Just Randomly curious, What are the online numbers like last night? i remember back in the old days when you had the online counter at bottom of page from when i used to play old game in 2012-2014 it was a busy night with 1,200 people online, and during the european daytime was usually about 300-400 people online.


I miss that counter! It was so cool. Back when I joined I think the highest I ever saw was in the 800s.

In the old iGP those numbers were never accurate as we couldn't track in real-time who was still on the site, rather it was taken over a period of "recent activity". Such metrics shown on websites are most often misleading and inaccurate. I'm aware of some games that literally count anyone who logged in within 24hrs as "online", to really inflate their numbers. There are ways to get more accurate figures, and we have those within analytics tools. The available data indicates that iGP is quickly becoming the largest game in the genre in terms of active players.

Now imagine every single one of those people are demanding resources from our servers, which we offer for free. Behind the scenes there's also a juggling act involved with things arriving out of sync. App stores significantly delay payouts to developers for example, 4-6 weeks behind receipt. When there's a sudden surge like we've had, the two things are completely out of sync, you've got surging demand and limited resources to deal with it. Sometimes, we hit a bump in the road, but overall we're pretty much on top of it. When we do hit a bump, we know why and solutions are never far behind. We're trying to prepare them in advance, but got caught out a little this week.
