I
Jack

During beta testing, we were online for months and with over 1000 teams, less than 10 teams went in to debt. Half of those that did were silly accounts run by the developers to test auctions, so they spent way too much money.

In beta I was having to cash in quite a few tokens to stay out of debt with both teams, perhaps other players were doing the same so may not have shown up as having problems?

There was a thread in the beta forum where many complained of financial problems. I had enough extra tokens from the beginning allotment to get me by but I didn't play a second season. At the current rate a new player will only last two seasons before going broke

I would ran a positive balance if I had not a third driver...

But it will take a lot of time to save the money for facility upgrades.

Wait, what? Do the reserve drivers get paid for each race they DON'T drive as well?

Why shouldn't they ? I signed a contract with them for a salary. It's not there problem that you are not using them. ;)
And how should they pay their rent ?

Well, a reserve driver shouldn't be making as much money as the ones driving...

i can't see you getting out of that unless you got a lot of tokens and a lot of prize money. the sooner prize money is given out to every point scorer instead of the winner, the better off things will get.

Im 28 million in debt with no way of sorting it out. My account is pretty much gonna die. Even with the cheapest drivers and staff id make a loss. Pretty much no point in me playing this game.

If you look at the income you can make not counting prize money is 2m and that 1 driver is costing you 1.7m, now add in prize money lets say another 2m and add in building design 2.5m. Can you see where you are losing money?

You need to add your driver to the shortlist and give him the sack until you get you balance sorted out. Staff/drivers asking for over 1m are not an option, you want the smallest wage bill you can get your hands on to sort out your debt crises.

In the old igp, the marketing director and merchandising were good ideas in theory but completely useless in practice. Maybe something like this again (but is useful) would be a good idea?
In reality across every sport these days merchandising is a huge source of income!

In all fairness, anyone who isnt paying extortionate wages and does a fairly decent job of picking sponsors shouldnt be making huge losses. And if they meet there race objectives should be somewhere around breakeven point.. I have lost about 30mill since the launch of new igp but if I had cut wages and and sorted sponsors sooner it wouldnt be so much.
Also if I had used my tokens from sponsors for cash then i would probably be running at a profit.
In no sport can any team expect to be "spend spend spend" and expect to still make profit.

Im losing 3 million a race. I could trim a million by getting cheap drivers. I dont upgrade anything because i have no money to do so. It seems unfair that people started the game with a billion and others start with 20 mill or in my case 6. So before ive even had chance to start spending or saving money im in debt with no reasonable way out.
Also if the value of money has changed why did old drivers keep the same wages? This cross over is a mess.

Kelly and Walsh two cheap drivers for you to look out for, they be on the market soon. Season ends in 2days time.

The truth is that the only way to break even, for the average mid pack team, is to spend real money. That is, buy tokens. I agree that is the way it should be. This game should not be something Jack and team does without making a profit, which has been the case for quite a while. However a season should not cost more than 1.49 pounds or ten tokens to break even. Right now that can't be done. if there is anyone out there that can show a finance balance in the green after one full season please post it here so that I can be proven wrong.

There are several things wrong with the finance system but my pet peeve is that I don't make objectives often because the objective demands too high a standard. Ie. if you finish third in one race your objective is finish third or above for the next three races even though new players have joined that are much higher level than you are. With my alternate team I made objective only about 50% of the time even though I was doing well enough to be promoted.

Rebalancing finances is something we're going to look in to. It's our intention that people should be able to play for free if they want to. At the same time, we want the game to be challenging, much moreso than the old one which was a walk in the park in this area in particular. If I don't clear those points up, those struggling to balance the finances in-game will think what Leslie said is what we're trying to achieve, it's not. But thanks for understanding that we need support to keep doing this Leslie, that's absolutely true.

The balancing act is again troubled by the migration, because teams on the new game often level up using the same drivers a lot of the time, whose salaries don't increase. Teams from the old game have become accustomed to buying everything all the time and turning a huge profit effortlessly. Finding the middle ground and keeping the two camps balanced is tricky.

The simple solution and the one I am looking at, is increasing the money awarded from sponsors. It seems the mid-level range in particular needs to be looked at, but the game is actually quite balanced at lower levels with finances.

In this alternate account I came in with a legacy team, two drivers @ 200,000 per race, all new staff @ 1 per race. That's 400,003 per race for staff which is as cheap as it gets. My team was level three racing against level 5 to level 8 teams. I leveled up to five fast because of the new rules and spent $10 for tokens (about 80 tokens I think). I still finished, after seven races, 16,000,000 in debt. I did spend on headquarters upgrades and driver training speed ups to see if the new rules allowing faster xp development would work. However I rarely saw a green balance after an individual race.

My point is that the apparent balance at lower levels may only be because of the initial funds given to the team and not because the team is breaking even on the races. And that the new xp rules actually make matters worse if you are trying to take advantage of the extra xp gained.
