Haha, since you've done that Alin, I might as well make a news report :P
DANIELA MENDOZA SIGNS FOR FRANKLIN F1
______________________________________
After some poor performances, many critics were wondering whether two-time WDC Jamie Davies was soon to be replaced at Franklin F1. This afternoon, Jamie Franklin announced to the world that Davies has been released, and in his place, another young female driver - The Mexican, Daniela Mendoza. At eighteen years old, Mendoza joins the ranks of those who have entered Formula 1 at a very young age, and given her nationality, she'll surely be compared with the previous speedy Mexian - Itzel Santiago.
"I'm so pleased to finally get into Formula 1," Spoke Daniela during a press conference. "Having just won the GP2 series, I knew that there could be an opportunity to join a team, but I had no idea that a team of this calibre would be interested, especially when they had two great drivers in Jamie and Ryota,"
Daniela was then questioned about Itzel Santiago, and the influences she had.
"Santiago was a huge influence on me. Growing up, she was my main inspiration, and although she never won a title, I still loved watching her race, and now being able to drive the same car, in the same livery...it's just...it's a dream come true,"
"This season, there aren't many races left, but I'll be doing everything I can to show the team what I'm capable of. Clearly Ryota has set the bar pretty high, and there will be a learning curve, but I'll do everything I can to learn as quickly as I can, get on par with Ryota, and then even try to beat him. That's what I want, and that's what every driver wants. We all want to win,"
It will be very interesting to see how Daniela Mendoza performs, compared to Ryota Onishi, and whether replacing Jamie Davies was a smart move.
