Loading issues

We are investigating ongoing loading issues across the site which seem to have started around 15:00 GMT and gradually increased in intensity throughout the evening.

If your race is more than 30 minutes late to start then it will be postponed to the next calendar slot.

Updates will be posted here as we have them, edited in to this post.

UPDATE 19:46 GMT - The game is back online. Our next task is to make sure the results are posted for the races that did run during this period and did not post results, and to postpone the races that did not start. The rest of our evening will be spent manually investigating such cases.

UPDATE 19:20 GMT - We have identified the issue and are putting a solution in place. We will restore the service as soon as we possibly can.

I can assure you that the game team is working tirelessly to resolve the issue.  We understand your frustration but we are even more frustrated.  The incident was detected at 3:00 p.m. and work began on resolving it.  The Managing Director has now had time to send this communiqué and the moderators are translating it into their respective languages, you will have all the information translated and live.

Explaining it started around 15:00 is me trying to be as accurate as possible. Only a couple of people had any problems at 15:00, and 99% of the service had no problems.


As an analogy, it's like a leak under the sink inside a cupboard. A silent, unseen drip of water from the pipe which you don't see or hear. It's not even a big problem at this point and even if you did find it you could just wipe it up with a tissue. But eventually, it becomes a puddle, the hole in the pipe maybe lets out more water, and it becomes a bigger problem. That's where we're at now. As the flow of data through our own "pipes" increased, so did the problem, which was previously unseen, unheard and didn't even create any complaints from users, until now. But we traced back where it started to 15:00, and explained that in case anyone noticed anything strange earlier (probably almost nobody did at 15:00).

We are tentatively putting the game back up now but realise there is still a lot to tidy up from earlier. As we said in the OP above if your race is more than 30 minutes late and has not started then it will be postponed to the next slot.

Our next task is to make sure the results are posted for the races that did run during this period and did not post results, and to postpone the races that did not start.
