Let us try this again. Please vote without bias.

I voted YES, because I want the old dirty air back for NOW. Just for the period the new one is being coded.

There has been a lot of talk recently and I mean A LOT regarding the state of racing since tyres wear was updated, some tracks rescaled and the removal of dirty.

First I’ll like to commend the devs for always pushing the boundaries of the game and trying to make it the best it can be, they do not always get it right but are never too proud to make it right.

In the aim to create closer racing and eliminate some long standing bugs, dirty air was turned off while a new one is being coded. This has ultimately created new sets of problems that overshadow and make the previous ones look like nothing.

My suggestion or ask is why not turn back on the old dirty air pending the release of the properly coded one?

I believe the majority of the community will take that as the best compromise (especially as there is no time frame for the release of the newly updated dirty air), even if it brings back the old bugs at least there will be some interesting races to look forward to than the perpetual trains we are in now.

Please note I had an earlier version of this post removed as I felt the votes were not organic. I respect everyone’s opinion so if you truly feel a certain way ABOUT THE GAME then vote that way, not because you like or may not like the OP.

Thanks for reading and hopefully taking action.

Totally agree with bring back dirty air now. More overtaking might sonud good on paper, but rn it's just a drs train fest with car overtaking back and forth until last lap...Imo overtaking should be something significant in the race, right now track position really doesn't mean anything which takes away a big part of race strategy.

I fully agree with you. I've been playing this game a lot, but i never experienced such a lack of interest in racing. It's just not quite interesting now.

I agree, I am myself a developer too and I know what kind of efforts they make in the programming, but there must be a posisbility to return to a less bad racing experience, while they're programming the new logic in this game...

I think the dirty air is fine as it is. For anyone that doesn't remember it was impossible to overtake on any track which made DRS and boost even more important than what they are now, there's a reason to why many people quit at that time

There is also a reason many ppl are quitting now or moving to offline racing

There is actually 'no' dirty air now.

Tbh, I don’t know if it is Dirty Air or the unreasonable tyre performance. If old tyres (even with low fuel) would not be able to stay in trains without using boost, it would also be fine for the moment.

While I see you points, one major problem I see with this is the return of the pit stop bug.

If this is fixed, bringing back dirty air as is would be okayish for me.
But if bringing back dirty air as is implies bringing back the pit stop bug, I will gladly take the game as it is now.

Additionally, I wholeheartedly agree with JNS (there is a first time for everything I guess...) in that a stronger fall off for old tires might be a nice workaround atm.

I don't think changing the tyre characteristics will resolve the current gameplay problems. Initially maybe it would help but as soon as managers realised that by running the tyres too long they would drop out of the train and lose DRS they will just pit a lap or two earlier. All managers will do the same so the train is unaffected.

From experience in my 50% league the train / boost-fest game started soon after the December update. Sure, before this there were certain circuits where trains were the norm (Italy and Austria spring to mind) but now every circuit has identical gameplay... even Monaco!

For highly competitive active leagues with experienced managers it hasn't really changed much in terms of the managers who win, the strongest managers from before the update remain the strongest managers after the update. For me it is just sad to see the game I've enjoyed for seven years turn into half an hour of watching a train of dots then an intense 30 seconds of mashing the boost buttons.

Personally I'd be happy to see old dirty air return until the improved version is ready, even if this results in reintroducing some of those annoying bugs like pit lane overtakes. The reason I say this is because past experience of developer timescales suggests that new dirty air coding is not likely to happen any time soon.

However, I appreciate that others will have different opinions which is why debates on this forum are so interesting.

I see both your points (you & The Gentle man) but I agree with Kevin, managers will simply adapt.

At the moment, there is no perfect compromise but at least with dirty air (bugs & all) we can have some exciting races again even though some curses and phones may go flying because of the bugs πŸ˜‚.

I also made the suggestion using release trends, personally I don't see the dirty air 2.0 being released anytime soon and I'm an optimist.

Totally agree Archie. The current balance update was designed with dirty air in mind, so having it rolled out with no dirty air implemented makes it look like the update did not work correctly. I would prefer to race with old dirty air and pit bug, allowing more diverse strategies, actual race management, and non-train racing, than the opposite. This is obviously just suggesting to re-enable dirty air until the new system is completed.

Could we not only get it back for dry races? Cause dirty air was very bad at wet races.
If that were possible, I’d like to have old dirty air back until new dirty air is ready pls.

From my understanding dirty air was a bug? Even they wanted to put it back I don’t think they can

No it wasn’t a bug just not working as intended and causing issues in other parts of game.  It will come back when fixed, but is unlikely to happen any time soon

What about a reduced strength version of the old dirty air temporarily? I think that's within the realm of possibility. We could re-introduce it but make it less powerful (until the new one is coded).

Nice compromise @Jack

Let’s give it a try and if it is not useful you can delete it again.

If as a conseguence we will have back a better push level management (because now push level management skill is almost useless) it's ok.

Otherwise you can roll back the old game and we could have the old game with less dirty air (the best thing if it doesn't cost you much time or problem that we don't know )
