I tried the demo version a few months ago and didn't find it all that much interesting.

But now that the value is free for the entire game for some time, I can determine if maybe I was wrong.

I've just completed the British Series and I still hold the same outlook I did from trying the demo version. I'll keep playing to see what Tier 1 is like.

The new iGP will be miles better than MM in my opinion.

It was free on iOS last week......

Anyway, I'm currently on my 5th season on that game. My first was in the British Racing Series, where I got P2. I then won 4 of the 6 races, and the championship, the next season. I then went to the Australian competition where I won every single race. Having won both 4th-tier titles, I moved up to the European Series in Tier 3 for season 4, where I proceeded to fail. My best result of the season was 4th place, and I eventually claimed 5th in the CC. I stayed in that league, where I have just taken pole for Monaco for doing a perfectly timed lap when the rain was about to start.

My biggest tip to anyone is to NEVER RENEW CONTRACTS. I've gotten better drivers and staff all but one time, and unless you have nearly the max specification, you might as well let their contract expire.

I deleted MM a few days ago. The simulation is terrible. When my tyres would begin to wear out (20%) cars that were half a lap behind would catch me in less than a lap.

You can't take tyres past a certain length. It's realistic somewhat that they hit the cliff when there is about 25% left and the best way to get around that is not to try and complete the race on a low quantity of stops.

On this game, you can technically do 50% Monaco on SS SS 1-stop if you really try, but does that make it fastest?

I have never played it but by the sounds of it 23% life left in the tyres is hitting the cliff, bit like the tyres in the F1 2015 game, car will still be drivable to go another 2 laps but you will lose chunks of time. We don't have problems like that here 0% is our cliff, a flat tyre :D

F1 2015 has a really realistic tyre-wear model, 2013 was much more extreme. This game is 2013 in terms of cliff extremity but 2015 in terms of you can conserve it

:) you hit the nail on the head James.
F1 2013 tyres clear to red without any big lose of speed.
F1 2015 tyres clear to light orange without lose of speed, orange to red it's like using inters & then wets on a dry track for the last 4laps of the tyres really brings the driver out in you trying to stay fast and smooth so as not to blow the tyre

Whose head did I hit? I hope they are OK xD

In 2015, you'll never get an undriveable situation, unlike 2013 where they just suddenly hit the cliff and you can't drive a corner without facing the other way at any point.

You have not done too much offline racing in 2013 I can understand why :) because online & offline gearing is different.
In free practice you can take the tyres to the limit and see the amount of wear in the tyre diagram back in the garage. Very useful to know that the tyres can be red for so many laps before they are un-drivable.

2015 you can keep going till you blow a tyre, trouble is you don't have to be at the cliff 23% dark orange it can happen even at 50% if the tyre is too hot.

I was aware that my tyres were falling off a cliff but cars that were on 30-40% through their tyres on the same compound shouldn't be able to catch me so quickly.

I spoke to Christian (the guy behind Motorsport Manager) today. We both knew what we were working on for some time, and that's one reason of many that we're both heading in slightly different directions.

They have been working on desktop gameplay for over a year, and doing so with massive investment and a large team of developers (compared to iGP), with the backing of Sega. We've been on a course towards cross-platform play in that same period.

They seem to be primarily targeting desktop single player play, while we're targeting cross-platform multiplayer play. It's great for the players, and there are plenty of options now. Trackday Manager also launched recently on Steam and was developed in Norway, ironically.

Since the new igp seems to be designed around the smartphone and/or tablet, the new Motorsport Manager could become a real competitor for the pc players of igp.

Disagree with you Thijs, for now MM is only a solo game and it is not a mmo so it doesn't compete in the same category.

What Joey said. Folks playing MM will be looking to play with the solo aspect whereas iGP is a multiplayer game for players looking to play with friends.

I was going by hunches in my post above, but since then it's published that it is single player. I was also told by Christian West (CTO) that multiplayer isn't on the cards. It's clear that they are emulating Football Manager, even joining the same publisher and dropping support of the mobile game to focus on the new project.

Different strokes for different folks. Some really enjoy negotiating contracts for hours in single player. But we're focused on the cross-device multiplayer experience and racing with friends above all else. So it's about what you prefer. The games are aimed at different people.
