Hi Daniel, a moderator must have deleted your post (for obvious reasons). I went to the effort to dig it out of the archive so I could respond. Obviously, you're frustrated by the change but haven't grasped how this works.

Yes, 9 ads in a row at any time of day may well be available to you, due to your demographic (young male, UK). You are in an ad-saturated market and demographic, with lots of advertisers vying for your attention. It's not the same for someone in a town in South America, for example, where a significant portion of managers are based. Many of them could only see 1-3 ads before they had exhausted the supply. Some people further afield had none. All these people felt you were being given an unfair advantage over them by getting anywhere from 3 to 9 times as much free stuff as them every day.

It was never the intention to advantage or disadvantage anyone in the game fundamentally from ads. Any ads placement should compliment the gameplay, not replace it. It may well feel like the tables have turned for now, and that you have been disadvantaged (temporarily) but once the manufacturing HQ is upgraded to a sensible level, the imbalance this ad placement caused will be a relic of history. None of the thousands of new players joining every day will even know this was ever an issue now - because they have a better balanced game. For existing players like yourself there is a new placement for cash to pay for the HQ upgrades you need, having avoided upgrading it until now.

I was watching plenty of ads daily to be able to repair my car but now I've upgraded my manufacturing I, like many thousands of other people have no need to watch anymore,so reach manufacturing level seven and no ads will be watched again.. not great advertising

That's the aim, reducing reliance on the parts placement to the point that it's no longer critical to get an ad to have a functioning team.

We're shifting them to locations throughout the game in return for a wider variety of awards. Next time you need cash, parts or a bit of extra healing on drivers, the option is there. If none of that is of use then we can look into what would be based on your feedback (except returning parts to how they operated before). After all, this recent change was made in response to feedback from managers that weren't happy others got more free parts than them, that and it made a HQ obsolete.

Have got accept things change. For the better who knows. Try and see. I have no ads- not had for awhile now. Money insensitive hmmm costs but not much is free. The health thing ?2 % not really makes a diff. Watch and see. Not many gets it right first time. Fingers crossed see what next update brings. Hope hope no BUGS. ?

I was considering doing that actually. However we've been advised that it will also make far more sense to stop offering X ads "in a row" if we want to increase the number of ads available, perhaps even placing an hourly cap.


That is because there isn't just a "per-person" cap as I've alluded to in previous posts, but advertisers obviously can't target individual people, they target countries or cities primarily. That means ads in a particular country or city can 'dry up' if too many users go after them at once. If we set something like an hourly cap apparently this would help to alleviate those cases as well. However, it would mean less ads available at once / in a row. Another scenario where we probably can't keep everyone happy!

I have try to watch ads 5 times today, from 10 hours ago to now and I cant get free parts cause there is no ads to me.

No, if you are meaning the amount a car's parts degrade, it was not changed. What makes you think this? I'm curious to know.

I've been snowed under behind the scenes for a couple of days and didn't get a chance to update this thread until now. I'd like to start by rephrasing what I said in another thread, which I had meant to put here as well:

We may adjust the new placements like healing if it seems right, but we always prefer to start conservatively then crank it up if people find it useful. As some have highlighted it has to be balanced within the game economy overall. The worst way to do that would be starting with a massively overpowered placement, which Parts ads were - let's face it, nobody was bothering to develop the HQ. It completely removed that aspect of gameplay. This is also why it's a bad comparison for the value of any subsequent placements, unless we just want ads to replace gameplay everywhere they are implemented?

One reason we moved some of the ads to reward cash is precisely because it is useful for building the HQ up. We expected some teething pains for anyone who was completely dependent on ads for the functioning of their team, but is that really what we want? Hopefully we can all agree that it is detrimental to gameplay to have such overpowered ad placements.

In addition to these objective factors, there are even greater subjective reasons for these changes. There is clearly far too much expectation of entitlement to ads, and some people actually feel owed a debt of them, arriving at the forum or support like a debt collector demanding their ads, sometimes very rudely. Some have even attempted to blackmail us in to giving them free stuff, e.g. "I'll make my rating 5-stars if you give me my free parts, until then it's 1-star". Far from encouraging us to increase the number of ads available to these users, it convinced us that we had set the wrong expectations and it was time for change.

Even the replies here reassure us that we need to adjust ad placements to reflect what they really are - opportunities from advertisers. Before an advert can be shown to anyone, there has to be an ad network with an advertiser that wants to show that particular user an advert. Again, that has nothing to do with us, but the various ad platforms and the advertisers purchasing ads from them and who they are targeting.

Once the dust settles on the changes, in the long run I am confident that it will improve gameplay.

The issue is still at large though that the add function fails to work.  It’s not that it’s not giving a consistent amount. The function freezes up and does not work unless you kill the app.

We've been working to figure out where and why this might happen. I'm pleased to say we've identified several issues that have been addressed for the next release. It will be packaged with the next update which should be available within a week.

I wish we had time to prepare for this rather than it being thrown at us out of the blue, I didn't have any time to upgrade manufacturing so my car is really struggling

I can only apologise if it caused you and others as much inconvenience as it sounds like it has. Ultimately, there is no easy way to make a change to something like this, and for many users the situation was far worse before than it is now. The famous phrase "you can't please everyone all of the time" springs to mind. Though I realise that is not a satifactory explanation, it's probably the closest thing to the reality. We couldn't really avoid not keeping everyone happy whichever way we approached it. The course we've taken now will work out for the best in the long run and keep as many people happy as possible, once it has settled in.



Thanks for the reply.  I get the change in direction and while it might be inconvenient that’s your choice to make.  But if the features you do provide are bugged I feel I should let you know so they can be fixed.  


Personally I would prefer less rewards but a way to build up a little more tokens than the 2-3 we can get per race.  

Maybe a single free giveaway a day of 1-2 tokens or tokens for milestones (like attending a race not just being in it) or exact time you level up a driver training. That way it’s only by actively playing not out of just logging on.  

This would allow slightly faster building of parts particularly as it’s only 2 days.  

Biggest slog and disadvantage is the time to build.  As so many are 5 days tokens are what need to be used to accelerate at a reasonable pace.  Unfortunately they are not cheap to buy. 

Personally buying stuff for a game should roughly reflect what a game is worth if it was sold.  

Just my thoughts constructively.

Sorry guys, this most recent report is a genuine error, we're working on it now.

The issue is some new code appears to not be backwards-compatible. In the beta version of the apps (which the whole team and all testers use) the error is not present, so it was not detected. It is only affecting the live version. The situation will be very temporary and should be resolved within hours.

Tried again today, watched 2 ads and nothing happen to my finances, I know it's just 120K but at the end of the day it helps pay driver wages. ?

Hi Ben, previously, cash investments from ads weren't being logged in Finances. They've been getting logged as of late yesterday I believe, if you check your Finances today you will see you have received one so far. Are you sure you watched a second ad today?

Would be nice if you could use your investment money to purchase parts besides only tokens. It takes time or tokens to upgrade the HQ but you will burn thru your parts.

Yes  I did watch two earlier today. 
I've just looked up the finance history. There's indeed 1 investment of 120k. I will wait for the other 4.

I found some more problems with ads this evening, and just applied some more fixes to the live version, e.g. it was showing play and loading simultaneously (but the button still worked). This should be corrected now. As it stands, on all my devices the legacy (live) code and the beta are both working perfectly, so fingers crossed that's the last of the ads issues.

The number of parts available through ads has also been increased to 5, which hopefully pleases some of those who wanted more parts. These things will be subject to change going forward but we're trying to get the right balance here with all of these placements.
