That is a real pity.
I do wish you would give it a little longer as issues with Java seem to happen in loads of other games etc.
The guys are working so hard to sort it out.

Same annoyances here. I'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.8), which apparently means I can't use Java 7, which apparently means I can't play a web game.

Chris, I have just adjusted the update check system so that the applets will still try to load using your current version of Java if you decline the upgrade request.  I hope this works for you.

Hi Andrew, sorry for clogging up 2 threads. Much appreciated with your support. A few minutes ago I was presented with a black screen when I declined the upgrade. Now I'm sent to http://java.com/en/download/apple.jsp.

This happens with both Chrome and Safari.

Which page are you trying to use?  2D?  Timing?
Thanks.

In Chrome, when I try Timing +Live Control it takes me straight to http://java.com/en/download/apple.jsp. When I try 2D it gives me a prompt and when I hit cancel, it takes me to http://java.com/en/download/apple.jsp.

In Safari, when I try Timing +Live Control, I get a prompt, and when I hit cancel… it works (intermittently. Sometimes I get Timing only, sometimes I get control & chat. After a while it redirects me to http://java.com/en/download/apple.jsp.) 2D is currently giving me a black screen when I hit cancel. I'll keep you updated.

I can see why it might still have been forwarding you to java.com and I have just corrected this.  Please try again.  Thanks.

Thanks for this Andrew, much appreciated. In Chrome, in 2D, I now get the following error:

Timing +Live Control seems to work.

In Safari, Timing appears to work, but offers no controls/chat. 2D gives me a black screen now. This must be pretty frustrating for you!

It looks like we will have to provide an older version of the code to support you and others in your situation.  I'm really sorry but I won't be able to implement that today.  I'll try to do so tomorrow.

Should also note that Java 7 update 7 on OSX is x64 only, meaning you can't update and use Chrome (as it's a x86 based browser). Had to download Firefox/use safari in order to use Mountain Lion with iGP with Java 7 Update 7.

I have the same problem as Chris. I lost a race tonight because of this.

What version of Safari are you using on Snow Leopard? By default, the non-updated Safari in Snow Leopard isn't 64bit (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2136404?start=0&tstart=0) and Chrome still isn't - even with the latest version. The Java 7 Update 7 is ONLY 64 bit on OSX at the moment (and I don't even know if they have plans for a 32bit version). Make sure you have either a) the latest Safari or b) use Firefox as it is 64bit. Without using a 64 bit browser the java applet will not load using update 7.

If he is still using Snow Leopard I don't believe he can update to Java 7, and I think all the Java 6 updates are handled through apple. Make sure Snow Leopard is fully updated Chris.

I have had a few downloaded copies of Lion off of certain sites that have not given me problems, so you could try that.

Also, while we're on the Mac subject, Safari seems to be having problems loading the 2d; the living time + controls still works, but no 2d. Firefox has been the most reliable if you are trying to run this on a Mac with Java 7.

Safari loads it for me on Java 7 and OS X 10.8 but I can't zoom in!

Firefox loads it too, opera doesn't even start.

No point in replying if they can't say anything that'll help.

The latest java is a complete fuckup on OS X so they'll have their hands full.

It's not just this tread, it's every thread that is on these forums...

Look at the complaints about the 1 year subs... Oh well. My last season before I delete my account anyways...

I have changed the system to support Java 6 and 7.  If you are asked to upgrade Java, you can press cancel and the system should select an appropriate version of the applet for you.  This should help players who cannot upgrade to version 7.

As Max suggests, the fact that there are some issues we have not responded to on the forum is much more to do with our capacity than our concern.  In my own case, technical issues such as the ones mentioned on this thread is an area where I can give much more substantive help.

On the payment issue though, it is very difficult to say much here for a variety of reasons. We expected that some people would not be happy with the change but still expect that overall most people will prefer this arrangement.  Nevertheless I am sorry to all those who are not happy with the change.
