Update live!

The new update to the underlying system behind iGP is live, however, it is likely to be temperamental today. As expected, there were a couple of races that affected by the upgrade process and will need postponing, but the system is running now, albeit in a stripped down form. We're gradually going to start introducing the full benefit of the system over the next 24 hours as we see that each feature we introduce is stable.

Tonight, there is still much that is potentially unstable and we ask for your patience, as we put the system live and run many things on this server for the first time. We expect tomorrow evening to be a better demonstration once things have settled in and run for a while, and the full "power" of the system is introduced.

Note: This update does not introduce new features. It is a service update, not a gameplay update. It is designed to increase the stability of all viewer connections, making them fast and reliable, eliminating disconnects etc. I will keep you posted as things develop.

The races should be running in < 10mins. I know what the problem is precisely, just need to do some manual work to get them running first.

Well, to say I'm overwhemed right now is an understatement. Some things which have always worked have suddenly stopped working and this is causing me a great deal of trouble trying to get the races running.

I'm very sorry, I can't get this working any faster. I'm aware of every race that isn't running and why. However, some basic things aren't working, and I need to investigate why they have stopped working. Some tiers in leagues run just fine when I tell them to, and others refuse to run entirely when issuing simple commands. The qualifying for some races for example will not run no matter how many times I try to force it, and I am trying to get around that now.

We have 16 races this evening that are effectively a write-off. Sorry for everyone in those leagues, they are too delayed now to run. I will postpone them and resume work on the underlying issue.

Every league that should be running and isn't right now is practically a write-off. Whatever this issue is, it basically appeared out of nowhere an hour ago and hasn't responded to anything I've thrown at it.

It's a really bizarre issue. I expected teething problems, but not for the service to just stop running qualifying sessions and not respond to any commands. It did nothing like this during testing, but that's partly because our live environment is quite different to our test environment. There are so many things we need to improve about the structure behind the scenes. This update is a necessary first step.

At the end of the day the pain of 1 postponed race in a bunch of leagues for the benefits this update will bring (once operational) are worth it.

P.S. Sándor - I haven't been paid in 6 months. Not to excuse anything, just to point out that this scrooge mcduck vision is a little skewed. I'm actually paying much more to keep iGP running than you are paying to play it, you can think of me as the biggest subscriber of all, with the most to lose here.
