Did the same thing in our league in 1st race yesterday, leader 3.7 secs clear by lap 3, managed to close up to 1.9 by the end but ran out of time, in tight competitive leagues ya cant give people headstarts, hopefully the easier overtaking update comes in soon.

It's very annoying. People with cold tires on 1/5 push level holding on a train of cars, with perfect temperature in the tires and 5/5 push is ridiculous. I am against this, my two cents.
Dan Iel medal 5000 12 years 17 days ago
okay so whats the latest news? had qualifying and my cars both are in the middle of the grid even tho they are 100% .... .DEVS i thought you wouldn't go back to the old system .... ?
Andrew Wiseman medal 5000 12 years 17 days ago
Rather than reverting this, I have the task on my list to make overtaking easier. I have bumped that up my priority list now. Sorry about the frustration here.
Shane Hendrixson medal 5000 12 years 10 days ago (edited 12 years 10 days ago)
This is SO frustrating. 11 seconds lost to the front runner in TWO laps because of a 1/5 driver qualifying on the second row. This is a complete joke.
Edit: 15 seconds lost in 4 laps.
Edit2: P1 managed to pit and still come out in front of us.
Austin William medal 5000 12 years 10 days ago
The overtaking does seem to be easier on most tracks.
Shane Hendrixson medal 5000 12 years 10 days ago
It hasn't changed at all.

This is racing!
Don't understand that wailing...
If you use KERS and DRS in a smart way overtaking ist allways possible.
We've lost many members in our league, because 5/5 in qual was not on in former times.
Many people have to work and have other committals and not the time to play games all around the day.
I participate in most races, but I will give people who can not be online the whole day a realistic chance to do well.
So please do not change that again. it's a good thing for equality of chance.
Riccardo Richenzo medal 5000 12 years 9 days ago
How does DRS and KERS help at the beginning of the race?
You don't have KERS at the start, and DRS is practically useless in a line of traffic, and not to mention it isn't available until the 3rd lap.
aCb Chapman medal 5000 12 years 9 days ago
patience!
You just have to adjust your tactics:
save tires, until u can make full use of it - as I said :smart!
Shane Hendrixson medal 5000 12 years 9 days ago
"patience" cost me 24 seconds in 10 laps around Abu Dhabi :P The complete race was a waste of time.
aCb Chapman medal 5000 12 years 9 days ago
what do you think was in kimi's mind after 60 laps behind a slower massa in india?
That's racing!
James Young medal 5000 12 years 9 days ago
Perhaps a simple solution to this would be to start all the cars with just a bit of KERS charge. Have it charge as normal, but give all the cars that are KERS equipped maybe 5-10 seconds of it on the grid. That would ideally be enough to pass a driver on lower push, but not enough to change the race strategy a whole lot.
Atom Taifos medal 5000 12 years 9 days ago
hardly "that's racing" .. this new system is screwing people over everywhere in quite literally nearly every race .. even in our new season last night I started P1 and an afk guy started P2. had a 6 second gap in the first two laps. it's all well and good to say "that's racing" but this is a game, and it's pissing people off, and I personally wouldn't be surprised if some people stopped playing over it.
i dont buy into the whole "it gives the afk people a chance" .. no it doesnt, they are still going to seriously lose against players who are there, all this is doing is slowing other people down in the process and pissing active managers off. so it benefits no one, or if it does, it is worse for more people than it is better for, so i dont see how it makes sense to keep it this way.
aCb Chapman medal 5000 12 years 9 days ago
Don't agree, that it is worse for more people:
We have a manager in our league with the best car, but less time. Even he was away half the races he is first in the championship. That never would have happened with the old system. in the old system he never would have a chance to get points with 1/5 qually level starting from 20th, or with a 5/5 level toasting his tires after 3 laps...
I don't see the fun in driving away from others... that's boring.
to me It's fun to see what's on and change my strategy to do even well with some slower cars in front of me - or some faster cars behind me....
That's not even racing - that's life!
The game is (even with all the bugs) more than just the race.
the 5/5 qually shows the real proportion - the race is different.
why should someone who has developed car and driver to a very good state beeing screwed because he just has not the time to participate in some races?
Even he still is screewed, because the users that are on, still have all the advantage to change strategy, and normally will finish better than s.o. who has one push level all the race...
really don't understand that whining:you still have an advantage over members that are not on.
So my advice: be flexible and get the fun out of clever tactics, and not just of showing muscles.
But if you are still frustrated, maybe you may kick all members out of your league that are not on for 70%. The possibilities are legion...
Atom Taifos medal 5000 12 years 9 days ago
The problem works both ways Chapman. I don't enjoy racing when I start P1 and P2/3/4 are 1/5 drivers holding everyone up gifting me a free win.
I give up trying to explain this argument tbh.. Some people are never going to think it's a good idea and others think it's a great idea..
I personally think it's a terrible idea and it is ruining the game for myself and many others.
I'm sorry but no amount of explanation will convince me otherwise. When you throw road blocks in the middle of the field it is just agonising and I lose interest very quickly. Hopefully the new "passing" system will come soon where push levels make more of a difference

In its current state b4 overtaking is made easier.
Dreadfull for active online for race managers.
Brilliant for managers who are either not able to be online for that race/or are never online for a race.

Exactly my original point and why should we be catering to these types of managers and shafting the managers who actually put in the time to race?
Youen Vyme medal 5000 11 years 282 days ago

I will be increasing the ease of overtakes as clearly it is unrealistically difficult to overtake at the moment. Also I'll make the push level have more of an affect of the aggressiveness of overtaking. So in other words, you shouldn't then be held up by 2/5 push guys unless they are significantly better drivers/cars.
Do you not agree that these are the main issues? Or is the new qualifying setting really a problem even if overtaking was more realistic?
is this ever likely to happen? something needs to be done :)

The overtaking system that was added pre-Andrew Holiday was amazing. I switched 1st and 2nd about 20 times in Monaco.
