I just noticed my league has disabled promotion over halfway through the season. We started with around 24 teams in our league, and I fought my way up to P2 and was set to be promoted to the Pro level. Now we only have 13 teams and a message saying promotion has been disabled.
I can sort of understand disabling promotion for under-filled leagues at the start of the season, but it seems kind of unfair to work your way up only to have promotion disabled through circumstances outside your control. I'm curious as to why this is happening.

UPDATE:
If your current season started with the old regulations it will end with them. The new regulations will start in the next season.

Fair enough. Guess since our league is split 13 rookie and 13 pro with no chance of promotion it's time to find a new league. Unfortunate...

you would be better advertising your league as you only need 3 more to enable promotion, rather than 13 of you ditching to try find somewhere new

I am in the same league and will also just leave it after the season. How do you suggest we promote our league? Make T-shirts or something or give away free pie to everyone who joins our league (and lives really really nearby)?

This new system reminds me of FIA: Changig rules in the midst of a season. I
n the German Internatioinal League (first seasonand new since ten dasy) we have 21 teams –14 teams in Rookie and 8 in Pro. And now suddenly and without any reason there will only be 4 teams promoted to Pro after the season. And in the Pro section thee will also only 4 teams being upgraded to Elite. Silly and boring. No fun.
Time to think about to end playing this game. There are too many things very "beta" anyway,
Maybe the developers want to stay alone.

And now the first team has left our Rookie league because of the new system. If that is what the staff wanted: Thank you very kindly!

I am leading my league mid season. So, most probably, the new rules will not affect my promotion.
But this new system is BS nevertheless. It blows the efforts of the teams that are in fifth or sixth position and therefore ˜ sounds logical – developed for the actual season. Now, after eight races, that strategy is relentlessly kicked by iGP. Had they known at the start of the season they most probably had decided to put much more weight on developing for next season.
You should have changed the rules with a notice of about three or four weeks time ahead but not that sudden,so evrybody reading the forum, anouncements could have adopted the strategy.
Yours is not a very good decision. Takes out the fun for 25 per cent of the managers. Nice.
I cannot believe that this was your intention. Maybe that decision was made too hastly and without evaluating the consequences.

I can understand this change needs to be made, but with a 32 player league there are only 4 players promoted and 2 relegated the thing that I am finding most difficult is that alot of people become very inactive when in elite tier, because they have forgotten or lost interest so I only have 8 players in elite. So next season I m only going to have 13 people in elite which is not enough. PS Yer you can moan about it but its done the changes have been made and need to be made because there are alot of leagues with just one or two players which become very bad for the Ranks etc.

Don't like it either. My development strategy was purely set up to the relegation zone, as I dind't saw a chance to win. So I changed my goals. Now I need to change my development approach again and what did look for good until now, leaves me now with a high risk of failing.
Isn't there enough to learn and to deal with? Do I have to take the "change management" of the devs into consideration in addition?
Sorry, Sirs, but I feel like taken for a ride. :(

Things seem to change per day - thats no fun. As a software developer I say: that's not professionell.
There should be an anouncement that things will change. AND there should be a thing like a "changes.txt" where we can read in list form, what has been changed!

Hi,
I am the team who left the rookie-tier of Niki Lauda and I wasn't glad about it.
Finally I found a great league with good "sport" being active, talking with each other and all that. I loved being in the German International League. I changed to that league some days before.
The thing is: I have a (nerarly) 100% rookie car at the moment. It would have been no problem for me to ride through the field easily (by the way: The difference between a 100% car and a 60% car is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to big! I could win any race in sleep mode).
But that would mean I kick out one of those, being active on the league and fighting for relegation. There was a place left, where teams battled half the season to get there.
With changing the relegation system that spot is gone, and if I manoveour one handed through the field in second half of season I just slap their faces. Thex developed for that relegation spot and now its all senseless and their car would be not as good as possible next year. They will lose again most probably against those teams, which did develop for next season from, the beginning, because they are new and didn't see a chance from the start.
Is that fair?
Thats not what you do in a league where people start to get friends with each other. So I left my new home, went back to my former league, which is quiet like a grve and will be getting back in GIL, when I manage to be Elite, so I can fill the field up, don't do harm to the strategies of my competitors and have fun again in a wonderul league.
I agree with Alexander Fermor Hesketh: "I have been taken for a ride..." (would express it more harsh, but let's leave it this way).
As well: I don't understand the reasons. Things would have cleared up in the future anyway At least it would have been the same for all of us and anybody would have get, what he see's without that change.
Now a lot of people looking at their strategy and goals and will see them traited.... That sucks.
Vincent Wagner medal 5000 12 years 263 days ago
To be exact: I am not the one leaving Niki Lauda's league. Not that familiar with our Elite's right away. But the bottomline is probably the same.
Jack Basford medal 5025 CEO & CTO 12 years 263 days ago
I completely agree with the sentiments in this thread and it was a mistake to implement it without adequate counter-measures.
In response, I have changed how it works. If you are in an old league where the season started with old regulations it will end with them. The new regulations will apply after the current season ends. :) For new leagues and seasons the new system applies.

I think you honestly thought you were trying to help make things better but ended up making enemies.
I am a past master at doing that!
Glad to see it will all worked out ok and the game continues to improve.
