Oh dear.....
I wonder whether Niki thinks that was an accurate acount of his '33 days'?
It started off telling the story of 'the accident', interrupted by JYS & DC, & ended with a Mercedes advertisment showing Nico & Lewis lapping the club circuit at Silverstone. It even resorted to speeded up clips with the wrong soundtrack.
Disappointing.
Have you seen it? What did you think?

This is out on Wednesday next week
http://hittingtheapexfilm.com/
It is directed by the same chap who did 'Faster' & Fastest'. It looks great.
It would seem the release is for the UK only & is on a limited basis. My local Vue is showing it just once on Wednesday. The DVD/Blu ray is available from the 7th.
Also, have you scene the the man from uncle film? If so, you might have noticed Goodwood appearing in the motor racing section. Just a couple of weeks until the revival meeting. See you there perhaps...

110% worth the watch. Even if you're not in to bikes.. Watch it for the passion.

I agree. I have seen it now too & it is superb. Highly recommended.
Andrew Frankel is a motor sport journalist & sometime driver & someone who's opinions I respect........However.......

He suggests here that all car films are rubbish. Whilst I shall allow you to make up your own mind........I do not agree; which is good because otherwise it renders all of my recommendations useless.

Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans
This is has a limited release in the UK on 20th November.
From their website:
For most, Steve McQueen will be remembered as an acting legend, starring in classics such as The Thomas Crown Affair and Bullitt. He was considered to be the epitome of masculinity; his status as a male style icon lives on today. However, The King of Cool was also a keen racing driver and in 1971, he released the film Le Mans. Shot using actual footage from the 1970 Le Mans auto race, the picture was plagued with production problems and subsequently bombed at the box office. Today, it has garnered a cult following amongst racing enthusiasts, who believe it perfectly captures the sport in this era. Steve McQueen: The Man and Les Mans documents the on-set issues, which included rivalry, financial and marketing complications, as well as McQueen’s own personal problems. Featuring behind the scenes footage, as well as newly discovered recordings from McQueen’s private home movie collection, this fascinating documentary provides insight into one of Hollywood’s most celebrated and volatile stars. Director Gabriel Clarke is no stranger to the supposedly glamourous world of 1970’s motor racing, having releasedWhen Playboys Ruled the World back in 2010, which featured James Hunt and Barry Sheene. Steve McQueen: The Man and Les Mans is essential viewing for anyone with even a remote interest in film making and racing.
I plan to go, let me know if you do too

Grand Prix is my favourite. The Senna documentairy is a great inspiration, even for my own job in advertising.
The worst is the 2003 attempt on Michel Vaillant. I remember going into that movie with good hopes, only to be annoyed for 100 minutes on its realism. I think the same applies on Driven. The only racing movie I'm alright with lack of realism is Disney's Cars, really.
If we're talking best car chases, I'll say the Blues Brothers movie :P
if you asked me "what got you into motorsport" its
lewis hamilon
f1
coventry transport museam
and disneys cars
cars was a great film. a lot of people known in the motor industry starred in it. schumacher even starred!also the plot was so well done and told me a bit about NASCAR. race scenes were great the plot was great everything was great. i bassicly was obessed with it during 2006-2008. i still what 10 years later have cars merch still in the house and still watch it this very day....

I know it's February but, Happy new year.
I hope Santa was kind to you & brought you some nice motorsport dvds.
This was released just before Christmas:
http://www.no-limits-film.com/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs7Uyk4R0vw (Trailer)
It tells of Alex Zarnadi racing in the Spa 24 Hour in 2015. He returned to motorsport just 2 years after losing his legs at an Indycar race in 2001. As if this is not impressive enough, he won an Olympic gold medal at the paralympics in 2012; a remarkable man.
dan ruglio medal 5000 8 years 309 days ago
PLEASE I RECOMMEND:
"GONCHI" (a film about The Uruguayan driver Gonzalo Rodriguez 1971-1999)
He won at Monaco, Spa and more.
I can say he was our 'Luis Suarez' of the wheel.
He died on a incredible accident at Laguna Seca, and has been important for F1 to start using the hans-device.

Curses............
I had 'Gonchi' ready to post next month Dan. You have beaten me to it. Seriously, please do post your suggestions, they are always welcome.
I haven't seen it yet, but it looks great. Sadly another great talent taken from us too soon.
Wacky Races is one for the teenagers. The Slag brothers were my favourite. They have had some replica cars going up the hill at Goodwood.

Hello there.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077474/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl
This is ' The Driver ' from 1978.
It features a number of car chases, which are always worth a watch. Ryan O'Neil stars alongside Bruce Dern, (one for the teenagers) It's a fairly light heated affair, but well worth it
dan ruglio medal 5000 8 years 262 days ago (edited 8 years 262 days ago)

Andrew Hurn medal 5000 8 years 251 days ago
That is an interesting list Dan.
Not sure that some of them can be classified as motorsport, rather than films with cars in, but you could argue that of many of my recommendations. For example, is Rush a film about 70's Formula 1 or a story of rivalry & heroism that has cars in it? Perhaps we should define them more clearly, 'documentary' or 'drama'? Discuss........
Senna is obviously in the 'documentary' category as such, as are the 4 bike films, Faster, Fastest, Road & Hitting the Apex. It would seem that most of the popular car films are dramas. Curious.
How many of you.............yes you..........have sat through Life in 24 for example? I have done & will again, but then I enjoyed the cut & thrust of the 6 hours at Silverstone on Sunday, (& was glad to find it rather warmer than the snow they had on Saturday).
What do you think? Yes you.....dear reader....
