TEAM WAYCOTT SCORE MAIDEN LEAGUE WIN!!

After 8 seasons in Speed Series League, Team Waycott have finally acheived they're first win, as well as Tyson Thompson's first win for the team.

The result came after an eventfull race where the weather played a major part. Everyone's pre-race strategies where thrown out the window and had to adjusted for the changeble conditions. Having made some quick decisions as they're drivers pitted for the first stop, Team Waycott opted to split the 2 drivers by putting Hamilton on Wets and Thompson on Inters. It turned out the latter was the correct way to go and Hamilton pitted 2 laps later to make the change to inters and from then on it was damage limitation time.

"It was a tough call, the track was still very wet and we had to make a stop quickly, unfortunately we made the wrong choice, but that's racing" Hamilton reported after the race. "But this is a great result for the team, we've been close before but never quite had the pace towards the end of the race".

The highest result for the team had been in Malaysia during Season 8 when Hamilton finished 0.2 seconds behind Itzel Santiago.

"This has been a great race and a well deserved with for Tyson" Team Manager Nick Randall said, "We've always had the belief that he could win races but we never had the car for him to do so".
"Today was lucky, as we made the right calls on the strategy for Tyson and his shear determination got him to the front".

The team have since announced that Thompson has signed a new contract to stay with the team for the forseable future.

"I'm very happy to continue here and to help build the team towards winning the championship, these guys have been a great support when I've been having a difficult seasos and it's great to repay them by winning today".

KEEPING COOL IN THE DESERT
____________________________

After a couple of tricky races, with rain mixing up the order, allowing two teams to score their maiden Grand Prix victories, it was back to business in Bahrain. As always in Bahrain, tyre management and cooling was the name of the game, with the track temperature rising to unprecedented levels during the race.

For the first time, since the Belgium Grand Prix in season six, Relentless Racing were able to lockout the front row in qualifying, with Jamie Davies heading up Ryota Onishi by three tenths of a second, and a further tenth back to Team Brady's Edna Dempsey.

"It was a great lap," Admits Davies. "I pushed the car to the limit, and it felt fantastic. I also believe that it's the first time that our team has scored successive pole positions since Monaco and Turkey in season six, so it's a good achievement, and it shows that our car definitely has raw pace, and we'll be looking to go one further in Spain, for sure,"

In the race, the pair got off to a good start, keeping their positions, and ever so slightly pulling a gap to those behind, whilst continuing to manage the heat of the tyres.

"Our goal was to get our drivers out of the range of the DRS, and then just manage the gap and the tyres. Had we pushed any harder, then we would have been vulnerable at the end of the stint, so it was just a matter of consistency, which both Jamie and Ryota did brilliantly," Stated Xavier Sanchez - the team's technical director.

There wasn't really much action at the front of the field, and this led to the team getting its first 1-2 of the season, and increasing the gap in the Championship to 69 points.

"This is definitely what we need. It's a long season, and as we saw two seasons ago, we know that anything can change, and we might lose our pace advantage sooner or later, so the points we get on board now are absolutely vital. We've been blessed by some less than average performances from all of the teams that follow us, which have covered up a couple of our mistakes, so we needed to get on top of that before the other teams began to catch us, and I think we definitely did that here,"

Although Relentless Racing might be running away with it at the moment, the battle behind them is heating up dramatically. Tremblay, Thompson, Dempsey, Janis and Roux are all separated by just seven points after four races. If this continues, we'll be in for a hell of a fight between those five drivers.

Yeah, I don't think I'll even be here tonight, but it doesn't matter, unless of course it rains. I still think that you can compete, easily. You've never been very far behind in all of the races, and I've only been able to score a 1-2, once this season.

CHANGES, CHANGES, CHANGES
____________________________

It seems like there are more changes going on in Jamie Franklin's team this week, as they continue their pursuit for greatness, and of course to reclaim the World Championship.

The first change is the team's name. Having lost sponsorship from Relentless just over a season ago, the Jamie tried to find a suitable replacement to the team's name and of course its finance.

"There were a lot of options available, and considering that we are a family, I wanted to have a democratic vote for the name change, which every staff member could participate in, from the chief designer, to the workers in the factory and even our drivers. The vote was pretty conclusive in the end, and I can announce that our team shall be called Franklin F1 from now onwards,"

As Jamie unveiled the new logo for the team, you could see a look pride twinkling in his eye. Gone were the days that his team was a corporate endeavour to please the Relentless management, and on come the days of true racing prowess, governed by the man who has led the team to many victories, and of course the Championship.

"The name may have changed, but our approach will not. We are still the same fanatics of the sport that we have always been, and we shall continue to relentlessly drive forward to the best of our ability to achieve the best results possible,"

The other change comes at the head of the design department, a position that was filled by the impressive Ivan Soto, who led the team's design updates that were very successful last season. The team went from barely being able to score points, to a podium result and pole position in Singapore. However, the new chief designer - Jose Garza looks set to continue that impressive work.

"I worked very closely with Ivan last season, and what many people don't know is that Ivan's position was only temporary. He was brought on board to help lead the team in its time of need, and agreed to stay, but he didn't want to continue heading the department, due to his family commitments. As such, I worked very closely with him, so that we could both understand the car and where we wanted to take it. Now, I believe I am ready to lead the design department just as Ivan did, and although he may not be playing a dominant role in the team, he will still be helping to design the car, and I have full faith in the team of designers that we have to build successful, race-winning cars in the future,"

Many were worried about the team's future when Relentless pulled the plug on the program, but it's easy to say that things are looking very nicely for the British team at the moment.

BACK IN THE FOLD

After only 2 races, Team Waycott has announced the departure of driver Eduards Mellis.

“The partnership with Eduards was only temporary as Samuel had to take some personal time due to his sister’s wedding”. Team Owner and Manager Nick Randall said today.
“We’d like to thank Eduards for stepping up at the last minute to fill the seat and are certain that he’ll be back driving again in the future. Whether it will be for us or another team, we’ll have to wait and see. But for sure he has the talent”.

Hamilton’s return also comes with the official unveiling of the team’s new colours and logo. Pavel Makriev the team’s Technical Director said “We’ve already been racing with the new colours but now we finally have the new logo to coincide with our move to our new factory”, “it’s been a tough season for us so far, but with the new facilities we should be able to begin closing the gap to our rivals” added Chief Designer Samuel Thomas.

The British fans are in for a treat come Silverstone, with Franklin F1 and Team Brady Racing 1-2 in the Championship respectively. The four drivers are likely to come to blows again, having filled the top four positions in most of the races this season.

Having won four races this season, compared to Team Brady's one, Franklin F1 is the likely candidate to take the win. However, as we have seen many times in the past, things can change in an instant, and Team Brady has been closing in on Franklin F1 since the first race, and could well have an update ready for their home race. Franklin F1 have only made minor tweaks to their car since launching it.

Usually, we've seen Franklin F1 make more public announcements when it came to their updates, but as of yet, we haven't heard anything yet, although it could well be a surprise, considering the fight is so tight at the front.

Jamie Franklin was certainly upbeat, going into Silverstone. "We're happy with where we are, and I don't think we've been as strong as a team as we are now. We're focused on putting on a great show for the fans, and I think we have a good chance at scoring some good points here, and we should be in contention for the win,"

"Silverstone is a track that is quite similar to Catalunya, in terms of the high-speed corners and needing a car that has a good balance. The only difference will be the temperatures, as they are usually lower, which means that getting the tyre to work in their optimum temperature will be key for qualifying, and then obviously keeping them in that range during the race,"

Commenting on the Rookie Season

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mercedes AMG Petronas have looking dangerous in the "Rookies". They have been threatening the top teams for the past 3 seasons but have never quite made it. Ross Brawn says "We have a strong technical team and very strong designers. The reason why we haven't been there is mysterious, hopefully our patience will be rewarded." In the past 3 races they have been on the podium 4 times, winning 2 IGPs. They were leading the championship until the British GP, which is where their performance dropped off hugely in race pace for Benjamin Bakke. Anna Hill had a poor qualifying performance but she did fight up to 7th place. Benjamin Bakke was really pleased with his qualifying performance "It is one of my most perfect laps, I fell I pushed the car to the limits. Of course we are not where we want to be as we always strive to be at the front, but I feel it went well." Mercedes AMG Petronas team has recently had a boost from purchasing a very expensive test rig. Maybe future success is there.

Spring Break wooo hooo GP won the race with a surprising 1-2 performance, they do look like one of the strongest teams on the grid alongside Lotus. Patel, the race winner, has a very good chance of winning the Driver Championship. Maybe retirement may be rethought due to his current success?
