With the latest IGP update having dropped nearly two weeks ago I thought it about time someone put together a quick guide to the new Engine Manufacturing feature. This guide will deal with the mechanics of Engine Manufacturing, I will not be making any recommendations about circuit specific tuning, finances or supplier/customer relationships. These aspects of manufacturing will be for the Manager to decide for themselves.
IMPORTANT
Before you commit to spending 10 tokens and £100m game cash you should be aware that becoming an engine manufacturer is a one-way process, there is no going back. You will manufacture and supply engines for your own team and the standard game engines (Murk, Tifosi etc.) will no longer be available to you.
LEVEL
Your team level is linked to engine manufacturing in a number of ways:
- You must be Level 20 to become an engine manufacturer.
- You can supply your engines to customers. The maximum number of customers you can supply is Level – 20.
- The number of Engine Points (EP) you can assign for each circuit is capped at your team level.
ENGINE POINTS (EP)
EP can be collected in one of three ways:
- As a manufacturer you are awarded 1 EP after each league race.
- You may receive a maximum of 5 EP each day watching adverts on the mobile App.
- EPs can be purchased in exchange for tokens in the shop at a cost of 1 token per EP.
TUNING
You assign EP to your engines to boost any one of the eight design attributes. There is a cap on the number of EP you can assign equivalent to your level and your engines can be tuned differently for each of the 24 circuits.
The design attributes are paired, adding EP to any attribute will result in its pair receiving a negative value of 50%.
The design attribute pairings are:
- Acceleration & Braking
- Downforce & Handling
- Fuel Economy & Tyre Economy
- Cooling & Reliability
These pairings cannot be changed until a Manager reaches Level 30 at which point they can edit the weakness.
Examples:
You assign 20 EP to Acceleration for Great Britain. For this circuit your base design will be modified to +20 Acceleration / -10 Braking.
You assign 21 EP to Handling for Germany. For this circuit your base design will be modified to +21 Handling / -11 Downforce.
CUSTOMERS
Your first “customer” is always your own team, so if you become a manufacturer at Level 20 you can only supply engines to yourself. For each level above 20 you can supply engines to another customer team, at L21 you can have one customer up to level 30 when you can have 10.
As a manufacturer you can determine the cost per race of your engines to any team that uses them. The range is between £500k and £1m in £100k increments.
MISCELLANEOUS (Answers to questions)
- A popular misconception is that EP are reset at the end of a season. This is not the case, once EP have been assigned to a circuit they remain assigned, they will not reset, nor can they be removed and assigned to a different circuit.
- In addition, any EP that you have not yet assigned are also unaffected by the end of season reset process.
- The attribute to which EP have been assigned can be changed at no cost. For example, you put 20 EP to Braking for USA which results in +20 Bra / -10 Acc but later realise you made a mistake and in fact wanted to assign the EP to Fuel Economy. You may edit the attribute to which you assigned the EP for the USA circuit at no cost which will result in +20 FE / -10 TE.
