Upcoming testing phases
Alpha testing of the new iGP is set to begin in around two weeks. Before the update can be launched on igpmanager.com three phases of testing will be conducted.

Alpha testing -  the developers will initially play the game alone and resolve any bugs or issues they detect. This phase should last for around two weeks.

Closed beta testing - a few select individuals will be invited by the developers to join us in testing the new iGP. This phase should also last for around two weeks.

Open beta testing - An open beta will then be conducted which anyone will be able to join, before the eventual launch of the update on igpmanager.com.
In total, we anticipate around 6 weeks of testing, leaving us with a target launch date of late January 2016, or February if there are any further delays.

Apply for closed beta testing
We're currently looking for testers for the second phase of testing (closed Beta). Here is how to apply for an invitation.

Personal requirements:

You must be a respected member of the iGP Manager community. If you have successfully hosted active leagues, for example, this will be counted in your favour.

You must have completed at least two full seasons of racing on iGP Manager (34 races).

You must be available to play the game every single day during testing. The more time that you have available the better.
How to apply:
Answer these questions in an email to support@igpgames.com. Title your email 'Beta invite'.

What experience, if any, do you have which will be applicable to testing iGP Manager?

How much time will you have available for testing?

Do you have a blog, YouTube channel or other media outlet which you will publish your experience of the iGP Manager beta to? (we encourage this, and would like those invited to broadcast their experience)

What is your primary iGP Manager profile? (provide a link to your manager profile)
Hi Jack,

Not sure I meet even have the criteria, but what time of day do you hope to run the races?

That's a good question.

We will let the testers vote on which times suit them best, and I imagine that will likely be in the evening, between 5-10pm GMT.

If you miss a race one time it won't be the end of the world, the important thing is that you login every day. :) But obviously, if you can attend all the live races that is what we are ideally seeking.

Thinking about applying for the closed beta test but I have one last item I can't figure out.

If I would take part in the beta test, would that affect my team in it's current season? Does it have to be moved out of a league for example or is the beta completely separate from the current iGP which does not affect a team and season at all?

Thats actually a very good question, cause if thats the case I will get relegated as its stands atm back to Pro ;(

I was under the impression that we will lose drivers, staff, sponsor & supplier contracts. All you carry forward is your design tokens, level & record of championships. Bank balance & reputation is reset to default.

Can't recall reading such things but that's why I would like to know as I don't want to loose anything.

For the live cut over I think its something like what James said.

I would be certain that for the testing you will be directed to an entirely different game where you will start from scratch with accelerated development of something to test progressions. But i would be 100% that for testing its a seperate team.

The beta is a completely separate account on a different domain. It is hidden fom the public and you are not permitted to share the URL with anybody during the closed beta. Anything done during the beta test is conducted on a separate site for testing purposes only and has no influence on the live site or your account(s) there. The beta data may be discarded at any moment for the purposes of testing. The two sites serve two totally different purposes and are not linked in any way.

As far as the live site on igpmanager.com goes, when the update is launched there everything on igpmanager.com will be transferred across. You will keep drivers, staff, suppliers, sponsors and design progress. But it will all be scaled relatively to the new system. There will also be some setup and configuration required by the manager to complete the transfer.

If you transfer data, glitches and problems that are here could be carried forward to the new site?
Mental training problem - zero mentally trained drivers are faster than full mentally trained drivers.
Live weather sync - tiers in the league have different weather even though they all race at same time.

I am open for correction here but...

Typically the "glitches and problems" eg, mental drivers are not as quick etc. will not be in the raw data, but the coding behind it and how it uses the raw data. So bringing that raw data across wont bring these issues with them

It may however raise the question of, if they have changed the code around how the driver attributes are applied will our quick drivers now become slow because they are not skilled enough in technical or mental area's?! The magic rectangle may be redundant and those people who have maxed out their driver in all area's may become faster.

But then, thats what testing is for :)

Ive applied and wondering when we might be able to expect getting a reply on if we will be in it.
