The tyre changes are live now (since 14:00 GMT, not 11:00 GMT as originally planned). All practice laps from the last 2 days have been wiped again to allow everyone to re-do their practice laps.

Tomorrow at 11:00 GMT we will be rolling out a further update to tyre wear and performance. These changes are aimed at increasing the variety of strategies in 75% and 100% duration leagues.

What has changed?

  • In 100% duration races, tyres will wear at the same rate as 75% duration races used to

  • In 75% duration races, tyres will wear at the rate of a "62.5% duration race" on the old scale. In other words, they'll be halfway between where they were before now and a 50% race in terms of wear.

  • Hard tyres will be made slightly faster to bring them more in to contention with the other compounds

  • Intermediate and Wet tyres will wear slightly faster overall

Our primary goal is to get the wear scaling to a level where there is a general consensus on the balance of the tyres and not this split in the discussions we see now between e.g. 50% and 100% leagues, with the former saying it's great and the latter saying it needs changing. From all the feedback we've received from 100% leagues, it's clear that Super Soft and Soft were overpowered due to their life cycle being too long. These changes are aimed directly at addressing that, by reducing the life cycle of tyres in those race durations the Super Soft and Soft tyre should become less dominant. Increasing the speed of the Hard tyre may also bring them back in to play.

As with all changes to the tyres recently, if any further tweaks are needed, we will read all of your feedback and respond accordingly. We accept that it's something that needs to be tweaked on an ongoing basis and can't just be handled in one update. After all, this is a debate which grips F1 too, the balance of tyre compounds. It's a delicate balancing act.

Great!! to see if little by little it is given with a perfect balance! Wishing to try it! thanks and regards

Sounds like a good step, I still would like to see restriction on type of tyres for individual races and also force the use of at least 2 compounds per race.

Would be good to maybe update pit stop times too, to help vary strats. Surely the times are out of date, they have been the same for a while

And when to the average tires?

Yes, and add Hyper Soft and Ultra Soft too probably? :P

I hear these suggestions every day, but we are not planning to implement them, not least because if we just copy F1 we are risking copyright infringement and other issues. Also, these kind of solutions are not really solutions, they are just artificial rules admitting that you can't make an interesting tyre balance in the first place. We don't have that problem. We can make it interesting to use all of the compounds.

So if the race is scheduled at the time of the maintenance it will be postponed to the next day correct?

Great update for 75% & 100% races ;)

About Wet tire i think we should open the push step a bit in way that PL1 to have less power as in many cases they overheat even with high levels of water (3.1+)

Hi! It’s great to be watching Users’ opinions and responds so fast! This is amazing! Thank You!

My help with my own opinion:

In reality the hard tyres used in the South, and Soft tyres  in the North. + - 20 C°

Current Tire performance & wear not realistic in the South. There are two forum camps, soft and hard. New Upgrade it’s between this twoo camps.  So the new Upgrade will not be realistic in the South, nor in the North.

However, everywhere realistic  opens a new Question: can users be expected to know where the Tyres really is, rather than an engineer?

There will be no downtime. It will be integrated seamlessly for races running at that time, in time for their qualifying. If you need to work out what the wear rates will be after the change, simple multiply accordingly (in 100% leagues it'll be *0.75, in 75% leagues it'll be *0.8333).

First report we've heard of big problems on iOS. We are working fast to iron out any bugs we can find, but even once we have completed an update, Apple must approve it which can take 2 days.

After the update supersoft  will wear a lot more in a 100% league.  Then supersoft are useless  i think.

Seems great! Really thanks for listening the players feedback/opinions/issues. This is a very nice game, im enjoying it since I started playing and things like this make me want to stay for longer and tell my friends to join the party (sorry my bad english, im from Spain)

That's great, but I think you should take a look of tyres at 50% duration too. At 50% now the preferred strategy is S-S in almost every circuit and it's a winning strategy. I think the only circuit where that strategy is useless is in Monaco. The short pit stop advantage in Europe is useless for an SS strategy because S are the strongest tyre tipe. You've done a great job with tyre updating, it was a great idea, but I think you can do something more with 50% duration. :)

At first, it is really good that you are trying to improve the tyre Situation and did a good Job so far.

In my opinion that new update will just increase the bias towards the soft tire.
Instead of just complaining like many others, without having reasonable Facts i try to explain it based on Facts.

I race 100 % and have built an extra Team to test tyres and strategy for my first Team, where i tested with a similar Driver, equal weight and equal car the different tyre types at the same moment, so i have a reasonable amount of data.
In Addition i thought at the beginn of playing (first two Seasons) that softs and supersofts are the fastest, that was before before the update. So i have 4 Seasons of data and especially data what Impact that data has on the s and ss.

At the Moment the ss is the fastes on around 3-7 races per Season, depends on track characteristic and weather, the range (3-7) is effected by the weather, so when the ss overheats the s is faster.

The s is the fastest on all the other races, except of one race in spain, where the medium was slightly faster, nut one day later when it was a bit cooler the s was faster again.

When you readjust the wear rate now, you can stay for a Shorter amount on the ss, so there will be a shift towards more soft races. You will not increase the variance of strategies, you will decrease it.
The Adjustments of the hard does not effect anything, because you could even with the old wear rates use the s Long enough to have 3 stops, without wearing them too Long.

Now enough complained, a couple of ideas how you could adjust, really solve the Problems.

Fisrt the simple Solutions and their expected effect:
1.  Just go back to the old temperature sensitivity, that would lead to a faster overheating of the ss and s, so the ss would be less often the fastest tyre and the s would overheat a couple of times, too. Compared to your planned Adjustment, that would really lead to more variance, because the medium would be the fastest on some tracks too. So you would have at least 3 dominatnt tyres, dependent on the conditions.

Now the tougher Adjustments:
When you are putting in fixed stats like you do in the tyre equation you Always get a fixed result (one dominant strategy), thats just simple math.
After you tried to adjust one Parameter of the equation you should think About adjusting other Parameters: thetrack characteristics or the weather.

2. We could see before the update that track characteristic difference has a big Impact ( Monaco the only real SS), so if you want to have more variance in strategies, you should Maybe try to Change them, e.g. wear rate in Monaco 3% and in Monza 30%, then you get real different strategies.
But anyhow will lead to one dominant strategy per track. But at least all tyre types would be used during a Season.

3. To bring in real variance in the strategies you have to put in variable Parameters, either you make a easy solution, you adjust the tyres every Season in the one or other direction, that Players have to find out the best solution
or finally real variable Parameters, in my opinion the best solution and the hardest to implement.
The weather would be the best Parameter for that, if the tyres would be really temperature sensitive that a 5 Degree Change will have an Impact on the strategy, together with the other fixed Parameter that would really lead to varying strategies.

I hope you will read

You have a point with most but with this is a must for my opinion too in a way we need to step back on push level with SS and S only.

as i experienced just the temperature would be enough to have 3 strategies, in case the s can overheat since the Medium is faster now.

obviously your suggestion is great and would make it more interesting for example that m on pl3 has the same speed like s on ok 1

just tried to make some suggestions especially in Part 1 and 2 which are easy to implement without a Lot of additional testing
