You have to be in the green zone in elite to get 100 additional rep... That means you need to place high in a league with more than 8 teams (for 2-car leagues), which means you can't join at last race and expect to be in the green zone
You're right Jason.
And you would also need to be in a league with other high ranking managers to be able to gain reputation in races. As for myself, finising in front of other +/-9000 rep managers will gain me some reputation. Losing of managers with lower ranking will make me lose reputation.
Looking back at my current season, the reputation gain/loss with 14 races so far is +11, +15, +1, -5, +2, +11, +6, +10, -5, -11, +6, -2, -8. Overall that is a 31 rep gain and you see once other managers start to aproach the 100% design, the reputation tends to go down as the field is getting closer and it gets harder to score good positions with both drivers. Most of the losses come from one of my drivers finishing well and the other further down the top 10 or even just outside.
As for the question if 10000 reputation would be possible, I don't know but 9500 seems more plausible in my opinion. For sure you would need to be in the top 2 standings every season to get the 100 rep bonus and that I managed the last 10 seasons or so. Then you also need other high ranking managers to be able to gain reputation by winning or finishing high.
But with more high ranking managers in a league you will face more competition and with that finishing high every season will get more and more unlikely. On the other hand, if others with a lower ranking beat me, they will gain more reputation compared to my loss. So in theory the whole league should be able to benefit from higher ranked managers as the lower ranked will also gain just by finishing close, not only in front of them.
I did some research last season and it appears that the amount of points of the winning team goes down pretty much every season. The distribution of points extends further down the grid showing the field gets stronger and stronger. So from where I'm standing my chances of getting more and more titles gets lower by the season. Not that I will stop trying though. :D
One last thing, two strong drivers are crucial for a good ranking. And if you want to keep operating in the top, age counts. One of my drivers is just 33 years old but already heading towards an early retirement and he just isn't that consistent anymore. He can win races but also tends to get some lesser scores which just doesn't help in scoring points and reputation.
That seems enough text for now :)
