We will be moving the entire service to a new hosting provider. This is one of the biggest projects we have undertaken with iGP Manager.

Why move? To greatly improve the quality and scalability of the service. Our aim is to reduce the number of faults significantly once we have settled in, and create the possibility of scaling well beyond current levels with no loss in quality.

When will the move happen? 28th August. I've posted a schedule below.

All races on the day of migration will be moved to the next suitable date. This 24 hour period without races will give us time to run checks on all of the systems and should be a large enough safety margin to account for any foreseeable issues. The websites and apps will be online during most of this time.

How long will it take? The websites and apps will function for much of the day of the migration. We expect the maintenance message on the websites and app (during which it won't be accessible) to last for art least 12 hours. To minimise disruption as much of this as possible will be during the least busy hours. We hope by peak hours (late afternoon in Europe) to be back online with normal service.

Detailed lap-by-lap race result data (shown after you click on a driver in results) will be deleted in the move. Race results will remain. Unfortunately, due to the volume of lap-by-lap data we cannot justify including this in the move. I recently added CSV Export which will allow you to export this data before it is deleted, so if you wish to keep it please do that as soon as you can. Although recent efforts to prune this data to manageable levels have been successful, it is still so large that it cannot be justified to take it in the migration. Note: lap-by-lap data will resume and be available on all races that occur after the migration.

That means that the day which you make the migŕation, the race will NOT take place, right?

Correct. We will announce the date as soon as we have it, likely on Wednesday.

Will detailed lap by laps of new races after this update is done start being saved again or is it off permanently?

Hi Jack,

Will the notification of "move day" be announced by an in-game mail to all players? I guess not everyone is reading the forum.
Good luck with the move by the way... it's a big thing.

All races after the migration will have detailed lap-by-lap data. The feature isn't going anywhere, just the past data from before the migration (so we can move efficiently).

Thanks. It will be very clear across the game - there will be a translated message on the top of the home page as soon as the date is set.

It looks like we'll do the migration first thing next week. Once that's confirmed (or not) I'll issue the date and it'll be announced on the home page.

Okay, it's official. The migration will occur on Tuesday 28th August.

Here's a rough schedule and what to expect:

  • 2300 GMT on Monday 27th August
All races stop running, auctions stop and all races for the next 24 hours are postponed to the next calendar slot.

  • 0100 GMT on Tuesday 28th August
Maintenance window begins (website and app are replaced with maintenance message)

  • 1400 - 1600 GMT (estimate)
Maintenance ends and website is online with new hosting provider.

  • Midnight GMT
    Races resume running

If we hit any problems (likely), the time of the site coming back online may be later than estimated. We'll keep everyone up to date on Twitter throughout.

Awesome thanks for the info Jack :)

Our Host and myself (current co-host) of our league is actually contemplating of postponing our races, is it worth doing this to make it easier for you guys?

We'll postpone everything. No need to worry about it. It'll be done in bulk.

Odd question. Will drivers still recover over this period? (Is it worth dumping a full training schedule before the migration starts?) :)

Good question, I suppose we might as well make that possible. Another chance to gain an edge over rivals. So we'll recover health after this, yes.

UPDATE: it's looking like we'll have to ditch records of past financial transactions and practice laps in the migration as well to speed things up. You'll be able to run new practice laps after the migration and financial data will resume as normal, in the same way as lap by lap race data.

np Jack :) I've pitched it to our League anyway to see what they prefer.

So after the migration will we see a new user interface? Or will the current interface remain the same even if you have migrated to the new service.

The update to the game (new car etc.) will come very soon after the server migration, but not at the same time or on the same day. They are two separate updates.

Dear Jack,
quick question regarding the lap-by-lap race result data. I use to keep records of my races but, there is the case of Abu Dabhi. Being the last race of the season and if you are not fast enough, it is not possible to save those data. The only solution is to wait for the same race of the following season to get it. I am already imagining your answer but, is there a way to get those data before the migration?
Thanks
