As of a couple of hours ago, the open beta is... open!

Click here to try the new iGP Manager

Remember, this is just a test site, and it is not a live game launch, which is why we are not creating much fanfare about it. After a few weeks of testing this will become the live game. For now, it is just a voluntary test platform and it will not impact your live account at all.

When open beta is complete all data and accounts on the open beta will be deleted, and the game will be launched on igpmanager.com, where your old accounts will take over. So, don't become too attached to your open beta account, use it to test everything as thoroughly as possible. That's what we need to make the game as polished as possible by the final launch.

I will be writing more blogs in the weeks ahead about the new game and what will change as we migrate to the new platform. As I have already mentioned on the forum there will be changes to the subscription system and the Tokens system has replaced Reward Points to make everything much more straightforward and integrated in to the game. If you are a subscriber on the live site, rest assured that we will ensure that subscribers get better value than anyone else when the new game arrives. It is thanks to your support that we are still here, after all.

FAQ

Will the open beta use my account from igpmanager.com?

No. The purpose of the open beta is to test the game and find issues. The open beta test will be totally voluntary and run on a separate website from the live site and both will co-exist at the same time for a period, until the update is ready to go live.

Will I need to create a new team on the new iGP?
&
Will I need to re-build my team / drivers / staff when the new iGP Manager is released?

No. Your current team will be moved to the new iGP Manager in its entirety. The only thing you need to do is re-assign your design attributes as the new system will be totally different. Your design progress will be converted to a value on the new system and you will be able to assign it wherever you wish on the attributes of your car.

Will my results on the open beta count for anything?

Nope. All data, teams and results from the open beta website will be deleted when the update goes live.

Will I lose anything when the update goes live on igpmanager.com?

Everyone will lose the Commercial Director and some facilities (e.g. Commerce) which have been removed from the new game, but you will keep drivers, most staff and facilities. You'll pretty much keep everything you have on the new iGP.

Will my league continue on the new iGP Manager?

Yes. We have worked hard to ensure that there will be as little disruption to your leagues as possible. The worst case scenario we can foresee is that there will be one day of down-time while the update is put live, and all races are postponed on that day. Other than that, leagues should continue as if nothing happened.

Philip - on the beta website click report a bug on the right of the screen. The blue vertical button. Write a report of the issue there with as much information as you can provide so we can fix it. Thanks.

Lucky - there will be an android and ios native app released later in the year. It will be better than ever on mobiles and you'll be able to live manage the race from a phone.

Philippe - i think there are better things we can do which are more enjoyable for longer with gameplay. Assigning designers, building setups etc. became quite time consuming and tiresome in the old game after a while. This is just the beginning of the new platform and we were limited in how much we could include because it all had to be built all over again. More challenges will be added with future updates. But we will find new ideas.

Doesn't let me open the live race. Just says Connected to server and stops there.

I can't monitor live races times on a mobile like I always do on the current version.

Is that going to change?

Hi Jack,

1)The strategy to decide how many designers and how many engineers and mechanics you could hire has disappeared :(

All dépends of the level of your chef designer or your technical director. It's much easier now, no more need to think. :(

2)Choose to put design points for current car or for next year car could be even more interesting no ? In addition to this beta ?

This amendment could allow more strategy and stay closer to the current version .

What do you think ?

Well this new upgrade is definitely something different. There are some things I really like, some others that I prefer from the old iGP. But still early days of open beta, I'll explore it a little more and then give a final feedback. Nevertheless, really nice job with the new graphics!!

That's probably the most interesting part. The new car attributes are designed to work well in different environments. For example a car with good handling is good in the rain or on street circuits but not as strong at a track like monza which requires speed. A car with great tyre and fuel economy might be a bit slower but it can run much longer stints and compete on strategy, as we've seen in recent years in f1 with drivers like Perez snatching podiums from tyre conservation.

Ok for that thanks. But for the design ? where is the strategic choice like in the actual version ?

Will, there is information on overheating tyres in the race. It's the little white arrow on the side of the tyre icon next to the driver. When it crosses in to red they are overheating, and when it crosses in to blue they are too cool.
