We've been making changes to the ad formats in iGP Manager and creating more opportunities for rewards via ads around the game. If you have come to expect a consistent number of ads for parts, that is no longer the only ads placement, and the number of parts from that placement has been reduced to open up other rewarded ad opportunities.

Despite our efforts to ignore the reality and provide monolithic ad placements, after years of experience and education from working with various ads partners, we've come to learn that ads are opportunities and should be served up as such, and we must avoid setting the expectation that everyone will always get X per day, for various reasons:

  • Firstly, not everyone can receive the same number of ads. Even the same person will have a different number of ads available to them from day to day, and even hour to hour. This resulted in players feeling short-changed if they couldn't receive the same number of ads as someone else. This is 100% outside of our control and depends on advertisers, the demographics they want to target and when they want to show ads. It was almost never a bug when an ad could not be shown, yet was consistently perceived as such due to how it was implemented (setting the expectation that X ads per day would be available). It was our own lack of experience with video ads that led to us implementing it in that way initially.

  • Secondly, gameplay is negatively impacted by singular repetitive ad placements. If managers depend on repetitively watching a series of adverts as a substitute for actually managing the team, that's no good! We want the gameplay to be filled with challenges and decisions. It is a manager game, after all.

Existing ad placements have been modified, and new ad placements have been introduced:

  • The old parts ad placement now can be viewed a maximum of 3 times, to avoid advantaging or disadvantaging any managers like before

  • There is a new placement in the investment dialog that allows managers to get free cash for their team, this will also act to provide extra cash for HQ upgrades (e.g. manufacturing) offsetting a reduction in free parts

  • There is a new placement on the training page that allows managers to perform healing on their drivers. This should enable extra training at no extra cost.

Only complaint is that this is still only available for the app users.  Will PC ever get it?

Unfortunately, there are no such "rewarded video ad" services for the web. I've asked about this several times with our partners and there is no solution like there is for apps. Much as we can't control the number of ads available to someone, we can't do much about that.

The issue is still at large though that the add function fails to work.  It’s not that it’s not giving a consistent amount. The function freezes up and does not work unless you kill the app.

This means I spend more time closing it than playing it.

Also now parts are more of an issue as my parts area is not developed yet to provide enough parts for racing.

Don't understand why it can't be done, but I'll accept it.  However, I could not find the new placement on the training page on the training page.  Any recommendations?

Likewise I could not find the placement on trading page I mentioned. To heel drivers. At no xtra cost.

2% health an advert.  Not really any use. And that’s if it works.  Since available I have managed 4% and 224k. The adverts are still screwed.  Every other app has no issues with ads

i totally understand the Change.
Just would be great if you could anounce changes which impact the Management earlier, to prepare for the change. Maybe 2 Weeks ahead.
Since i focus on speed and the ads worked quiet well for me i rely on the free parts, so my production is low level. In case you would have announced it ahead i could have changed my head quater Development.

Can I make a suggestion?
If you don’t have enough parts for a full repair, can we not use the parts we have for a proportionally reduced repair?

Would reduce the disadvantage suffered

First of all, I need to say thank you for this great game. I became an addict instantly. Gameplay and your effort to further develop this game are just amazing. And the way you communicate changes and updates is superb, because it is so transparent.

However, the change in the video ads, which makes totally sense BTW, seems to be a small change, but I think it has a great impact in the gameplay. I don't know, if you inteded this, but it has a great influence on the strategy, since I need spend more Design Points on Realibility in order to reduce the parts wear. Luckily, my production facililty is maxed out, and with the three extra parts I only lose 1-3 parts per race - but it is still a loss.

And here comes my first "criticism" on the update: The development of the production facility is extremly expensive. As I mentioned, my facility is maxed out, but players who are now despereately in need to upgrade this facility, will need to spend a lot money on that. My suggestion therefore would be to make the upgrade of the production facility it a bit cheaper, since it becomes more relevant in the game.

I would like to make one more suggestion on an issue that becomes more relevant through the restriction of video ads: at some point the parts wear during the race gets extremly high. I'm Level 17 and to repair both cars each race costs me about 20-23 parts (there are exceptions e.g. Moncao). My suggestion would be therefore to reduce the parts wear a little bit.

On this matter, I have a question on the parts wear: If I don't repair my car and decide to run 2 races, does it have any influence on the performance during the race? Of course I know, that if I don't repair at all, the car will eventually drop out due to suspension.

I would love to hear your thoughts on that.

Thank you for all.

If the target was to increase revenue, I fully understand the step. In a one race, maximum production is 3-10 parts minus (except Monaco and Hungaroring). However, the shop is disproportionately expensive in the part (10 engines cost as much as 10 parts). If you run out of parts, probably more people will leave the game because you would have to pay a disproportionate amount to continue playing (quality) ...

Those who do not train their pilots (because the max is the pilot) are at the disadvantage of those who train in the number of video ads.
I would recommend 2% instead of 3 or 4 to be rewarded after an ad, and that the number of available ad units is decided by the player to share it between parts and training.

I suggest reconsidering / refining the conception.

First of all, this changes create game for premium players and destroy equal chance to competetion beetween paydrivers and freedrivers. Good luck... I produce 17 parts, 3 get from ads and lost after last race 26 :) Soon i should pay for game or drive ony 1 car league (until you introduce restrictions there for free players).

you are right, in case the ads would work for everyone, but the developer Team is right in case of fairness, since there are players for whom the ads don't work.

One opportunity would be to decrease the number of parts needed in a race, especially for a 2 cars Team.

another One would be to make parts cheaper in the shop, i don't mind to bis a few in case it would  be able with the sponsorship contracts.
at the moment 1 Part costs around 1 token
if for example 5 parts would cost 1 token it would become affordable.

Bastian, certainly reducing the wear of parts would solve the problem.

I wish we had time to prepare for this rather than it being thrown at us out of the blue, I didn't have any time to upgrade manufacturing so my car is really struggling

So the best way for us drivers who have 2 cars and need to replace 20 parts a race is to find a league with 1 driver and 1 car my cap ls level 17  so 17 parts to fix 2 cars? ? The games gone to pay to win what a joke as for adds other games have adds and this works well feels like you have moved them to increase players to spend money on the game  the list of reasons above  is corporate bullsh**t I for one won't be spending anymore money on this game

I've been snowed under behind the scenes for a couple of days and didn't get a chance to update this thread until now. I'd like to start by rephrasing what I said in another thread, which I had meant to put here as well:

We may adjust the new placements like healing if it seems right, but we always prefer to start conservatively then crank it up if people find it useful. As some have highlighted it has to be balanced within the game economy overall. The worst way to do that would be starting with a massively overpowered placement, which Parts ads were - let's face it, nobody was bothering to develop the HQ. It completely removed that aspect of gameplay. This is also why it's a bad comparison for the value of any subsequent placements, unless we just want ads to replace gameplay everywhere they are implemented?

One reason we moved some of the ads to reward cash is precisely because it is useful for building the HQ up. We expected some teething pains for anyone who was completely dependent on ads for the functioning of their team, but is that really what we want? Hopefully we can all agree that it is detrimental to gameplay to have such overpowered ad placements.

In addition to these objective factors, there are even greater subjective reasons for these changes. There is clearly far too much expectation of entitlement to ads, and some people actually feel owed a debt of them, arriving at the forum or support like a debt collector demanding their ads, sometimes very rudely. Some have even attempted to blackmail us in to giving them free stuff, e.g. "I'll make my rating 5-stars if you give me my free parts, until then it's 1-star". Far from encouraging us to increase the number of ads available to these users, it convinced us that we had set the wrong expectations and it was time for change.

Even the replies here reassure us that we need to adjust ad placements to reflect what they really are - opportunities from advertisers. Before an advert can be shown to anyone, there has to be an ad network with an advertiser that wants to show that particular user an advert. Again, that has nothing to do with us, but the various ad platforms and the advertisers purchasing ads from them and who they are targeting.

Once the dust settles on the changes, in the long run I am confident that it will improve gameplay.

Antony

We've been working to figure out where and why this might happen. I'm pleased to say we've identified several issues that have been addressed for the next release. It will be packaged with the next update which should be available within a week.

Boris

I can only apologise if it caused you and others as much inconvenience as it sounds like it has. Ultimately, there is no easy way to make a change to something like this, and for many users the situation was far worse before than it is now. The famous phrase "you can't please everyone all of the time" springs to mind. Though I realise that is not a satifactory explanation, it's probably the closest thing to the reality. We couldn't really avoid not keeping everyone happy whichever way we approached it. The course we've taken now will work out for the best in the long run and keep as many people happy as possible, once it has settled in.

Yet again more corporate bull has your rent gone up in the office in London ? Is this why?? The fact we now have 9 adds on training money and parts that's very convenient and funny enough they all work 🤔 all smells very fishy to me
