The steps in this thread should no longer required to access the iGP viewer, as the applet is now signed

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A new version of Java has been released, Download it here.

If you receive an error message such as 'Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running', please follow the instructions below to access the viewer again.

I had to restart the machine after the java update, otherwise the java console looked quite different from the one described/pictured.

For #6 in Method 3:

It turns out that (for me), having security settings on 'High' disallows me from entering the 2D viewer. I have to keep my Security settings at Medium for it to work. I mentioned turning the security settings back to 'High' so that the instructions do not pose a risk for any users. If someone wishes to set & reset the Security settings before and after each game, that is up to them I guess.

I've retained a 'Medium' security setting and will just keep it there. Hopefully that doesn't bite me in the ass later.

RE: Method 1. That is not possible with my install as I do not have a 'Edit Site List' button. I am using Windows 7 64-bit, latest Java 7.45. Which is why Method 3 might be the only option for some.

In the dialog box that opens, click the Add button, and add:
https://race.igpmanager.com

Are the viewer pages supposed to be served via HTTPS? For as long as I can remember my viewer pages have always been HTTP only. I just tried to spectate a race and then manually navigate to the equivalent page on HTTPS, and Firefox tells me "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at race.igpmanager.com."

David,

Is 7.45 the newest Java for Windows 7 64-bit? I'm on XP SP3, and my version is "Version 7 Update 51 (build 1.7.0_51-b13)" according to my Java's About dialog.

I don't get the option to add exceptions - win7 64-bit with Java 7 v45 (32-bit) and am not prepared to risk security of my system by lowering the level.
Please sort out your application!

-------------------from java.com website----------------

SOLUTION

The application that you are running is blocked because the developer has not met with the security guidelines implemented in Java 7 Update51.
It is in your best interest to contact developer or publisher of this application and let them know about the application being blocked. Also provide developers with these links that gives details about implementing secure practices in the code for the application.

[list]
[*]JAR File Manifest Attributes for Security
[*]Java SE 7 Security Documentation
[*]Secure Coding Guidelines for the Java Programming Language, Version 4.0

Ah OK. The Exception Site List feature is being introduced in the release of Java 7 Update 51, so update your Java versions and you can add the exception.

Adding https://race.igpmanager.com doesn't work!

If you try http://race.igpmanager.com it brings up a security warning that "Including an HTTP Location on the Exception Site List is considered a security risk" and "Locations that use HTTP are a security risk and may compromise the personal information on your computer"

Advise please? (apart from dig out an old laptop that you are not worried about security on)

Thank you for sharing your experiences, I'm sure this thread will save many people headaches.

We are looking in to getting our viewer signed so that these steps will no longer be necessary, in the mean-time these workarounds will be necessary for some users.

I get a black screen Jack. Missing 3 races because of this could be very uncool.

Time to dig the old laptop out, update java and turn off all the security...

How long do you think it will take to get the app signed?

Not sure I want to renew my expired subscription if I can't use the 2D

We've already got the certificate signed now, it's just being installed by our Java developer. It should hopefully be done in a couple of hours, and certainly tomorrow everything should be sorted.

Once that's done these workarounds will no longer be necessary.

My Security tab looks like this on my Java control panel...I re-installed the latest version of Java too. So none of these settings show up. Any alternative methods like through Chrome settings or are these the only ones?
