While it didn't take me long to figure out the staff and drivers costs quite a bit more compared to what the sponsors generate, I still don't quite understand one thing.

Every race I see the car costs me 800.000. When I refit parts the popup says it costs a certain amount of parts and that's it. Same with the engine so where does the 800.000 cost come from? After refitting parts no money s payed for it, the 800.000 only pops up¨after a race.

Getting back to the sponsor and staff thing, it seems to me it's quite impossible to make any profit as we can't control staff costs. You can´t see what they cost before hiring and only see after they are hired. Most of the time it comes down to roughly 600k per staff and driver which makes about 4m every race and if I'm not mistaken there's no combining of sponsors that can make that kind of income. Certainly not when the car also costs money every race and gaining some tokens.

Engine, Fuel and Tyre suppliers. There are cheaper options, it sounds like you have the most expensive combination.

It's possible to save something like $200k per race by using the cheaper suppliers.

but this 200k still not cover all my costs
i paid 1.6M just for staff and 1,2M for drivers
i get from the sponsors 800k and 1,8M bonuses if i get goal position
that is 2,6M from sponsors and im spend 3.6m every race
if i take chip parts skill i spend 3.4M every race
what i should to to get in plus
fire staff and drivers??????

The only thing saving my bacon each weekend is the prize money of 3.5m a race. my sponsor is on basic income with massive bonus and i am running on expensive bits (on all those cases i didn't know anything about anything when i came back). i can adjust and make some credits a race but without that massive prize money per race i will be seeing red balance figures, no doubt.

It's another thing which is hanging in the balance during the migration, no pun intended. But incomes were very cushy (excessive) in the old iGP and nobody really had to try at all to turn a huge profit. Some teams amassed $1bn, and we never heard threads about it except one or two.

During beta testing, we were online for months and with over 1000 teams, less than 10 teams went in to debt. Half of those that did were silly accounts run by the developers to test auctions, so they spent way too much money. On that basis, the balance seemed quite good, but we haven't calculated how it would impact legacy teams from the old iGP. That's something we are only finding out now, but certainly some people are being surprised that they need to check their finances now, which wasn't the case before.

The main thing im missing with finances is an accurate Finance history. Oh and yes, what are my sponsor goals.

I have no problem paying my drivers a competitive wage and my staff salaries seem reasonable enough but the new IGP is certainly a money losing venture even if I discount the facilities and research I am throwing money at. Fortunately I have a sizable pool of funds to draw from but its not going to last forever.

my finances is fine, only -40k per race running cheap parts and cheap sponsers. In my view we just have to keep a eye on what we spend and what we get

Has the wages changed from the old iGP to this one?
It's very hard to know if you're spending too much when there are no statistics we can look at. Upgrading something in my headquarters may cost a lot, but I wouldn't take it into account when looking at my race-to-race income and expenses. We should have race to race (or even day to day) finance statistics we could look at and learn from.

In beta I was having to cash in quite a few tokens to stay out of debt with both teams, perhaps other players were doing the same so may not have shown up as having problems?

got 3 races left in my league and sponsors as well, when those are gone and i can get better ones, that will cut half the red off the balance sheet, but even so, i am still a million and a half short even with the adjustments. having good drivers on takes a bit of money, but you can't get anywhere with bad drivers in good cars, unless those cars are so well developed. with a level 8 design facility now, i won't be making as much headway as i would like through a season and the creepers pace of the manager xp per race + the time it takes to build up design facilities without tokens. but that will take a lot of money

so in the end, for me i am just managing it but i can't see how i would be making money without some form of intervention like prize money.

Adding up supplier and wages costs, and excluding the development of any headquarter facilities, after my secondary sponsor pays me my per race income, would lose $625k before I am paid any bonuses for meeting race objectives.

I can't comment on how to stay in the green yet until I can return from my hiatus and gain some experience with the new iGP.

We hoped the system would work so that you either choose a sponsor that pays out enough money to cover your costs or enough tokens. Using a sponsor that pays out lots of tokens, rather than lots of cash, it will be very tight. That's intentional.

The fact that so few teams went in to debt during testing suggests it's more than just luck. Remember during testing we didn't give anyone the opportunity to buy Tokens, either. They were operating on just what they got for free. When considering the varying skill levels of players, I would expect a much higher percentage than 1% (10 of 1000) to be in debt if there was a big problem. That said, we haven't really considered what impact the migration would have on teams in this regard, since we were so busy getting the game ready. That's something we will just have to monitor now as with the other balancing stuff.

I wasn't at the beta testing so i have no idea how it all works out, but i am not sure where one can make money outside of prize money, merchandising used to provide an additional means. i may just setup a second team just to find out if it possible to survive with the new system and provide feedback if it is allowed.

I have to say it seems that the costs of running a team have been transferred over as is (even if the staff have been levelled down to a managers level on attribute) but the prizes definitely aren't covering costs. I managed to only lose 1.3mill on a race the other day - woop!

As someone else mentioned, could it clearly say somewhere what the objectives are to secure the objectives money (like the old version did).

Looks like I might have to do that. I still have a good amount of money left, so I'll wait until I have to, though. Maybe there will be some adjustments to the economy.

Wages in the new version (as in beta) are in general lower, but the old staff kept offcourse their contracts ;)

I am paying aprox. 150 k less for driver hired here as lvl 6 then my old ones hired at lvl 5 (or maybe even 4). That does not seem to me as its relating to dropped stats rather that the wage level is in general deeper.

Roughly 1/3 less for drivers at my lvl's

But for staff thats more like half, so I quite early replaced my staff, but kept the drivers for now. I like them, but if they are not willing to drive for less, they got to go in the long run ;)

Edit: The problem is with replacing the drivers, that I would like to train the new ones first as 3rd driver, before firing the old ones. Would be cool, if we were paying less for substitute driver's, like half or so, they do not really work anyway ;)
