Change qualifying system

We know the reasons behind why there is no live qualifying so please avoid responding putting that in.

Qualifying is done on a 1 lap which has lead to more and more random results.  In highly competitive leagues you can qualify in 29th or 3rd.  Nearly all have talent 20 and most max.  Most managers are 19 and 20 as well.

The suggestion.  Qualify with race fuel.  

If this is the case then qualifying is broken and different to other sources and comments made.  Change from 1 lap to simulating 10-15 laps and take the quickest.

The current system is dated

i like that idea, so qualifying would have an impact on strategy, we would see different strategies and when you start at the end of the grid, than for a reason and you might be able to overcut.

It's all good and all....but 10-15 laps????? On 100% length races that would take forever!!!  2-5 laps...tops! 

i think one lap is enough, when the car is qualifying with the weight(fuel) of the first stint. Would give the manager the option to manage the qualifying a bit, while there is still some randomness, since no driver always has a perfect lap.

i would just like to highlight the issue a bit more with data proof that qualifying is horribly broken in its current state and should be made a priority to fix.
at todays Bahrain GP in the league i'm in my car was one of the top 5 cars in practice. everyone else being 4-5 tenths off pace. did 3 laps on super soft tyres in practice and the slowest i got was a 1:28.9, top time being a 1:28.7. come quali all my pace is suddenly gone and someone else who was 6 tenths off the pace suddenly snatches pole even beating my best practice lap in the process.
it's understandable that he was just "lollygagging", hiding his pace with a bad setup just to see what his fuel consumption and tyre deg will be, but it doesn't explain how my car suddenly loses all its speed finishing 5-6 tenths behind my practice laps which was done in the same conditions 10 minutes before qualifying. another car who had a very similar lap to me in practice did a lap on soft tyres in quali and was just 1 tenth behind mine.
the cars in question in this case are the ones from Capeta GP (my car), Empire Racing (the car off pace who got pole) and Taurus Racing (the car that almost beat my quali lap on a harder compound tyre).

based on your data i would say the System works and is realistic, for two reasons:
1. you can hide your speed in practice, e.g. doing the practice with 0 Heath, can be 1 sec. Last Season Ferrari was up to 1 sec slower in practice.
2. the driver does not always has a perfect lap. So there is some difference between lap times, even under same conditions. i observed around 0,5 sec.
So the situation with the soft driver you explained is normal when he got a perfect lap and you a bad, because there is just 1 lap it can happen often.

The only point about the system where they have to work on in my view, is the fuel effect. When you want to start lighter and you have a bad lap you have a problem.
Here in the game is a quali used which is created for no refueling races while we race with refueling.

i definitely understand where you're coming from, having a bad lap is rng and it can happen (am probably just quite a bit salty because it happens very often to me).

taking especially the last part of your response into account though i think you hit the nail on the head that the current quali system doesn't match the refueling races.

exactly right bastian.  I have seen 2 drivers from the same team, both max 20 stats and a S compound qualifies higher than the SS.  Then the SS works through.  It is an old system in dire need of an upgrade

Is it possible to change the tyres that you qualify on for the first stint? Or do you have to start the race on the tyres you have qualified on?

Yes, you have to start with same tires you used in qualify.

With jany aspects in this game its random, yes you can hide pace but what makes cars different, if drivers abd dev are equal so should pace, unless of course there are things we cant see.

If you find a friend, get them to develop car and driver to match yours exactly you will still get big differences in performance, why, well my guess is hidden talents.

I have been in a league with 4 others fir ages, we all agreed to develop everythingbto tge same level and we foubd that 1 driver was better at qually, while another was better on cokd tyres.
The old igp had driver traits which i think still exist yet they are now hidden.
