I play this game since May and i never subscribed. Why? The first reason was always the price. Although i think it's not expensive (3€/month, to play a WHOLE YEAR), only if you play once or twice a week may be a bit "pushed".
And i was tempted several times to subscribe even with the current price. The main problem is i dont know how much time i will play this game (not because i dont like it, i'm hooked in it) but because of life, job, wife and so on.
So i think more options to subscribe, like 3 and 6 months would be very welcome to people like me. Probably i would subscribe one of them, and then renew until i cant play the game no more (hope that will be never)... but a 1 year may be too much for me.

About having to be present at same days same times, every week, it's how the game works and i think its fine. If you want to compete in a league against others, it has to be done that way, the fun of it is to try to win points, races, titles, not stand alone races or ocasional races.
For that purpose there's a lot of leagues someone can enter at their own circunstance and please.

Like some of you, I don't think the price for this game is too high.
What I really miss are payment options.
As much as I enjoy this game, it's really tough on the real life to be there every day at every race.
Giving options for people who like to play everyday or every week could be an answer.
Like for example you can choose either £30 for a year or for 26 races, of course there would be a time limit to use your credit.
Let's say someone is in a league and develops a 100% car, if the league is competitive and he wants to win he could buy a 17 races season package at a fixed cost. He'll be able to enjoy the advantages of 2D and have a real shot at winning. Maybe he would find it addictive and choose to spend more.
I also agree with all the above posts regarding payment options for less than a year, like 1 month, 3 months, 6 months package.

The goal of having more options is not to underprice the game. On the contrary, it acts like a bait to the features of 2D. If you are hooked to it you will keep it and pay for it. But at least, the price to pay to try it should not be that high so that people can try it without too much afterthoughts.
I know for some it's expensive in one shot, but if you choose (for example) to smoke one less pack of cigarette per month maybe with the right payment option, iGP becomes suddenly affordable for the same person.

I went a little bit out of subject above, but the point to take away is that more options in this case is way (and always) better than one option (which is more like no option for those who want to pay).

Does anyone else agree that £30 is a bit much for 1 year? I mean considering how much content is in the game compared to say Minecraft (which is half the price, and a one time buy) does £30 not seem a bit unreasonable? Why no make it a £20 one time buy, I garuntee more people would buy it, look at BATracer for example. KoolTools (or whatever it was they used) was a small fee and was a one time buy and had about the same content level.

I know nothing will change in terms of pricing (most likely) But it is just far to expensive considering what you get with your £30. The point is, I can still win races by not paying, so how can I justify paying £30 for a membership?

Thoughts?

Hello all,
I agree. The price is high for what the game offers right now.

I understand loyalty to the developers but defensiveness on either side is worthless. It's a simple matter of judging one's ROI. If the return doesn't match the investment then the business relationship will eventually be terminated.

Value is subjective, but I'm defensive because I think that if the price is lowered, there would be no iGP Manager. Also, I think it's weird one can call iGP Manager 'probably the best manager game out there', but is unwilling to pay for it.

I'm not keen on paying because there is not enough content for the £30. £30 could buy me DLC on a game I like and will have lots more content. I think more payment options are the best route to take. 3 and 6 months would be great.

I wonder sometimes if you would still be playing those types of games after a year for £30.  What I mean is you can spend way more than that on a game for Nintendo, X-box, whatever, but have finished it after about 2 months.  Most Steam games, although a lot cheaper, don't last even that long.  (I am a fan of Portal, Black Mesa, Half Life etc so that was good value!)  But how many games are quite different everytime you play.  Even the ones I have mentioned are a bit samey!

I think the £30 is really good value - I spend that much one night out with friends - and the banter is as good.  If you are in a good league it's a really happy place to be and worthy the money.  I know £30 is a lot for many people but at least this game has the free option - with quite a lot of life there is no free option.

And before anyone points out the obvious - yes I am not a member.  This is out of choice so that I can always understand the non-members point of view.  I help the game financially in other ways.

At the moment, as far as I know, the ability to set up any other type of fee structure is just not possible - other than paying yearly that is. Even if you only play once a week that works out at about 58p per race and if it is every day then that is about 8p per race.

But all these opinions are valid and it is worth knowing that this is still an issue that needs to be resolved somehow.

Yup. To give an example: Ratchet & Clank: Nexus, released about a month ago, is mid-priced PS3 game that costs 36 euro's and offers only 6 hours of gameplay.

Good grief - and I thought 2 months was a cheat!
Not into those games so had no idea really.

I wouldn't say iGP is different everytime. I like it, but some people might just say "All you do is setup a car and watch it race". Again, I like iGP, but my point is - is there enough extra content with the paid version to make it worth while?
