British Racing League – Elite Tier – Season 25 Review
This season produced 9 different pole sitters & 9 different winners. Only twice did the winner come from outside the top 4 qualifiers & 8 times the winner came from pole. The drivers championship wasn't decided until the penultimate round & the teams went all the way to Abu Dhabi. With so many competing at such a high level the times of dominance by 1 or a few teams have gone from this league & this is reflected in the quantity of points scored by the championship winners. The drivers title was taken with the equal lowest number of points & the teams just 40 points above the lowest score.
Nudist Wispa Gold Racers, (NWGR) started the season impressively locking out the front row & Pedersen duly took the victory from pole by just 0.18 from Kiss for Allar Foht's Team Red. Malaysia saw a quite extraordinary victory for Rob Walker Racing. Maia started from 21st on the grid, on the harder tyre & somehow turned a long opening stint into a win. Sadly Rob only completed the first 7 races. Kiss took the victory in China from 2nd on the grid & Dias for EJ Technical Motorsport (EJTM) won in Bahrain from pole, in a race that saw the only rain of the season. Dias won again in Spain from 3rd & at this early point in the season it looked as though EJTM & TR were going to contest the title.
A third team immediately emerged from the pack however, as Jeff Wolff's Young Chrome (YC) driver Wood took victory from pole at Monaco & Turkey. These wins catapulted YC into the title race, demoting TR to 3rd. Reidj Free's Fillers Scuderia (FS) were the next team to prove they could win, as Zhu came from 4th on the grid to win, in the dry, in Great Britain. This made it 6 different winners from the opening 8 races, but EJTM still held the lead with 158 points, YC had 141 & TR 131.
Wood was at it again in Germany; pole & the win by 10 seconds, the widest margin of victory all season & YC quickly swept past EJTM in the championship as Wood won again from 4th at the next in Hungary. Zhu took his 2nd win of the season for FS from 2nd on the grid at the European round in Spain & FS suddenly looked as though they might be in the running too. Kiss won again in Belgium from pole & Wood won again in Italy from 2nd on the grid. YC now had a 32 point lead with TR 37 points behind EJTM. Did Jeff have one hand on the trophy?
EJTM had other ideas though as they locked out the front row in Singapore & took a relatively simple 1,2 (their first since season 12). This closed the gap to 8 points & with three rounds still to go the championship was alive again. TR failed to score in Singapore, the only time all season, but were now some 80 points behind EJTM & would have to settle for 3rd place.
That Slow Much Luck Team (TSMLT) took the victory in Japan, just holding off De Sousa (YC). This was their only win of the season & it was the 7th different winner. YC managed 2nd & 8th, while EJTM were 3rd & 5th; & the gap was extended by a single point. At Brazil, Wood took his 5th pole of the season & turned this into a 2nd place finish, behind Muller for Sonic Boom GTI (the 8th different winner). De Sousa followed his team-mate home in 3rd, but EJTM managed just 8 points & whilst they could still win the title, they would need another 1,2 & some luck....
Which they did not get & Jeffrey Wolff clinched the championship with yet another pole to flag victory this time for De Sousa (9th different winner) in Abu Dhabi. This was Young Chrome's 5th Teams title & Wood had taken the Drivers Championship back at Brazil too, his 1st, the teams 6th.
I spoke to Jeff about his season;
“Yes it was a great performance from my 2 drivers. We had a slow start in the beginning of the season due to a lack of car development, but by Monaco and Turkey we were on the pace & took our first and second win of the season. From there on with great competition and a bit of luck it was a tough battle till the end but a great season.”
Thank you Jeff.
I spoke to myself about my season. It had been a while since I had been competitive & I asked myself about what changes I had made?
“I thought I had developed a winning formula, but it was flawed & it took me a while to work out what I was doing wrong. I have won a few races here & there, but this was my first real effort at a championship for some time. Jeff was much too fast in the latter part of the season for me, but I am delighted to be 2nd. It's really nice to be competing again & I reckon my drivers have more to give.”
Thank you me.
Allar Foht was a splendid 3rd & I asked him about his season.
“It was very good, I even managed to get 3 wins, my first in this tier. Would have wanted to take a couple more, but the competition is tough & the races are very close.”
Thank you Allar.
The final classification:
Drivers: Wood (YC) 217, Dias (EJTM) 180, Kiss (TR) 174, Weber (TSMLT) 151, De Sousa (YC) 151, Thompson (EJTM) 145, Zhu (FS) 107.
Teams: Young Chrome 368, EJ Technical Motorsport 325, Team Red 232, That Slow Much Luck Team 222, Fillers Scuderia 154, King Power 136, Nudist Wispa Gold Racers 125.
My award for most improved, (I say award, but it is an award in name only), goes to Allar Foht. He had some wins & he challenged for the titles. He has been gradually improving & I expect to see more from Allar in the coming seasons.
So what of season 26.....
It gets more & more difficult to predict & I am usually wrong. For me though there are at least 6 teams who could be at the sharp end, but I think Adam Gosling & Chris Louth will be leading the charge.
All I can be sure of, as usual, is that there will be some great racing.

Really funny review Edwin. Makes the game so much more fun if it can be taken a little less seriously at times.
