It's apparent that there are some improvements we can do. We'll be revising some of the impacts this coming Monday 3rd of February.

This time the attributes will stay the same, but the simulation of them will be adjusted slightly. Details will be posted in a blog on Monday.

What would be the perfect combination for racing 50%? I have two teams, one with Murk / Elves / Bridgerock and the other with Tifosi / Elves / Bridgerock

Has anyone have good result with the Tech Director an the estimated fuel usage?   I noticed with the new roll out my numbers from last season are approx 10L off from the last roll out, an this was just myself doing the math this past Saturday in preperation for Mondays GP.

With a GP coming up this evening I will have to watch this extra close to ensure we dont run out again.

I switched my suppliers and everything gone fine.
I want to thank and congratulate staff team for fixing it.

Tire wear and fuel consumption are both markedly higher with Murk/Beep/Bridgerock combination; about 15% higher than with the original (pre-last-week-update) values. I'd wager anyone who is racing to 50% distance will see a marked increase in three-stop and perhaps even four-stop strategies. The tires simply wear too quickly. Had Turkey just now (29 laps) and Hards only gave good lap times for about 8 laps even at 10°C.

Im not one too usually complain, but since the second update to suppliers, its now impossible to remain competitive without being online.
I understand that most people can, but if your like me and looking for a competitive league, usually means you need to race in another timezone removing the ability to be online ot race.

In my current league, I could set cars etc and still maintain a competitive pace without being online, sometimes even winning, sometimes maybe 4th etc but still could be apart of the race. Now since the updates, although having, 100% car, and BY FAR the best 2 drivers in the group struggle to even finish on the same lap when with the same fuel loads etc last season was MINUTES faster(My last valencia race, with a terrible car, was 2minutes faster, than last nights).

Being a paid supporter/subscriber, I don't appreciate my ability to race competitive being completely removed from the game.

My only option now is to race in a mediocre league, IF I can find one that races somewhere in my available racing time.

I'm all for making improvements to the game, and applaud the efforts being made, but to remove access to the game for hundreds of people just from a few 'alterations' I feel is irresponsible and shows a complete disregard for those who may play the game and enjoy it on different levels of commitment.

EDIT - To be far, I realize I am probably not making the most out of the new changes, but from going from a very poorly developed car, to a full car, and a full season worth of training, to lose 2 minutes from doing nothing else is very disappointing. I am far from an expert on the game and its working, but it WAS playable for people in my situation before, whereas now it is not.

We had a race in our 100% league at Spain yesterday and the new stuff was refreshing, forcing people to not do like they have done before. It was a dry race, but I was taken by surprise by the HUGE tyre wear (yes, I know it's heavy wear there but..).

Everyone from P1 to P11 did 6 stints. Doing less was not at all competitive. Winner did six stints on hards only and softs seem to have been made slightly more useless than before. (of course, in Monaco softs should still be the only option).

I would suggest two things: Turn down general wear slightly and make the strategy pre-set box be able to handle up to seven stints.

If gameplay continues as Brendan has commented then I too would be very disappointed.  I think the update to the suppliers may take time for us all to make the best choices eg switching tyres for different tracks.  My enjoyment of the game is in everything else except the actual race - which I am rarely able to attend, and I don't think I am alone in that.  Personally I am really please with the update as I now have to make more decisions and detailed choices but I think a lot of managers aren't quite understanding that.  One of the attractions of this game was that I could dip in and out of it whenever I had a free moment but I cannot attend all the way through a race.  However if attending races is the majority opinion, and the vision of the developers, then I will retire gracefully.  I am not a subscriber, but understand how Brendan and others might feel.

John I don't think we can judge everything on the performance seen in just one race, at a high abrasion track. Much as constant changes might be amusing, it makes more sense to get a month or two's running done before any (more) big changes to performance are made.

@Brendan, your strategy, if based on the "old" numbers for tyre wear and fuel use would have been right off. not being at the race will impair the ability to be dynamic when changes like this come in, but it doesn't mean that you won't suss out the changes over a few races and be competitive again.

I understand that I do, like I said above, I full accept there is more than a greater chance I'm not using suppliers to their fullest. However, when other managers who were online make the same amount of stops, on the same brand of tyre(all suppliers for that matter), and the same length of stints, finishing with no wasted fuel, finishes 2 minutes quicker, when the rest of the season you were fighting and exchanging wins and podiums then the changes have massively favoured the people who can attend the race, and made it near on impossible for us in none popular timezones to remain involved in the game. Yes we could start our own league, but its not the point, I want to race against many people, with the chances of promotion etc, not just a few of my friends and same people over and over again all stuck in rookie.

If the rivals had used different suppliers, or different compounds or whatever then I completely understand and well played to them, however when all is 'equal' in the suppliers, and the stints, the only difference they were online, thats removing an entire playing group from the site. I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of people who still compete, still contribute, still pay to be a subscriber that don't attend the live race.

Don't get me wrong change is good, very good, however not at the expense of half the sites playing experience. Ive always known that I'm not making the most out of my package by not attending the races, however was still possible to compete and in the simplest of terms to finish on the podium let alone the same lap.

Yes, the changes to tyre wear probably mean that being able to be more dynamic with push levels and being at the race "live" will be a huge help.  All I mean is that this will even out over time as you learn the changes and adjust.  Anyway, it might not, I don't know. I can't see how any change made is not going to impact some player groups when there are so many different styles of play at work (Different race lengths, people being there or not being there, etc).  We run a high rep league that more or less requires attendance if you want to get into the points, let alone podiums, so what do I know?

It may get better, it might not. Life goes on, and we can just sit back and blame John Sjostrand. ;)

Any thoughts of doing this Jack? copy & pasted a suggestion i made going back a few weeks on the supplier suggestion section, now that the suppliers are done..
vvvvvvvvv

"can you put the engine names & tyre motif's on the results page like real life,

team name + Murk or Tifosi etc,
and the tyre motif in column after (Black B in red background for Bridgerock, and White M in Blue background for Michigan, Black D in Yellow for Donelots etc etc)
Would make the results page more interesting seeing what everyone is using in that race.

So is there actually any benefit changing suppliers now then? Or will I just get messed up by doing it?

The supplier changes have worked well but on push level 3 around Abu Dhabi Hard tires were wearing 8% a lap which is really weird and annoying. (I had to leave after my frist pit stop in that race)

Wow, I didn't realise that the suppliers were recalibrated after the change. It made a huge difference in our race.
Whilst it'll take a couple of races to work out the detail but first impressions are the following (based on 50% races): a 1 stop strategy have gone out of the window and softs seem useless.

In a race in Spain in my league i did a 2 stop (50%) all on hards and finished 5th and 6th 30-40 seconds down on the leder and i had 1-2 all the races before that and the other teams where using softs so I dont think softs are useless

I actually like how things have shuffled out - you can actually be competitive with other combinations besides Murk/Bridgerock/Beep - but I think the next thing to do would be to add an intermediate dry tire to the inventory.

The current softs are now like the Bridgestone "super soft" tires, and the hards aren't close enough in performance to make them worthwhile alternatives (at least right now with temperatures as cold as they are). If there were a "bridge" compound between the softs and hards then that could really open up competition a bit more, I'd think.

I'd partly agree with Clark (Comment #97) - it does seem that the new levels of tyre wear mean that a 1-stop over a 50% race is out of the question. The higher fuel usage probably also makes it a non-starter too. However, the softs definitely will have their uses on some tracks, but looks like they will need 'managed' during stints, so that will help people who attend races.

I'd also agree with Tony (Comment #98) that a medium compound tyre, or even a super-soft, soft, medium, hard selection would make things more interesting - anything that opens up more strategy choices will make races even better. However obviously that would mean more changes to attributes - probably both tyres and fuel to also re-open a 1-stop option in 50% races.

I'm not for a minute suggesting this should be done now, but maybe should be a medium-term aspiration.

Was this patch meant to give more flavor to 50% races primarily? Because I find it difficult to comprehend that a 6-stop strategy is an accurate portrayal of 100% races!
