Why don't you all do what the iWS did? On the day of the first race, everybody send the league host a screenshot with the designs. That way he can control it.
What's the fuss about?
Andrew Hurn medal 5000 11 years 133 days ago
The rule in itself is fine. The issue is about what penalty to apply
Elcio P medal 5000 11 years 133 days ago
For example: if you go over in one part, in a determined % gap (say, from 80 to 85%), you'll have to miss a race from one of your drivers. Just mandate that one of them start with 1L of fuel in the first stint, that way they can't even make to the pits.
Or... you maybe don't want to be that harsh, mandate a pitstop penalty. Like the suggestion above, make one driver (or both) pit in the first lap.
I really think you guys can come up with lots of options on which penalty to apply in those cases. You lot just have to agree on what to do.
It worked pretty well in the iWS tbh.

I was just thinking the same thing. Why not apply a pit stop penalty - Take an extra stop, or force someone to retire from a single race. But I am not one to speak XD
Alin Costrasuc medal 5000 11 years 133 days ago
In Jason's case, penalty is simple. Speak Polish for one whole day.

do you guys accept single car teams ?

Yes.

Can I join If someone Leaves ?
Andrew Hurn medal 5000 11 years 131 days ago
I have added you to the waiting list for Elite. You are 2nd on the list.

For clarity......
The 15 minute rule
In the event that there is an interruption to the service either during or before a race, the league host would post on the league page that the 15 minute rule has started, together with the time it started & if the race could be started or restarted within 15 minutes, we would carry on with the race. If the race did not start or restart within 15 minutes, the league host would request a complete reset & a postponement of the race until the next allotted race time, (in our case the next day).

The 80% rule
This rule applies to the Elite tier only of the British Racing League
The purpose of this rule is to prevent a manager starting the season or joining part way through the season with a highly developed car. Ie: above 80% on a sliding scale.
At the start of the season all managers will be checked to see the level of development on their cars. In the event that the average of their parts exceeds 80%, that Manager will be required to perform a pit stop at the end of lap 1, for each race where they exceed 80% by multiples of 3%. Any manager joining part way through the season will have the same penalty applied.
For example, if at the start of a season a manager had 88% development, they would be required to stop at the end of the 1st lap for the 1st 3 races. If a Manager has an average of 81%, they would be required to stop at the end of the 1st lap of the opening race only.
If someone joins part way through the season, the penalty will be on a sliding scale. For example, someone joins after the 2nd race with a 88% developed car, they need to stop at the end of the 1st lap for their 1st race only.
The sliding scale reads:
<=80% No penalty
<=83% 1 race pit at the end of the 1st lap
<=86% 2 races pit at the end of the 1st lap
=100% 7 races pit at the end of the 1st lap
etc.
The scale for someone joining part way through the season:
Joining after 1 race - <=83% no penalty – 1 race per 3% or part thereof.
joining after 2 races - <=86% no penalty – 1 race per 3% or part thereof.
Joining after 7 races - <=100% no penalty
etc
This rule will come into effect at the beginning of season 30.

I would rather the check for car% be on the day of the 1st race. As someone will be able to get a 90% car by race 1 if this is the rule.
Andrew Hurn medal 5000 11 years 128 days ago
Apologies if I have not made that clear.
The checks will be made on the day of the opening race, after the design delivery time of 12:00gmt. People joining would be checked in the same way, prior to them racing
Lewis Goodway medal 5000 11 years 128 days ago
just my opinion but i also feel this is not strict enough. People already in the league structure should understand that they should not be at over 80% at the start of the season. To stop people even thinking of doing this they should be kicked if they do that. The problem we have had is people joining mid season. Its not there fault that they have an out of sink car. As spots in the league are hard to come by and they have to grab them while they can and wont worry about car %. But if you tell someone new they have to pit on lap 1 wont it ruin there fun? Could we not just make them have a more even speed by making them change a supplier to a slower one. Then they can still compete in the races in the same way but with an even speed car.
Lewis Goodway medal 5000 11 years 128 days ago
I just know what people are like and they will know the advantage of starting the season with a 95% car. Taking the penalty then using the advantage from race 3 onwards.
Andrew Hurn medal 5000 11 years 128 days ago
Well, if they have a 95% car, that is 5 races when they need to pit on the 1st lap. It's a 20 second penalty, roughly, if their car is that good they could be in the points easily. Also they are not going to stop developing their car & we are not going to ask them what level it is at after a few races.
Kicking people out of the league is too drastic
Lewis Goodway medal 5000 11 years 128 days ago
But this just allows people to turn up with a 100% car now. Which is why we had a rule in place so people wont do that. Now you have given them the option. :/
Ignatius B Corleone medal 5000 11 years 128 days ago
Thats kind of harsh on people who are on waiting lists and currently racing in other leagues BUT I understand its purpose.
Andrew Hurn medal 5000 11 years 128 days ago (edited 11 years 127 days ago)
It is wrong to prevent people from joining based on the level of their car. We will miss out on some great managers. There are 2 from this season alone. We want a level playing field not a closed shop.
These rules are not cast in stone, but we have to start somewhere.
A 20 ish second penalty for 7 races is a high enough price to pay for joining with or starting with a 100% car. We don't want to turn people away.
If this penalty is troo harsh we can change it. If it is not harsh enough we can change it.
