KERS fully-charged from start?

Having KERS fully-charged from the start, so it can be used immediately after the lights go out...

This suggestion was made today on Facebook by David Blundell (thanks David!). After reading it I realised it's probably the single most simple and effective protection against being held up behind a car on the opening two laps which has cold tyres or an absent manager. It's also how it works in reality, as drivers use their KERS off the start line. We were attempting to tweak the overtaking code as a solution, but actually I prefer this idea and think the overtaking code could stay virtually unchanged.

But we want to hear some more opinions before we go ahead and do anything about it. So, what do you think of this idea?

I do think having DRS instantly is wrong - if you're on a short first stint you want to get away quickly, without taking your rivals on a longer stint on a tow.

I like the idea, but I know it would cause people to take 1st place, witch gives you clean air. Everyone would just KERS to get track position at the start witch would result in people running whole races without it. Maybe only have 3 seconds of KERS at the start and then after 3-8 laps when it's charged the rest?

I meant can we have the overtaking update (DRS increased aid for overtaking) and the Kers from the start.

And I like Yuri's idea it seems pretty interesting.

We will need to test this as we would with any change & even when we make something live, we can still change it.

I don't follow IRL, do they use it all on the first lap? I suspect they do not.

The prblem with that is there is no strategy involved, everyone will use all 3s at the start.

I like the idea and think it wold add another element to the strategy, to use it at the start to gain positions or be patient and save it for later in the race.

I think maybe just 3 seconds of kers for a lap instead of 1 bar for the whole race?

If you are going to do that then i think Jason's suggestion to have kers use completely hidden except your own would be better combined with having it from lap 1, so theres a bit more strategy with using kers.

basically u can ony see your own kers and see when u are using it, but u cant see any1 else using theres or how much they have left either.

You don't have to use it at the start, you can also use it when someone is holding you up in lap 2 for example

Yes, hiding kers usage should be done regardless of this.

It might help with afk's but it isn't going to help you pass slower cars (atleast not yet until we have the overtaking improved)

IMO, KERS usage should be hidden.

I still think fuel weight should be included in qualifying aswell Jack. There's nothing worse than starting P15 with 31L fuel when the guy on pole starts with 40L aswell.

You can't do that lol. If you open up 2D on the same account on two different PC's it still only follows one set of actions.
