It worked pretty well as far as I could see , I'd still like to have a few races on a few different circuits before a definitive yes or no.

We were aiming for half a second gets passed. So if you are within half a second, at the start of the zone you should get by every time.
If you are slightly more than half a second behind, you might need some KERS too.
I have been watching a lot of races so far today & it seems to be doing exactly what we were aiming for.
We would still love some more feedback though.

I think it's perfect now ^^

Worked well on our race yesterday, seemed a lot more like the real thing

I don't know if I got more use to it as the race went on but with our 1st race since the update. Brazil seemed a little bit to much tonight...
If a car was close to the one infront, They seemed to be 3 or 4 car lengths infront by the end of it and over 1.5 seconds infront by sector 1...
It wasn't O.T.T.. Just a little bit to much.. Reducing the DRS line may be the better idea for that track. IDK. It may just be me.. The others in the 2D agreed.

if they're 1.5 second in front by sector 1 they're clearly much faster and they should be more in front at the end of drs.

^ True way of putting it. If they are that much faster they deserve to be in front. That was the problem before, DRS wasn't effective at all so the slower cars just stayed in front of the faster ones.

After completing a race in Monaco I am no longer sceptical about this, it was a change to the better.

Not a big fan of the super-DRS so far i'm afraid. The last two races - Malaysia and China, it seemed OTT. Malaysia especially, there seemed little point in trying to overtake with KERS outside of the DRS zone as you would instantly be re-overtaken at the end of the lap. A KERS assisted DRS overtake would see cars take almost 1.5 seconds out of a car down the start/finish straight. This may vary with each circuit but on the evidence so far it seems overpowered.
I guess prefer the older version where you could just about resist the DRS with KERS (similar top speed) to make it more tactical - now it seems too easy to pass, even if you are just into the DRS zone. The older system seemed to give more tactical racing - i remember a race where i just held on to win in Turkey using just enough KERS each lap to hold off the car behind which was getting to <0.2s at the end of the DRS zone. This kind of race won't happen anymore...

It will just as well, I haven't played china yet but on other tracks if the car is about 0.5 behind you he won't pass
Jaap Grolleman medal 5000 11 years 26 days ago
Maybe just decrease the DRS zone's in lenght, where it's too effective, such as Malysia and China?

Not a silly idea ;)
Monza is way too long. In a testing league of mine cars who were 0.8 behind could pass with DRS even without changing the push level. Both cars 2/5 push, same tyres, same fuel.

The DRS is ridiculous at Spa..

This is intriguing.
We did all we could last week to collect opinion & feedback but there wasn't much. I recognise that we have seen it working at every track & managers have not, but we felt it was doing what was needed.
We had taken onboard a lot of feedback about races being boring & predictable & designed a change which delivered this & was more representative of Formula 1. By this I mean that if you enter the DRS zone within half a seoncd of the car in front you should pass.
At the higher speed tracks, like Monza & Spa, you should breeze by as happens in real F1. There is an issue with Monaco, where you can now pass in DRS zone, which we know does not happen in F1, but.....there were a lot of people who felt Monaco was boring & was decided by qualifying. You can now pass, & it would seem that this is making the races there more interesting.
We signed this change of as complete on Monday. This doesn't mean we are not open to opinion or indeed to consider changing it again, but I think it needs to time mature a little before we consider that.
