UPDATE 3 (13:02GMT): Weather is fully live now and has been for a short while.

UPDATE 2 (12:11 GMT): Work is still ongoing and being wrapped up. We believe weather will go live shortly, during the longer races which started at 12:00 (e.g. 50%, 100% distance races).

UPDATE: The maintenance window has moved to 09:30 GMT - 11:30 GMT.

On Monday July 16th at 11:00 GMT we will be re-enabling real-time weather on the service. We have been working to iron out some inconsistencies with the weather system and have reduced latency between updates in weather appearing on the website and being reflected in races.

As per the poll results of a recent thread, we will be sticking with our augmented-reality weather system which gets conditions from real-world weather stations.

Races from 09:00 -11:00 GMT on Monday will be postponed to make way for a maintenance window.

Great to hear! In the past 20 days I've realized how boring this can be if you know the weather won't change.

I forgot to mention, we're also lowering the minimum temperature to 5 degrees celsius (it was formerly 10).

5 celsius is the coldest temperature ever recorded in an F1 race, so it's a realistic minimum benchmark.

The aim there is to create more scenarios where the hard tyres might not be as effective.

Good change that although more for winter time, maybe Supersofts wont overheat on 1/5 push everywhere when on a 5c track in winter.

Love it! It sure offers more variability in cold conditions.

Race day was very cold in Azerbaijan, Baku this year, the drivers struggled to keep their tyres warm.
In contrast, UK, Silverstone the track temperature was 50c+ And many drivers had to use medium and hard tyres.

This still doesn't help us because supersofts and soft wear rate is too much. Few %  less of tyre wear. and efectivity will be better

What about slowing the Hard tyre?

If no slowing how about editing the time gaps between tyres?

I like the idea. but I think you should also see about the rhythm and wear that tires have on certain circuits as it may be possible that in Hungary at 10 ° C. being a circuit of little Grip is more effective to go with tires Hard that with Super soft.
This idea can be taken or not. but the best thing would be that in circuits of little grip a Plus will be given to the soft tires and one to the tires Hard. to counter this difference.

Hi Jack,

Even if you have reduced the minimum temperature to 5 degrees, my question is have you worked out anything with regard to the tyres esp. hard and mediums. Because mediums just don't work in any circuit whether it is cold or hot. So basically we've to use only 3 tyres, that is SS, S and H.

Will be waiting for your reply.

Thanks and regards

We have not changed the tyres yet, we'll get to that after this. If you have something to say about that please add it to this forum thread to avoid derailing this announcement thread.

We've also opened the discussion on tyres among our feedback group consisting of experienced players, on how they would address it. I will be going through all of the information gathered from the forum thread on it and internal discussions this week and looking at how we can re-balance the tyres.
