So, it can be a good idea to increase the strength of the KERS (if you watched F1 or play F1 game, you know that the ERS can improve the car speed by up to 20mph at maximum use, which is even bigger than DRS). And, as the ERS is used in a whole race and the KERS is non-rechargeable, the strength of KERS is really important, especially when the Technology site in the HQ only increase the amount of boost you have, but not its power.
