I know that some from outside do read it. But this adds to my view that it is too long. If it was a quarter of the length it would be read by more. The season ends on Friday & I think I will take a different approach. Get ready to be interviewed Jason.....

& we have a place in Elite.
There are 9 of us on the 1st page HoF, including the highest ranked player in the game. This is the highest rated Elite tier & is arguably the most competitive in the game, with 9 different winners this season already.

May I draw your attention to Reidj Free, who has been in our Elite tier for more than a year now. Considering all those who have been & gone during that time, & the quality of managers in the tier now, this is a remarkable achievement. He has also spent most of this time on the first page HoF & has conducted himself with the utmost integrity & good humour throughout.
Please join with me in congratulating Reidj on this achievement & thanking him for his loyalty.

British Racing League – Elite Tier – Season 22 Review
You will notice a different type of review of this season. I wanted to make it shorter to encourage more people to read it. I hope this means you will.
The general standard in this league is now so high, that even managing to win a race is a considerable achievement, so it was pleasing to see that 9 different drivers from 7 different teams took wins. There were 11 different pole sitters & just 2 drivers scored points in every round. The season was dominated by 1 team, but the battle for 2nd went on into the final race, as did the fight to avoid relegation.
With 4 pole positions, 9 wins & 4 one-two finishes, Jason Lee's Doxjq 1 team took both titles. Taia had 3 wins to Mansell's 6 & Mansell scored at every race, his worst finish being 10th in Belgium. This was the teams 10th drivers title & Mansell's 3rd, it was also their 9th teams championship & they were almost 300 points clear of the 2nd placed team. I spoke to Jason & asked him about his season;
“I knew I had a pretty good car but it was a little unexpected. It was nice to see that Mansell can still carry some decent pace. With some of the newer young talents coming into the league I was expecting him to struggle more. Some of the races were difficult because he was starting well down the grid, but it was a good season & hopefully I can do something similar in the next.”
As you mention, there's a lot of new talent coming into the league, what are your plans for the driver line up?
“I've already made one change, Rosberg came in for the last 2 races replacing Taia, but a permanent position in the team will be dependant on how he does in the first few races. There are some younger drivers I am considering, but for now Rosberg has the drive.”
Jason is still the #1 ranked player in the game & we are fortunate to have him in our league. I asked him to tell us a little more about himself.
“I'm from Red Beach which is just north of Auckland, New Zealand. I work for Mowac which is a garden equipment wholesaler. My gaming time is divided between iGP & Quake live, but most nights you will find me at the gym, where I have recently taken up power lifting. I had a good career in karting winning 4 New Zealand titles in the gearbox class between 2003 & 2007, & I would like to follow my brother into personal training, it looks rewarding both mentally & physically.”
Thank you Jason.
Adam Gosling's That Slow Much Luck Team, (TSMLT) scored at every round & repeated their performance of last season to finish in 2nd place; Weber also took 3rd in the drivers title behind the Doxjq pair. Adam is now ranked #2 in the game, but once again won only 1 race in the season & I asked Adam whether he saw their lack of ability to win, an issue for making a challenge on the title?
“I've never dominated any part of a season yet & that's what seems to win the league more often than not. I keep getting good points, just got to try & get a few more wins.”
“If I am getting podiums with both drivers in the top 5 it might be possible. Meyer came in for the last 2 races replacing Schmidt & he could have won at Brazil, but was 2nd in both races, so it looks promising that I could be in the fight for multiple wins next season.”
Thank you Adam.
The race for 2nd place in the league & those 100 ranking points was an intriguing battle from the start. In his 1st season in the league, Jeff Wolff's Young Chrome team (YC) led the way early on after taking victory in Malaysia. With 2 more wins in Turkey & Hungary it looked as though 2nd was a formality, but they went on to score just 48 points from the last 6 races & had to settle for 3rd. I spoke to Jeff about his season;
“Yes I am very happy with the result. This league is by far the most competitive I have been in & ending 3rd was beyond my expectation.
Thank you Jeff.
The final points standings:
Drivers: Mansell (Doxjq1) 299, Taia (Doxjq1) 239, Weber (TSMLT) 161, Manuel (YC) 97, Qadiri (YC) 87.
Teams: Doxjq1 544, TSMLT 245, YC 184, EJ Technical Motorsport 145, Nudist Wispa Gold Racers 133, Fillers Scuderia 127, Follow Me On Twitter 110.
I have been wrongly predicting for some time that a team scoring points would be relegated. Sadly on this occasion I was right & the unfortunate one was Anthony Davies. His ANT team lost out by just a point to SRT managed by Fernando Nunez. Ahead of them, Allar Foht's Team Red stayed in Elite after a season in Pro & in what was a disappointing season Richard Johnstone's RJR team managed just 8 points. If you want more proof of the level of competition in this tier, Richard is a 2 time champion from just a few seasons ago.
In the mid pack, Chris Louth appeared to be working hard on next seasons car, as did Lewis Goodway; both of them former champions in this league. Reidj Free was searching for consistency, as was I, Neil Robinson, Elcio P & Clifton Cairo. Clifton's Sonic Boom GTI team joined part way through the season & struggled, sitting in the relegation zone for a while, but in the last 3 races they found their form & looked to build on that for next season.
My award for most improved goes to Bruno Sousa Ferreira's Ferreira Racing team. They amassed 74 points including 2 pole positions & their 1st victory in this tier at Germany. Well done Bruno. We welcome David Lyons & Fargo Farinas back into Elite after both spending just 1 season in Pro.
& so to my (usually wrong) predictions.....
Chris Louth & Lewis Goodway are going to be strong, as will Jason Lee of course. I see these three being difficult to beat. Adam will be consistent but the question is can he make that step up to challenge for the title & will someone else find enough form to challenge at the top. There are 13 proven winners in the league now & nothing to say that the other 3 can't win too; putting a championship together is only getting harder.
For me the ability to qualify well is the key now. Only once did the winner come from outside the top 5 on the grid & with so many good managers opportunities to capitalise on qualifying are going to be few & will need to be grasped with both hands. This means that you are going to need a good car, good strategy & not just good drivers, but ones that can qualify well too.
All I can be sure of, is that as always, there will be some great racing.
Edwin Smith.

Edwin, how about doing some reviews for BRL 2 as well ? :)
Kevin Dashire medal 5000 11 years 254 days ago
Hello Mr. Smith...
I'm somewhat new to iGP... I've been honing my skills in a private league but since I got bored with racing only against my friends, I want to join your league to fully experience what iGP has to offer to a racing manager in the making...
To put it bluntly, could you place me in the waiting list for the rookie class for next season...
Andrew Hurn medal 5000 11 years 254 days ago
Kevin, you are 2nd on the list for Rookie

Kevin, do you want them to sweep the floor with you ? :)
What do you exactly mean about that...?
Sorry but I'm not familiar with that phrase...
Alin Costrasuc medal 5000 11 years 249 days ago
I mean they are so strong and fast, they will go into the distance.
Or, to put it in another phrase, they will beat the crap out of you. :)

Honestly speaking, who knows... You might be surprised at the results...
Or not...
